Chapter 6

ANDREW

I reluctantly crawl off of Lyra, but not before brushing a small kiss across her lips. She looks shocked at the action, and I suddenly realize that it was probably her first kiss. Guilt consumes my brain about everything that I did to her earlier. If the rumors of her father’s treatment were true this morning was probably full of firsts for her.

“She did not seem to mind,” Brax chimed in. “I can still smell her arousal from here.”

I look back at the beautiful creature laying in my bed. Her brown eyes are wide and swirling with gold as she watches me from across the room. Messy golden locks frame her face like a halo. Her full breast are straining against her pajama top, and I lick my lips at the thought of taking each of her nipples into my mouth. Her legs are still slightly spread, begging me to place my body back between them. I have to turn away or I know I will not ever leave this room.

I walk into my closet and pull on a pair of jeans and a clean t-shirt. I grab a pair of gym shorts and a t-shirt for Lyra on my way out. “You should probably stay in here.” She only nods at my words, I can see her fear consuming her. “I you want to shower; the towels are right inside the door. Here are some clothes.” Handing the clothes to her awkwardly I turn to leave when I hear her voice behind me.

“Please do not let him take me,” she whispers.

In three strides I close the distance between us. “Little Wolf, you are not even here.” I pull up her chin to look into her eyes. This time I lower my lips to hers and let them linger there for a moment. At first her lips are tense but then she relaxes against my own. Her lips part slightly, and I take the opportunity to glide my tongue into her mouth. She moans deeply in my mouth and her tongue begins to fight mine for dominance. Putting my arm around her waist I pull her closer to me as we are consumed with one another. She runs her fingers through my hair, and I groan with need. Both of us pull apart at the same time needing to come up for air. Her chest is rising and falling heavily. The kiss left my room perfumed with her arousal. I press my forehead to hers not wanting to leave her side.

“Don’t leave this room,” I whisper to her before unwillingly leaving her behind.

Before the door even closes behind me, Brax is throwing a tantrum inside my head, demanding I go back to her. “Business first,” I try to tell him, but the smell of her arousal is driving him mad. I push him to the back of my mind, trying to stay focused on the task at hand.

I take the stairs two at a time like a kid would and see Alpha Jason standing right inside my front door with a sour look on his face. “Alpha Jason, to what do I owe the pleasure?” I say with a smug grin across my face. “Have you reconsidered our alliance?”

An annoyed look sits on Jason’s face as he stares at me angrily. “I am here for my daughter.”

“And what makes you think that she is here?” I reply shortly, and I can feel James smirking behind my back as he tries to hold back his laughter.

“I can smell her all over you. Do you think that I am a fool?” Alpha Jason takes a step forward in my direction and he speaks. Anger is rolling off of him in waves. “If you so much laid a finger on her… if you defiled her in any way I will kill you where you stand.”

Brax sits up at attention at Jason’s threat. “Is that a threat?” I respond coolly. I peer around Jason and notice that he has been foolish enough to come alone. “I would choose your next words carefully because I can see that you have come alone.” I can feel Brax pushing to the surface, ready to fight for our mate.

Seeming to realize his mistake in coming alone, Jason takes a small step back. “She will return to me. She knows her place.”

A growl erupts from my chest before I can stop it. “For once I think we agree on something.” I stroll over to the front door and open it without another word.

Walking out of the front door Jason turns, “If you see Lyra, please tell her I would hope she would not leave her horse, Snowflake, behind.”

“What makes you think that she would choose a horse over her freedom?” I spit out.

“You obviously do not know her at all,” Jason says as he climbs into his car and speeds away.

His words feel like venom in my soul because I know that he is right. I do not know anything about Lyra except that she is my mate. Would the mate bond be enough to keep her happy now that she has left everything behind? Would she be willing to give up her freedom for an animal?

“So are we rescuing a horse now?” James says from behind me. “Also… have you lost your mind? You cannot throw yourself at her the first night she is here.” I turn to see him resting lazily on the open doorway of the packhouse, he looks less than amused with me.

I grumble as I pass him on my way to the kitchen. I grab a coffee mug and pour myself a cup. “I cannot keep myself from her,” I say as I run my hands through my hair. “She’s like a forbidden drug.”

“You need to find out what exactly is going on over there,” James says seriously, and I know that he is right. “We need to know what to prepare for.”

“Let’s try and recruit more warriors and double the training hours per week. Once I get the full story from Lyra I will talk to the other packs in our alliance. We can only hope that our meetings have pulled them to our side.” I turn to walk back up the stairs to try and get as much information out of Lyra as I can.

As I enter my bedroom I hear the shower running and her scent hits me like a ton of bricks. The smell of lavender makes my mouth water, and I am dying to know what she tastes like. The sound of the shower turns off and I hear a tiny grunt of frustration come from the bathroom. I look around the room and notice that she has left the clothes I left for her sitting on the bed.

Brax sits up at attention in my mind. “This morning just got a lot more fun.”

“I think you are right,” I answer him silently.

I settle myself on the bed next to the discarded clothes. The bathroom door cracks open the slightest bit and Lyra peeks her head around it as she glances into the bedroom. When her eyes land on me and the clothes sitting next to me she lets out a frustrated huff. I cannot help but smirk in her direction.

“Can you please hand me those?” she says sweetly.

“Hand you what?” I tease.

She growls angrily, “The clothes sitting next to you.”

“I did not hear the magic word,” I chastise her and cannot help but chuckle at her predicament.

“Please…” she says through gritted teeth. “Can you hand me those clothes?”

“Why don’t you come and get them?”

Her eyes widen with the realization that she is stuck. She closes the bathroom door and I hear her taking several deep breaths. She steps from the bathroom with a plush cotton towel wrapped tightly around her. Her golden locks are surprisingly curly when wet. Peeking out from below the towel are small muscular legs, that are much longer than I expected for her short frame. I suddenly wish I had purchased the smaller set of towels. She puts on her bravest face and tip toes across the room and snatches the clothes from the bed beside me. Once she has them in her hands she runs as quickly as she can back to the bathroom and slams the door behind her. Laying back on the bed, I laugh out loud, and I can hear her growl from the other side of the door.

“You should have ripped the towel from her body,” Brax pouts in my head.

“All in good time… all in good time.” I whisper as I close my eyes and try to burn the memory of her wrapped in my towel in my brain.

Why deny that Lyra is there? Her dad already knows she broke the pack bond and pledged to another pack,
