Chapter 9: The Green Eyed Warmth

Chapter 9: The Green-Eyed Warmth

Aylin’s pov,

I curl up to the comfortable warmth surrounding me like a cocoon of affection. It was soothing after the impact of freezing water. I pulled that moving source of heat to me, trapping it in my arms. I wasn’t ready to let it away from mbe. Everything felt like a terrible nightmare when I found myself falling into a waterfall, but the warmth made me realize it had already passed and I will open my eyes in my room again.

Subtle blow of air tickling my face, I held my pillow tighter to my chest, nuzzling my face in it. An amazing smell of jungle filled my soul, but I felt suffocated when that pillow tried to hug me back. A firm, naked chest came in front of me as soon as I opened my eyes.

“Ahhhh ‘’ I screamed, getting startled by the man laying in my bed with me. Pushing him far from me, I struggled to grab a night lamp from the nearby bed table and fell on the floor with a loud bang. The lamp shattered in a blink of an eye, scaring me more.

“Guards, Guards,” I yelled, picking up the piece of broken glass in my hand to protect myself from this intruder. Holding a long, slender piece of glass in front of him, I looked up to face this uncivilized man who dared to intrude in my room.

“Don’t shout. You need rest.” He asserted calmly getting reclining over the bedpost, keeping his alluring green eyes over me. I forgot what I was doing when my eyes met his green orbs. His big, round eyes made me forget to breathe for a second.

“Good. now, come here sleep more.” He ordered in his tough voice, roaming his veined hand through his raven black hairs, making me come out of his trance of his. Shaking my head negatively, I took a few steps back from him. Unpleased, he got up from the bed swiftly as revealing his muscular chest. He was only wearing jeans. What are his intentions? What does he want?

“Don’t move,” I warned, holding a glass at him. He smirked but stopped approaching me and stood, crossing his hands over his chest.

“Guards?” I screamed again. Why are they taking so long to come here? He creased his eyebrows in confusion when I called guards.

“Who are you? What are you doing in my room? Who send you?” I bombarded him with a tone of questions, without giving him any time to think about any move further.

“I am sure it’s not your room.” He confessed, holding his chin high with a hint of a smile over his crooked lips for a second before he got cold again. I froze hearing him, but before I could ask him further, a few guards rushed in hurriedly. I got confused, as they weren’t the guards of the palace. They were wearing brown uniforms and some three leaves symbols over their vest.

The flashes of attack and screams of Tae ran across my head, dropping the temperature of my body. That sharp piece of glass dropped on the floor as I remembered myself running in the cold forest, chased by rogue vampires. The coldness of the waterfall forced me to regain my unwanted memory of getting targeted by some local Alpha.

“Prepare lunch, now.” He ordered, growling at them for a second. They left immediately as they heard of him. My eyes aren’t leaving him, his aura was terrifying but for me, it was as magnetic as the scenery of the night I was used to seeing. No doubt, he was the alpha of one pack and, more important, he was chasing me to death.

“Look, violating your territory of one, the alpha wasn’t my consent. I was trapped in a huge problem and looking for an escape.” I responded immediately, supporting myself with the wall behind me. His eyes sharpened with my direct words.

“You know I am Alpha but your tone doesn’t know it yet.” He raged but his deep voice just pulled me more to him.

“You saved me?” I asked, standing straight looking around me. It was a temporary wooden structure built like a small camp. There was only a bed and a small table was in the corner of the room.

“Yes, Sit. I have a few questions to ask.” He responded by showing his hand to bed again. Should I thank him for that? No, he was the reason I first fell into the waterfall. Why would I thank him? When I didn’t move, he approached me and slid his large, rough hand over my bare waist. The oozing heat from his hand was unfolding all layers of my soul which I didn’t even know existed and my legs started following him blindly as hypnotized.

“Why are you shirtless? Please, wear one.” I requested, turning my gaze from his built torso to the floor again. He deliberately grazed his fingers in my skin deeply as he was making me realize I was still under his territory.

“Sure, let me help you undress you then.” He casually blurted, breaking the first button of my shirt to cover my chest, startling me with his move. I held his hand in mine, stopping him from reaching further. I was so shocked to speak anything and left staring at him only with my widened eyes.

“You are wearing my shirt.” He added as he was demanding to get it back. I looked down. I was dressed in an oversized white shirt ending up in my mid-thighs. His one eyebrow arched in pride as I checked myself in his shirt.

“Do you -” I halted before completing the sentence, as the thought of him changing my clothes was so embarrassing.

“Yes, I have changed your clothes.” He accepted calmly and made me sit over the bed and took a seat beside me. I was keeping my eyes on the floor to avoid him. I have to leave soon and look for my father. He must have worried about me and the kingdom.

“Let’s get to business. I am Rowan, Alpha of Crescent pack.” He introduced himself. I knew there were eight royal packs in the kingdom but never got to know which one, as it was always kept forbidden from me. I nodded at him, as I knew everything he said, keeping my face straight.

“Who are you?” He questioned, as I didn’t take initiative to introduce myself at all.

“I am Aylin,” I answered calmly, controlling my breathing.

“Which pack? Your rank?” He voiced a lot of questions turning to me, which I wasn’t ready to answer.

“I believe you don’t need to know about that stuff.” I refused, trying to be as polite as I could. I wasn’t ready to handle another wrath of him after vampires. His face frowned.

“What does that even mean?” He asked me to get up from the bed.

“Means, thank you so much for saving my life. I need to find someone. My people are in danger. Bye.” I turned around to leave an explanation blurting out over his face. He grabbed my arm and pinned me over his chest, wrapping his both hands around me tightly.

“Tell me, what are you?” He inquired bitterly with his glaring eyes. What am I? What kind of question is this? His ragged breathing was fanning over my face, making my chocolaty locks fly in the air.

“Are you Lycan? Witch? Or hybrid?” His constant guess creeped me out. His desperate eyes were searching for something which he wanted to uncover. He was keenly observing my facial features as he was searching for some clues in it.

He circled his hand on the back of my neck, clutching a bunch of hairs in it. He bent down, smelling my neck, briefly filling my fragrance in his chest as he was going to store it for life.

“I am none of the ones you mentioned,” I answered, struggling to pull his hand away from me.

“Why couldn’t any of my warriors smell you but for me?” He asked, tracing his lips all over my cheeks, tightening his hands over my waist impossibly. I have to stop him. I have to. His touch sends electric jolts to my body, making every cell alive like a new one. As my body never felt before. He can smell me? How? It can't be possible.

“Because I am human.”
