Chapter 3

During the day when Mark was with Lily, he tried to ask about Maya's matter but Lily brushed it off every time.

"Why haven't I seen Maya since I came back?" Mark asked.

"Ooh, my sister, I sent her to get something for me, I think she will be back soon."

"How has she been?"

"Although she was heartbroken at first and did not speak to me often, she came to realize that some things never belonged to her thus she had to face the reality," Lily said.

Mark looked on and said nothing. Since he knew the truth, he was just testing of Lily will be honest with him, but it seemed, she will never tell him anything.

Mark felt frustrated but he could not be mad at her after all they have just been intimate a moment ago.

For the first time, he hated himself for being so useless.

He had hurt the person he cared about the most. And now other people were also hurting her but there was nothing he could do.

He did not wish to stay there any longer. He swiftly left after putting on his clothes.

Lily looked at his retreating figure with a deep gaze. She could tell that although Mark was together with her, a large part of his heart still belonged to Maya.

But she was not worried, after all, she had already bound him on her side, and even if he wanted to he could not leave.

After Mark left, Lily immediately looked for the people she had told to keep an eye on Maya.

"What has she been up to?"

"Nothing. She had been staying in her room the whole day without leaving."

"Okay. Make sure that I don't lay my eyes on her again. I hope you know what to do. And also make sure that your Alpha doesn't find out anything or else, you will pay with your lives." Lily warned.

"Yes, luna!" The guards lowered their heads with submissiveness.

Night soon hit.

The long-awaited pack meeting finally arrived. Maya had already made all the preparations and was resting in the pack quarters.

She was just a mere servant and wasn't allowed to attend such an important event. She thought that she would take the opportunity and sneak away.

Since Mark was back and he was already engaged to Lily, she did not want to make things awkward between them and decided that she would leave at dawn the following day.

Although she hated Mark she had still been hopeful that he will look for her and ask her how she has been doing.

But not only did he not look for her, but he was also overly intimate with Lily.

She stumbled upon them outside Lily's room, and after seeing the scene that was playing out in front of her, she figured that she might as well leave this place and go somewhere far.

The tiny light of hope she carried in her heart had been extinguished there and then. All that remained was coldness and hate.

As she was still resting, she heard a knock on the door. She thought she was being called because the guests have arrived and she needed to serve them.

But the moment she opened the door, her head was covered by a black sack, her hands were tied behind her back and her legs were also tied.

Maya immediately lost the ability to move and when she thought that she would fall, she was lifted into the air.

Everything happened too suddenly. She had no time to react or scream for help.

Although she had been kidnapped and she didn't know where they were headed or what fate awaited her, she was surprisingly very calm.

Maybe she hoped that the people could hurry and finish her off already because honestly, she wanted to die.

After a considerable amount of time, the person who was carrying her stopped.

"I think this will be the best place to dispose of the body." One of the people said.

"Miss said that we should make sure that everything is perfect. We should not leave any loose ends."

"Then why don't we kill her before we toss her in the lake? If we toss her alive, she might swim back and come seek revenge from us."

"Stop scaring yourself. She is just a wolfless and abandoned little girl, how can she survive the waves and swim back? We will just toss her alive so she could have a clear picture of how she died."

"Okay, you do it then. We need to report to our luna before the celebration begins."

"Although it's a pack meeting, I heard that Alpha Logan will take the chance to announce his son as the true Alpha and he will immediately take the lead of ruling our pack right away."

"I heard that too. Now that he is already engaged to our miss, she will definitely be his luna."

The two people were talking, unaware that Maya was listening. They had thought she will be unconscious by now because the black some contained some aesthetic.

They thought that because she did not have a wolf, she was more of a human which is why they used such cheap medicine to deal with her.

But the drug did not affect Maya. Whether she was wolfless, she still heard the wolf blood in her veins flowing, that was a fact they could not deny.

So the medicine did not work and thus the two people talking had no idea that Maya was conscious. Although she was about to be tossed into the lake, she did not make any sound.

It seemed that it was something that could have happened when she was rescued by Mark when she was young.

Maybe she was truly a jinx as Melissa called her. She did not deserve to have a family or someone to care about her.

Maya resigned to her fate and closed her eyes. Although she did not see anything even she when opened them, she still wanted to die peacefully.

After the two men tossed her in the water, they hurriedly returned to the pack and immediately reported to Lily.

"You better keep your mouth shut. If someone asks, especially Mark, just say that she wandered in the woods and was attacked by the rogues."

"Okay miss. We will do as you say."

"Go back to your posts. I don't want people to see you hanging around here."

After hearing that Maya had been disposed of successfully, Lily breathe a sigh of relief.

That girl was a ticking time bomb. She did not want to think about what would have happened if Mark had met with her.

What if she told him everything she has been through? Lily knew that some things were better hidden deep in her heart than be exposed.

She knew that she won't be able to bear the consequences if Mark was to find out.

Back in the woods...

The guards never knew that the moment they left, a figure jumped into the water and saved Maya.

By then she was brought to the shore, she had already lost consciousness because of the strong waves.

Another reason was that she did not struggle and had already accepted her fate which is why she was ready to die.

"Investigate everything that happened and report back to me." The man who has saved Maya said to the man who was standing before him.

"Why did you save her? You don't know who she is." The man being ordered said.

"That is none of your business. Just do as you are told. I will be going back to the pack. I want every fine detail of her tomorrow morning."

"What about the meeting?"

"Just attend on my behalf. You can say that I'm in seclusion."

"But you know the importance of your presence." The man tried to persuade him.

"Do you want me to teach you how to deal with this sought of things?" The man asked with irritation. He had already lifted Maya in his arms and covered her with his jacket.

"No Alpha." The man said. Afraid of saying any wrong things to agitate the man.

The man did not even look back as he disappeared into the woods.
