I was pacing in my dungeon, wondering what was going on with my daughters, until I remembered that Angelina had said that Isak was keeping Lucia’s body in his house. Even though I’d begun to mourn her death, I could feel that she wasn’t dead, or at least not yet. I teleported myself to the traitor’s house and was surprised to find it empty.

I went in search of my mate’s body as I followed instinct through the house. I was wary when I found her body in his office. Something about this scene just felt too easy. Her body was pale and I immediately noticed the dagger in her heart. It was the Dagger of Immobility. It temporarily caused death, and the only person who could remove it is the person who put it there.

“I knew I should’ve killed you when I had the chance,” the voice said behind me.

I knew that voice too well not to know who it was. I wasn’t about to entertain the person, so I grabbed my mate and teleported us to the safest place I could think for us both. Fate must be funn
