Chapter 4

ALEXANDER'S P.O.V:

The guys and I were warming up for the match. It's been only four days since Mireya stepped into our life, she already won everyone's heart. She doesn't smile often just a bit of her lips lifting upwards or she will let out a breathy laugh. I never heard her full blow laugh till now. I'm kidding right. I was just like known her for only four days and I'm thinking of hearing her laugh. When did Alex care about it? It was new for me too. She became important to us as she has been with Isabella not leaving her side.

Lie to yourself, Alex. My inner sense mocked me.

Her answers were cut short and she is having a hard time accepting us as her friends. Already Ethan likes her like his little sister because of her height. Carter would always tease her just to rile her up and make her cuss at him. Adam would just make conversation here and there. Ryan is her best friend and me being the cockier person, flirts with her always. It's like I couldn't control my mouth around her. I like the reaction when I flirt with her, her natural blush will tint up her cheeks as she would roll her amethyst eyes at me. Her eye color was the most alluring one. I never go for these girly colors like pink or purple, but this amethyst color has a special place here.

Why am I even noticing these things about her?

"You ready, Alex." Adam snapped me out of my thoughts. I nodded bumping my fist with him.

"Kayden and Ethan have been acting weird and I don't know what it is?" Ryan appeared beside Adam along with Carter.

"Why? What happened?" I asked him, but he shrugged nervously.

"They will be alright, Ryan. We will talk with them after completing our match." Carter reassured us.

"Let's do this!" We all did a fist bump with each other and yes they were right. Kayden and Ethan looked a bit nervous. I know it's a match, but they have participated in plenty of matches.

Our team name called as we all waved at the crowd and stood in the field along with the opposite school team. I scanned the crowd for my family and Mireya. I glanced at the crowd to see my parents along with Theo and Raymond were sitting as I waved at them. Aiden and Rosaline too came for this match along with Lucas and Emily. My whole family is here to watch a qualifier match. Since I started playing football my parents never failed to encourage us. They never missed any of our matches to date and I love them for that. Even though they are busy with their work, they still manage to do these things for us. They waved back to us as we all waved at them. They mouthed a small all the best as we all nodded at them grinning. Everyone is like a family to us.

I again glanced at the crowd and I finally found Mireya and Isabella sitting there watching us. I smirked at Mireya who acted like she didn't notice me. I winked at them as Mireya rolled her eyes. See I told you guys, whenever I do something, she always rolls her eyes. Soon the game started and it was pretty tough. Kayden and Ethan have been missing their consciousness and their chances of getting a win is less. So the rest of the others started to cope with the match situation as we played harder to match the score. In the end, we lost the match. We did plenty of mistakes during our match. Since our coach is a good guy he asked us to take a rest and head home.

Ryan and Carter asked Kayden about his lack of concentration in the field, but he brushed it off. As for Ethan, he is still in a pissed mood. Did they fight or something?

"Give them time, they will be back to normal." I shook my head.

"We all are going to Mary's cafe." Ryan announced, but I denied his offer and said I was tired after all. I was still not in the mood after losing the game pathetically. They went as I remembered,

"Wait for me after we finish the match."

I forgot that I asked her to stay after the match. Would she even stay? Since we lost a match she wouldn't even stay. I packed my things and left the locker room to see Mireya was still waiting there staring at nothing. Did she stay because I told her to? She noticed the sound and turned to look at me. She smiled waving her hand. An actual smile.

"Took you long enough to get ready! Even girls are faster than you, Alex." She dragged her dialogue dramatically. I chuckled at her.

"Aren't you not going with the guys?" She asked me curiously with her doe eyes.

"Not in the mood, I guess." I shrugged my shoulders, but she tsked shaking her head.

"You should go and you need to drop me there anyways since my personal chauffer left because I was long enough waiting for you. Treat is on me." She grabbed the hem of my t-shirt and dragged me to my car. She looked like a small kid who is grabbing mommy's t-shirt not to get away from her.

"Then I must definitely eat more!" I teased her.

"You can eat whatever you want." We sat in my car and drove to Mary's cafe. I glanced to see our table where our crew sat there chatting.

"I thought you were not going to join us." Kayden teased me. He is in a better mood as of now. Ethan too looked relieved.

"I changed my mind." I sat beside Ryan. I glanced to see Mireya, but she was nowhere to be seen.

"Where is she?" I mumbled to myself as she appeared out of heaven beside me.

"Hello, guys, I will be your waitress tonight." She smiled looking at us.

"Hey why are you working at this time?" Kayden asked her.

"I ditched my shift here to attend your match duh'." She said in a duh tone.

