CHAPTER 122 - The Hardest Goodbye

Amarah stared up at the ceiling, breathing slowly and deeply. She turned weakly at the sound of the door opening and as hard it is for her, her lips raised upwards into a smile when she saw Clayton entering the room.

“H-Hey,” she called out, raising her hand.

Clayton immediately went to her side and clasped her hand, bringing it to his lips and kissing it gently. He sat down on the chair by the bed and looked at her lovingly, his eyes red.

“You… You look beautiful,” Clayton said achingly.

“Thank you,” she whispered. She coughed lightly and then took a deep breath. “Matt said… Matt said that I’m going to be okay. He told me that I just needed to rest so I can recover all the strength that I had lost.”

“You shouldn’t have worked hard,” Clayton only whispered.

Amarah reached for his cheek with her other hand.

“I-I’m sorry,” she apologized gently. “But I did w-what I needed to do. They need my help.”

Clayton clutched both of her hands gently.
