Special treat: Theo’s POVThe moment my eyes met hers, my ideals about not believing in fate vanished into thin air. I had always thought that Taelin was the woman I was meant to spend the rest of my life with. She had been beautiful, kind, funny, and everything a man could ever want and desire.Never in my life had I believed the fated mate thing was real. Yeah, I heard about it, but I figured it was more of a myth than anything. Even if I believed it at one point, I figured it was just a primal desire to mate with someone.Kind of in the sense that one was overcome with a sexual desire for someone. I didn’t want to be with a female if all I wanted to do was have sex with her. I had thought I wanted someone like Taelin.Granted, I had definitely wanted her sexually, but it was nothing like how I was feeling at this exact moment. Every cell in my body came alive the moment I saw Sara. All the feelings I have ever thought I had about Taelin, just disappeared. For the first time, I unde
Taelin-In the past few days, things have been a little hectic. I kept waiting for another surprise to pop up. Ryan and Amanda were constantly making out, always making excuses about why they had to go somewhere. We all knew what they were really doing. It didn’t help that we all had excellent hearing, which meant they weren’t fooling anyone. It made me wonder if Ryker and I were that loud when we were having sex. Thankfully though, Ryker and I had a bit of privacy at my house.Theo and Sara still haven’t completed their mate bond, but I suspect it will happen any day now. The way they acted around each other was the complete opposite to how Ryan and Amanda were. Theo and Sara were practically glued to each other’s side.It was sweet actually and I was happy for them both. They weren’t getting lost in each other, they were getting to know one another. It was both endearing and annoying. It kinda made me a little envious of how they were together. Everything seemed easy and they conne
Taelin-“It is an honor to finally meet you.” The Alpha King bowed to my mother. It was strange seeing him bowing to my mother like she was some sort of royalty. What was even more strange, was seeing the way she blushed when he kissed the back of her hand. Since my father died, she has never shown interest in another man.If I thought they would do well together, I would be all for trying to get them together. I just couldn’t see either of them being happy together if they did. My mother was far too anxious for the Alpha King. Not to mention she would more than likely make my life a living hell and try to convince him to not let me be a warrior. Not that I was one to stand in the middle of happiness. Yet I couldn’t help but hope they didn’t find interest in each other to that degree.“Oh? Has my daughter mentioned me?” She asked, a polite smile on her face.He released her hand and backed away a few feet. His eyes landed on me for a moment, before returning to answer her question. “O
Taelin-We sat in silence for a while, until I ended up dozing off in his arms. It wasn’t until I heard the voice of the Alpha King, that I woke up.“I have calmed her down. I think this would be a good chance for the two of you to talk. The loss of her mate is causing her to struggle with her sanity.”Sitting up, I realized that Ryker had fallen asleep as well. Leaning to press a kiss on his cheek, I whispered into his ear. “I am going to talk to my mother.”He groaned and nodded his head, but kept his eyes closed. I imagine he was exhausted. Seeing him like this reminded me of how much work he has been doing lately. Hopefully, we can get this cure distributed soon so he can finally relax.Moving from the couch, I headed outside. I already knew that my mother went home. I wondered if the Alpha King was right about my mother. I did notice she became worse after my father died, but it was hard to tell.As far as I knew, she has always been against my life choices, but she never acted t
Ryker-“Please forgive my earlier behavior. It is a pleasure to meet you, uh…” Taelin’s mother spoke as she made her way down the stairs to join us.“Alpha Ryker, but I insist that you call me Ryker.” I kept my composure, not wanting to come off as a fool in front of my mate’s mother.I might be an Alpha, but I was raised to respect my elders. The last thing I wanted was for her to find another thing to scold Taelin over. It didn’t help that I could practically feel my mate’s nervousness as if it were my own.“My daughter mentioned you were an Alpha. Forgive me for my disrespect, but I am curious if you are okay with losing your title as Alpha to become the mate of the next Alpha King?” Her left eyebrow raised as if she was challenging me to say the wrong thing.“Not in the least. As her mate, I will stand by her and allow her to do what she was meant to be. You have raised an incredibly special daughter and it is a privilege to stand beside her as she paves a new destiny for us all.”
Taelin-Returning to the packhouse, there was a lot of activity going on. Leo was bossing people around, and they were placing vials of the cure in containers. It didn’t take much to see that they were getting things ready to transport the cure.“The last batch has just finished, so we are going to get ready to head out in the morning. We will be heading south to a location that has a vehicle that can transport us. It is solar powered, so we will be fine to travel all the way there in it. We will be going through a large city that is overrun with rogues.” The Alpha King started explaining when he noticed us.“If we move around the city, will we be able to reach our destination?” Ryker asked.“Sadly, no. The vehicle is in a suburb of the city. It would be too far out of the way to get around it. Leo has created smoke bombs that can make the cure airborne. We don’t know how effective it will be, but I also called in for reinforcements, to help us get through as safely as possible.”“May
Taelin-Reaching the city was easy. We only ran into a few rogues. They had been in a group, so we tested the smoke bombs, which worked perfectly. The reaction was instant, compared to getting injected with the cure.Only a few seconds passed after they inhaled it, and they started to revert to their former self. Being we couldn’t leave them out here, scared and confused, Theo directed them to our home. I kind of wished we could have gone with them, to ensure they arrived, but luckily the Alpha King had an unlimited range on his ability to link with his warriors.Amanda informed the Alpha King that they had arrived before we reached the city. Leo had been buzzing with excitement that he managed to create a faster way to cure the rogues. I believe we all were feeling good about things. That was until we reached the security building. It hadn’t taken Ryker long to get a visual of various parts of the city, with the cameras he managed to hack into. It was much worse than we thought it wo
Taelin-We managed to reach the vehicle, but the rogues were hot on our tail. We needed to thin out the herd or we weren’t going to be able to get out. Leo and Theo quickly placed the cure in the vehicle, so they could help us without damaging the cure.I only managed to knock twenty or so off them, but their numbers have already more than multiplied. By now I pulled the pistol out of my thigh holster and jumped onto the vehicle. The others were shooting at the ones closest to us or fighting them off.I tried to take out as many of the ones further back as I could. With a pistol in each hand, I continued to fire at the rogues, but there were so many. The Alpha King joined me on the top vehicle.“There are too many of them!” I yelled at the top of my lungs.“I just received word that help is on the way.” The Alpha King said as he fired rounds from his pistols at the rogues. It was good news that help was on the way, but I wasn’t sure if we could hold them back. Typically, I would rush