"It's not even the first time." Ryan muttered as Mireya slapped his head hard enough to make him groan in pain. She glared at him not to say anything. Suspicious.

"What do you all want to eat?" She diverted the question as we were watching their silent exchange of warnings.

"How about you tonight, Sweetheart?" Kayden wiggled his eyebrows at her.

"How about your chopped-off balls on the plate?" She asked with a sweet smile. Ethan spit out the water he was drinking. Everyone started laughing at Kayden's reaction. He was dumbfounded.

"Feisty, I like it." Adam winked at her.

"I'm waiting for you, Sweetheart." Kayden whined.

"Can't finish the day without flirting with a waitress uh!" She quirked one eyebrow at him.

"Your eye color is so beautiful. I'm gonna call you Violet hereafter." Kayden complimented her in between filling the gap.

"Can we order?" I asked impatiently looking at them. We all ordered as she went with our orders. We talked and discussed the loop points in the match and the food arrived making our mouth water. We soon dug into the food and Mireya looked after the other tables meanwhile.

"I need a dessert to finish the meal," Carter whined looking at me. Mireya came in exactly asking what we want. As she was writing down the orders,

"Little baby!" A guy of our age or maybe a year older called Mireya with his arm wide.

What the fuck?

Baby! Seriously!

Does she have a boyfriend? She must have since she is single and that's why she is not talking with other guys!

Why am I not liking the idea of her having a boyfriend?

"Oh my god! Adrian!" She squeal as she placed her notepad on our table and ran towards him jumping into his arms.

"She has a boyfriend?" Kayden asked bewildered. Ryan smiled smugly looking at us.

Why the heck do I find myself disappointed?

That guy picked her up and twirled her as they were laughing. She laughed, a full laugh. This is the first time I have seen her laugh like this. I know it's childish of me to think like that since I have known her for only five days. Others in the restaurant gushed and praised the couple. They were talking as I turned my attention to my phone and I was no longer in the mood for dessert. There was a slight pang in my heart and I don't know why.  excused me and went out as she didn't even notice that I was going out. I clenched and unclenched my fists. I don't know why I was reacting like this. This is just stupid.

"Hey, Alex. Where are you going?" Mireya ran towards me panting with a twinkle and happiness in her eyes. She never looked at me the same way she looked at him.

"I was about to give-" I cut her off in the middle not wanting to hear the introduction about her boyfriend.

"You were busy fucking laughing with your boyfriend all cheesy and romantic. Continue doing the shit whatever you were doing." She flinched at my tone and looked hurt. I think I have gone overboard. Her eyes watered as she blinked back her tears.

Damn! Why did I act rudely to her in the first place!

I sighed and opened my mouth to apologize, she stopped me showing her hand to stop talking and she went away without saying anything.

"Mireya!" I called her but she ran into the cafe without turning back. I don't want to create a scene in front of her boyfriend so I cursed myself. I will apologize to her tomorrow taking her out somewhere since schools were on holiday on Saturday and Sunday. Unfortunately, we have school tomorrow. No, I should apologize today. I ran behind her as I entered the cafe again to see everyone looking at me with a questioning gaze. I could feel the tension thick in the air. Mireya came after getting changed from her work clothes. She avoided my gaze and her boyfriend was shooting glares at me and I was ignoring him.

"Ryan, Can you drop her home?" He asked Ryan. I want a moment with her to apologize to her but these people around me make it difficult. Ryan nodded as Mireya asked her boyfriend,

"Aren't you not coming home? You must be tired after travel." She stated concerned. She is calling him home. I can't believe this.

"I have something to buy, little baby. I will be back." He eyed me in the corner of his eye. I looked at Mireya's retreating figure with Ryan.

"You, come with me." He walked in front. I was not in the mood for his stupid possessiveness lecture. I was the one who made mistake, but I will apologize. I followed him nonetheless.

"You should think before you talk with her, Alex." He stated with a blank expression. I opened my mouth to talk but he stopped me showing his hands.

"Before that, you should know who is her brother or boyfriend." I looked at him confused. He gestured for me to sit and we sat.

"I don't understand?" He chuckled relaxing his glare before.

"I'm her elder brother, Alex. Not her boyfriend." He had a small smile playing on his lips. He is not her boyfriend. I'm so screwed. She was about to tell me yet I didn't let her speak and decided it with myself and yelled at her for stupid reasons. For some reason, I felt relieved that he is not her boyfriend.

"You both didn't even look alike." I sighed at my stupid acts.

"You know that she is an orphan right?" He asked me. I nodded.

