Chapter 6

Thaddeus POV

I thought he would have woken up by now. It's been a little over two weeks. I'm sitting beside his bed holding his hand and looking at his beautiful face. I can't believe anyone would hurt someone so beautiful and innocent.

While holding his hand I rested my head on his arm and I must have fallen asleep. I felt a hand brush across my face sweeping my hair aside.

I shot my head up fast and was surprised to see beautiful sparkling gray eyes staring back at me.

My eyes were a little blurry, they must have watered up a bit from my dream.

"You're awake!" I said, but it came out more like a whisper.

After handing him a glass of water and setting it back on the table we just looked at each other for a few moments. I wanted to reach out and touch him so bad but I didn't want to scare him so I fought the urge.

I've been dying to put a name to this beautiful face so I asked, "what is your name?"

"Aiden." He replied.

Such a beautiful name.

I had to try it out as his name danced across my lips, "Aiden."

I love the way his name felt rolling off my lips. It made me smile slightly.

I told him what happened and how we found him, after he asked what happened.

"Who are you?" He asked?

"My name is Thaddeus Anderson, Alpha of the Midnight Moon pack."

Once I said that his eyes went so big. They look like they're going to pop out of his head.

He started breathing really fast almost like he couldn't catch his breath. He was trembling and tears started coming down his face. I didn't know what was going on or why he started reacting this way.

I put my hands up to try and calm him down, but that made it worse and he scooted away out of my reach.

I locked the wheelchair in place and started climbing out of it and sat on the edge of the bed.

I went to reach for him but he flinched.

He looked at me again and started calming down.

I noticed he was looking at my legs, then the wheelchair then back at my legs. It made me very uncomfortable and self-conscious.

I don't normally get uncomfortable when people look at me like that. I don't normally care what people think.

But seeing my mate look at me like this....

I can already tell that he's disgusted to be mated to somebody in a wheelchair, someone who can't even use their legs.

I sighed and let my head drop and close my eyes as I put my hands back in my lap. I knew this would happen. I just hoped it wouldn't.

I figured it's best if I leave him alone.

"I'll take my leave now and let you rest." I told him. I started to move to get back into my wheelchair when I heard him say "wait!" I felt him touch my arm and I froze instantly. The tingles instantly shot out everywhere.

I looked up at him and he seemed to be in a trance or something. He kept his hand on my arm and was staring at it with his mouth slightly open. He almost looked in awe like he wasn't expecting it, or didn't know what it was.

He slowly pulled his hand back and asked, "what was that?"

"It's the mate bond.... I'm your mate." I told him.

Did he not know I was his mate? I mean this is the first time he felt the tingles I suppose, but couldn't he smell my scent and recognize that I was his mate?

I was about to ask him that when suddenly there was a knock at the door.

Xander popped his head in saying, "they're here."  He noticed Aiden was awake and walked in with the giant goofy smile on his face.

"Hey kid, it's good to see you're awake finally!" Xander said!

Aiden seem to scowl at that.

Guess he didn't like being called a kid. But then he tense up and look back down into his lap. Almost like he was afraid to make eye contact with us.

"I'll have somebody bring you up something to eat. I'll be back later, I have a meeting I have to attend to."

I said to Aiden.

It slipped my mind that I had a meeting today with alpha Michael from Stonecrest pack which borders our territory on the west side where the river is. He's also a really good friend of mine.

They've been seeing rogues near the area and other suspicious activity.

It also happens to be where we found Aiden. I can't help but have a feeling this might have something to do with him. Which makes this meeting that much more important to me. I need to get to the bottom of this and fast.

I paused when I got to the door looking back at him. He was looking at his lap still but glanced up at me. Our eyes meeting for just a moment before he quickly looked back down.

Goddess I really didn't want to leave him but I really need to talk to Michael. I took a deep breath before turning to leave.
