Ch 4 - We Need To Find Her

SILAS

Reagan smiled, extending his hand. “Alpha Silas, it’s been an honour having you here.”

I shook his hand. “The honour is mine Reagan, and please call me Silas.”

“Are you sure you won’t kill me?” he teased.

“Reagan, I’m powerful, not heartless,” I chuckled.

“Many would beg to differ Silas,” he smiled. I inwardly frowned.

People think I’m heartless?

I shrugged. “Well, I’m not bothered by opinions. I wouldn’t be where I am if I was.”

“Wise! Well, I shall see you in three month’s time at the Alpha’s meeting,” he said.

“Indeed,” I agreed before leaving.

I was halfway home, driving as I listened to the radio, when my arm felt like it was on fire. I jerked the car the other way, almost ramming into an oncoming car. I breathed in hard before pulling my car to the side of the road. Just as I did, my knee experienced the same pain.

What the hell is happening to me?

I stepped out of the car, only to have more of these pains attack different parts of my body. I bit down on my lower lip, drawing blood as I stopped myself from making a sound. The pain was becoming unbearable, until it suddenly went away, like it was never there to begin with. I was breathing heavily, my t-shirt clinging to me from my sweat.

What the hell just happened?

“I don’t have an answer for you either buddy. I have no clue, but that pain was almost as painful as silver,” Nikolas told me.

“You’re telling me! It was a different kind of pain than the one we’ve been feeling this whole week. This one was physical,” I replied.

“I know, and it makes me curious about something, but I don’t know if it could be it,” he noted.

“What is it?” I asked.

“It’s been said that when mates share a strong bond, they can sometimes feel each other’s pain even before meeting, but it usually also means that they are very close to meeting,” he shared his theory.

“So, we could be meeting our mate soon, and for the past week we’ve been feeling her emotional pain, and now her physical? Is that what you’re saying?” I asked for confirmation.

“Yes, that’s it. But it’s just my theory. I could be very wrong,” he reminded.

“Let’s hope that you’re right, because it seems she needs us,” I realized.

“Then let’s go find her,” he chuckled lightly.

I shook my head and headed home even faster. Whereas it would’ve taken me four hours to get home, it took me two. My body was humming with a sense of dullness, and Nikolas couldn’t explain the feeling once more. I was met by Troy at the door, and even he looked surprised to see me back.

“I wasn’t expecting you for the next day and a half,” he commented.

“Why? Are you enjoying being alpha?” I taunted with a smirk.

His shoulders shook in laughter. “Nah, just surprised.”

“Is everything fine?” I questioned.

“Yep!” he replied.

“And the rogue?” I asked.

“I haven’t actually spoken to her, but I’ve seen her around. She looks harmless, and she really doesn’t look like she knows about our kind. She looks freaked out most of the time if anything,” he explained.

I raised an eyebrow, amused. “And what’s Troy’s opinion of her?”

“She’s really hot bro, but in a beautiful way, not a ‘I wanna bang her’ kind of way. I guess it’s in the genes,” he complimented.

“Falling for her are we?” I chuckled.

“Nah bro, she’s my cousin, and if anything, my wolf has been fighting me to protect her,” he stated, looking somewhat baffled.

I scowled. “Protect her?”

“I don’t understand it man. Right now, I feel dull, numb, and my body is freaking humming. I must sound crazy,” he chuckled.

I, on the other hand, was stunned.

“You don’t since that’s what I’m feeling. When did you start feeling like that?” I checked.

“About two hours ago,” he replied.

“Same time as me! Troy, do you know where the rogue is?” I asked.

“No, why?” he frowned.

“Because I think we need to find her,” I said as I started taking off my clothes.

Troy caught on and we shifted into our wolves once we had discarded of our clothes. We ran through the vast forest, not really knowing where to go, but suddenly Nikolas knew exactly where to go. I let him take the reins as he guided us through the trees.

He stopped suddenly, sniffing the air. I could smell the sweetest kind of vanilla, together with the scent of fresh wisteria flowers. I knew it was wisteria because my mother loves the flowers and she grows them everywhere on the walls at the back of the house.

Nikolas ran towards the scent at a speed I’d never experienced. He abruptly started growling very loudly when the scent of blood reached our noses. He has never reacted like this to blood before.

“That’s because I was right Silas. We’ve found our mate, and it’s her blood I smell. Someone hurt her,” he told me.

I took over the reins, with rage filling my veins.

Who the hell would dare hurt my mate? I will kill them.

I ran faster, until a figure came into view, making me growl loudly. I was sure everyone heard the powerful growl as they all tried to mind link me with their concerns. I couldn’t have cared less as I approached my mate. She was unconscious, and her breathing was shallow. Only when I stepped up to her, did I realize that she’s the rogue.

“Well this is interesting! You hate rogues, and yet the fates blessed you with a clueless one,” Troy chuckled in my head.

“Be wise and shut up at this very moment Troy. I’m not in the mood,” Nikolas pushed through.

“Ooh, the big boss,” Troy taunted before shifting. I followed suit. We put on the shorts that we normally put behind the trees.

I walked over to my mate to see her covered in bruises and blood. Most of her bones were sitting awkwardly, and would most probably need to be pushed back into position. I cringed at the very thought. Her blonde hair was covered with her blood, and I carefully moved it from her face, to reveal her swollen face. I growled loudly once more.

“Silas, you’re scaring everyone,” Troy pointed out.

“I don’t care!” I growled.

“Look bro, I get it, but Matt says there’s panic, so calm the growls down a bit. I’ve already called Dana over. She’ll be here in two minutes,” he responded. I nodded and stopped growling.

“Everything is fine. Go on with your lives,” Nikolas instructed everyone before blocking the mind link.

“Big boss doesn’t come out that often,” Troy chuckled.

“He’s pretty much ready to commit murder right now, and it’s taking everything in me not to let him,” I smiled weakly. Nikolas really was hungry for murder. He’s never been like this, even with the rogues that killed my father and grandfather. I caressed the beauty’s face.

“MINE!” Nikolas growled.

I heaved a heavy sigh. “Alright buddy, I hear you! We’re going to get her the best help we can, but I need you to calm down.”

“I don’t understand why YOU’RE so calm about this. Someone hurt our mate and she’s not healing,” he growled. I didn’t say anything.

“Wait a minute! You’re mad that she’s a rogue aren’t you?” he asked in disbelief.
