Rowan’s pov,

I forced myself to open another file, but my constant efforts to distract my mind were failing me miserably. After throwing it aside and walking to the bar section of my new office, the moment she asked me to join the shrine with my aunt, my heart wasn’t at ease. I wasn’t intending to trap her here, but my heart would be at least calmer. Her absence made everything difficult for me. I consoled my heart. She returns in hours while gulping down a few bottles of whiskey.  

I held the glass on the table tighter as it vibrated mildly and the lights in the office accompanied them while flickering with great intensity. The stuttering sound of furniture amplified, making me hold the edge of the table. Before I could think anything further, a blinding blue light swallowed the office. I held my hand in front of my eyes, struggling to see in front me.