"We came to the orphanage at the same time. It was kind of an instinct for us. She told that if she had an elder brother would look like me. She liked having a brother, from that we were siblings. I know we both were from different mothers, but she is my little sister, just how Isabella mean to you." He paused and took a deep breath as the killing gaze was back in his eyes,

"If you ever hurt her, I will skin you alive. Whether physically or emotionally, I will kill you, Alex. Since it was the first time you are meeting me, I'm leaving you. If I heard that you hurt her next time. Nothing holds me back." He showed a dead glare in his eyes enough to make me shiver.

"I know I did a mistake, I should have listened to her." I facepalmed myself shaking my head.

"It's alright. Don't talk to her rudely she is already going through so much. I hope you will be with her." He asked me with a reassuring gaze. What is she going through? Is she in some kind of hurt or pain? Is that why she is not laughing too much? Is that why she is afraid to make new friends? Is that why she is an outcast?

Too many questions were swirling in my mind.

"She is my friend, Adrian. I'm too responsible for her." He smiled nodding. He is not as bad as I thought.

"She looked mad, any ideas to bribe her?" I asked him as he laughed out loud.

"I can't give any it depends on her mood. She hates when someone assumes the situation without listening." He shrugged.

"You are making it worse!" I slumped in my seat.

"Talk with her. Communication is the key." I nodded as I asked him,

"What do you do?" I asked him because I have never seen him here.

"I'm interested in music and I'm currently auditioning." That was wow. He wants to be a musician. Adam too wants to be one.

"My twin wants to be like you."

"Yeah, he told me. He was so enthusiastic and loves music." A soft smile played on his lips. He is a handsome man too. That's why I thought that he was her boyfriend. We talked about random things, he was nice to talk. If someone would talk like this to my sister I would be mad too. After talking with him, I went home.

I waited for the morning to come so that I can apologize to her. I got ready in no time. I left Adam in the home as we will be always tagged along at school. I rushed inside the cafe as Mireya sat there sipping her coffee. I took the seat beside her startling her. She snapped shut her sketchbook with a panicked expression.

"Why the heck are you here!" She snapped annoyed.

"Good morning to you too." I smirked ignoring her comment. She turned and started packing her belongings. I sighed and said,

"Mireya, I'm sorry." She turned and glared at me.

"Alex, I'm seriously not in the mood to talk this thing." She clenched her eyes shut as if she was in some sort of pain.

"Are you okay, Kuschelbär?" I asked her as she sat beside me clutching her stomach.

"Should we go to a doctor?" I ranted but she stood up.

"I understand you are mad at me, but let me give you ride to school." I was the one who was talking she didn't even respond.

"No need, Alex. I'm perfectly alright by my own." She walked away leaving me there. I followed walking behind her until she reached her locker. She walked slowly. She is not in a good state I could tell. She was often clutching her stomach and would sigh. Isabella reached school after we reached and she was about to scold her for leaving without waiting for her, but she held herself back seeing her tired expression.

"I'm going to Chemistry, Rose." She left the scene while I was looking at her.

"She is not in a good mood, Alex."

"Can you explain, why?"

"It's her time of the month." That explains why she was in pain and acting all rude and cold. Whatever I'm not gonna give up. I was trying to talk to her the whole day and she was ignoring me. Adam was furious when he noticed that I left him in the morning. We quickly patched up after buying him food. At the end of the day, I was really tired because of her. She is no easy girl. Girls would have fallen at my feet when I went just to talk with them, here she is making me go behind her.

"Mireya, wait!" I stopped her before she was heading home.

"Please, I'm sorry. It is my mistake. I just assumed things, I thought that you hid this boyfriend from me that's why you were not talking with me. I'm sorry." I said pleading with my eyes hoping she would forgive me.

"I forgive you, Alex. I'm just not in a great mood." She sighed rubbing her stomach.

"I will drop you home." I said smiling. She nodded without fighting which I'm glad. I drove home quickly so that she can rest. I know where her orphanage was so I dropped her off.

"You want to come in?" She asked yawning.

"I will next time, babe." She rolled her eyes giving the same glare. I handed her a bag of dark chocolates. She looked at me shocked.

"I don't know whether you like chocolates or not, but this would help you during you periods." I rubbed my neck embarrassed. A smile was etching to take her lips, but she controlled it. Why she could have smiled. I was disappointed. I would buy Isabella what she wants during that time. I know women go through these tough phases every month. We guys can't bear the pain every month and it's difficult. It's pain for every girl to go through this. I hope she will be okay.

"Thank you." She smiled a little. I waved her bye as she went inside.
