82 After the Battle

Desiree.

Adam held me in the shower and wept.

"I am sorry, Desiree," he said. I knew Adam could remember what happened. I tried to ease his pain, but he was hard on himself.

"I wanted to kill you and our baby," he accused himself, "I was hungry for blood and magic, and I couldn't control it," he said, and I held him. I pulled him out of the shower. Although he was Alpha, he was allowed to be vulnerable in my arms. So I dried his body and mine, led him to the bed and held him the best way I could while he wept. I knew I couldn't stop him from blaming himself, so I just held him.

"You did what you had to do to save us, Adam. Don't blame yourself. Blame that witch, Maria, for trying to destroy our utopia." I told him, and he did not let up.

"I wanted your blood, Desiree, and your magic," he argued, and I squeezed him tighter.

"You have to let it go. I am here, and I am still pregnant. We needed Haimon at that moment, and you came through for us. Please let it go, Adam." I said, and
