Brayden

Brayden

It has been a week since we found Aliya and five days since Myles woke up.  We had planned on waiting for two days and then having him tell us what had happened that night but he was so weak still that the talk has waited until now.  Kayssia and Yvette were supposed to be back by now but with everything going on they decided to postpone leaving the pack Yvette’s cousin is in.  They should be back tomorrow.  Dad, mom, Luke, Carter, Myles, Kendrick, Eddie, and Aliya are in my office.  Keith, Harry, and Xalen are also here.  Dad thought it would be a good idea if they were here.  I look over at Aliya.  She hasn’t been avoiding me but she has been acting as if the bond between us isn’t there.  I have caught her numerous times watching me so I know she feels something.  I have no idea why she is fighting the bond as much as she is.  I have told mom and dad that she is my mate hoping they could explain why she is fighting it but they have no idea either.

“Ok, Myles tell us what happened,”  I say.

“I was out running patrol when we caught the scent of rogues.  We tracked the scent down to the creek and that’s when we heard the first alarms go off.  There were eight of us when we were attacked about halfway back to the pack.  We fought as hard as we could but they just kept coming.  I had just killed the rogue I was fighting when I felt the blade pierce my side and the burning started.  I knew it was silver at that point so I took off running.  I actually had no idea which way I was going.  I kept pushing myself to get to the border of our pack because I knew if I could that I might run into the patrols of one of our allies.  Honestly, I don’t remember much except for the strangest high pitched voice I have ever heard.”  Myles explained.

“That was Regina.  She was coming out from behind a tree when you fell down unconscious in front of her in your wolf form.  They knew you were from Northern Celestial but you were so beat up and bloodied that they had a hard time telling who you were.  The doctor had to force you to shift back to your human form and Jarvis was pretty sure he recognized you.”  Eddie states.

“None of your wounds were that bad the doctor said that the blade must have been coated in wolfsbane.  He told us between the silver and wolfsbane that it would take you a while to wake up and he was right.  He also told us that you would be weak for a while.”  I add.

“Well, he was right.  I feel much better now but I still feel as if I could get hit by a toddler and fall over in pain.”  Myles points out.

We all laugh when he says this.  I look at Aliya and I can tell that something is on her mind.  It is like she is remembering that night as well.

“Angel do you have something to add?”  I asked.

I smirk when her face turns almost the same colour as her hair.  Luke smirks at the nickname I have given her.

“I honestly don’t remember much but there was this scent that I recognized.  It is the same scent that I remember the day that mom and I were attacked.”  She says.

“What did it smell like?”  Luke asked.

“This is going to sound weird but it smelled like Morrison.  I will explain, Carter, smells like sandalwood and peach while Luke smells like vanilla and leather.  Luke always has his leather jacket and cowboy boots on and vanilla is a family scent according to mom.  Morrison always smelled of fresh cotton and tea tree oil.”  Aliya answers.

We all notice that Carter, Luke, and Myles sit up and their bodies stiffen.  I have a feeling that they know who smells like that.  I see Carter close his eyes and take a deep breath.

“Ali are you sure about those two smells?”  Myles asked.

“Yes, I am one hundred per cent positive.”  Aliya states.

“Who do those smells belong to?”  I ask.

“My mother who died when I was seven years old always smelled of fresh cotton.  She loved that smell and anything that smelled like it.  The whole pack said this.  From what we were told she died in a rogue attack.  From what dad told me was her face was so mangled that it was hard to tell it was her.”  Carter answers.

“No offence but was your dad sure it was her?”  Kendrick asks.

“He always told me, yes but I always got the feeling that he was never sure.  I know he said that the body was of the same height and body build as my mom.  She also had the same hair and skin colour.  I hate to say this but I don’t think it was.  Dad would never admit it but I think he felt the bond break not because she died but because she rejected him.  I had heard that she had a lover before she and dad had met and realized they were true mates.  I don’t think she ever stopped seeing him.  I honestly don’t think Morrison is dad’s son.”  Carter explains.

“What about the tea tree scent?”  I asked.

“That would be Andrew,”  Myles says.

We all look at him.  I can have a feeling there is more to this story.

“My father died of some sickness when I was seven.  He and mom went out to eat and he ended up getting sick but mom never did.  I always thought that was weird.  A year later Andrew showed up and joined the pack.  No one really questioned where he came from.  Mom and he ended up together and became second chance mates by choice.  Myself and my older brother Lyle never really liked or trusted him but we got along with him for mom's sake.  I know he was hoping once he mated with mom that Alpha Craig would make him the beta instead of mom.  Andrew never really liked to see women in a position of power.”  Myles explained.

“I bet he was pissed when that didn’t happen,”  I say.

“He was beyond pissed.  I also know that he was not happy with your dad’s choice of mate Luke.  He believed that each species should mate with their own no matter what.”  Myles adds.

This makes me wonder if he might be behind the death of Luke and Aliya’s mother.  I have a feeling just by looking around that I am not the only one thinking this.  I know dad says that the attack on Luke and Aliya’s mother was not random.  I really hope that I am wrong about this.  I ask Carter if his father ever questioned whether or not Morrison was his son.  Carter says that his dad always had suspicions but never any proof.  He never felt his mate, Carter’s mother, cheated on him and he never caught her with anyone else.

“I do know there are drugs that can make a wolf unconscious and they might make them not be able to feel if their mate is cheating on them.”  Mom states.

I ask her to ask Doctor Branson if she can get a list of them and she says that she will talk to him tomorrow.  If this is the case I bet Andrew and her were lovers and that is why he joined the pack.  To be close to her and his son, who is probably Morrison.  Eddie asks Carter where Morrison is, but Carter says that after he left the pack that he has not heard from him since.  He also cut off all contact with their father as well.  Great that means this guy is MIA and could be anywhere.  I am beginning to think that the alpha of this rogue pack might be Morrison.  The timeline for him leaving the pack and this rogue pack gaining an alpha just happen to correlate.  I tell everyone my thoughts and they all seem to agree.  I can tell that Aliya is very nervous when we talk about either Andrew or Morrison.  It is almost as if she is scared of them.

“Angel are you scared of them?”  I asked.

“No, they just both creeped me the fuck out.  Morrison would always stare at me and Andrew always told me that Morrison was positive that I was his mate which gave me the creeps and made me want to vomit.”  She answers.

I have to force myself not to growl when she says that Andrew told her she was Morrison’s mate.  There is no way that could be since she is my mate.  I have a feeling that Andrew told him that Aliya has powers and that if they could get her to mate with Morrison that they could have a powerful pack and he would be a powerful alpha.  I can promise them one thing.  They are not touching one strand of her pink hair.  I will protect her with my life.
