CHAPTER FIVE

(Third Person POV)

REESE'S hand signal did not miss Venom's keen vigilance. His ears pricked, catching the synchronized sound of motions encircling them. Blocking any possibility of exits.

"Once I make an opening, you run," in a whisper, Venom told Killian before he veered to the side. Hoisting his balled fists up and separating his athletic legs, he made a potent defensive stance.

Steadily, Killian sighed and stood still behind his bodyguard. The moment the assassins commence assault, it's going to be a big commotion yet he could feel the excitement rushed greater than apprehension in his veins.

He already saw the second in command of Blood Moon combating earlier but he yearned for more. Nothing could be as fun as watching wild dogs aiming for their throats while ignorance deliberately digging their graves.

With a barely perceptible simper, Killian's gaze shifted from Venom's vigorous back to the assassins who were biding time to attack. He bet those rascals have no idea what lies beneath the promises of those who hired them. They're on the right side of the boat but their foolishness could make it sink giving odds to his bodyguard.

Gradually tugging his hands out of the pocket of his sweatpants, Killian heaved them up and crossed them against his refined torso under the comfy hoodie before he murmured to the thin air, "Fascinating."

Venom who caught of his words frowned however before he could utter remarks, Reese sneered, "Get them."

The rule was absolute. In a gust of wind, movements from different directions came charging all at once.

"Son of a bitch!" Venom denounced and rapidly jumped behind the prince where he saw the first attack would land.

With a dagger heaved up to the air, the blade was meant to stab Killian. Venom handily caught the assassin's arm, slammed his forehead to the mutt, and landed a solid punch on its face. Another one appeared to the left and Venom hastily romped greeting the vermin with a high kick.

The two assassins knocked over the floor yet it was only the beginning of the frenzy as three more of the hired killers were aiming at the prince.

Venom snapped his sharp gaze to them and with a clenched jaw, pounced at the oppressors one by one.

"We could still talk about it, Forcas," Reese grunted while watching how Venom was effortlessly handling his men. The alpha blood flowing through the beta's vessels etched the rogue boss it would be beneficial if he could make him side with them. "The prince's head cost fortunes enough to dethrone your brother and make you the new Alpha of your territory."

Venom Forcas; the second son of the former Alpha of Blood Moon is an open book to the eastern continent. He thrived to be the leader of Blood Moon since childhood however his elder brother inherited the position.

Reese knew Venom still wished to rule Blood Moon hence using the situation to embark the beta's morality which for the first time carved a grimace on Killian's face. The prince darted his attention to the rogue boss. Astonishment died from his emerald green orbs and was replaced with irritation. His lips furled as he was about to speak when two of the assassins pummeled like junk to the air and dropped down an inch to Reese's feet.

Venom stepped into Killian's line of vision with his chest violently heaving up and down, He wiped the corner of his mouth, spit the blood to the floor, and with an unnerving glare, he rasped at the rogue's boss. "You're so full of shits!"

Reese was startled for a moment before his eyes turned to squints. "You're going to regret this, Forcas," he grumbled and flicked his fingers. Instantly, his beaten-up men who were laying on the floor got up. "Kill them!" in a harsh tenor, Reese seethed, pointing his finger at Venom and Killian.

As soon as the decree was delivered, the assassins unleashed fierce grumbles and like sheets of paper ripped their top robes revealing their athletic scarred wriggling trunks which alarmed Venom.

"They're going to shift! Move!" The beta noticed the unguarded door. He turned to Killian and grabbed his wrist but the prince yanked free from his tight grip to pull the pen out of his bun.

As Killian's long hair fell like delicate fibers to his shoulders, he tossed his hand to the side and threw the uncapped pen towards the creature who particularly irked him. Like a dagger, the pen hit Reese's lower neck disrupting the assassin's transformation.

"Let's go," it was only then that Killian allowed Venom to drag him to the exit. As fast as a flash of lightning, they bolted to the door while hearing the rogue boss's angry scourges behind and the gnashing clatters created by his men.

"To the car!" Venom shouted when they successfully left the house and ran directly to the vehicle which could transport them away from the fuming band of cold-blooded killers.

As soon as they got inside the car, Venom promptly turned on the engine and fierce outcry ripped the stillness of the night.

"Put your seatbelt on, your highness!" with sweats falling to the side of his face, Venom instructed the prince and speed off.

Killian obediently perpetrated and looked back to the rest house where he caught sight of enormous and ferocious beasts sprinted out, destroying the door.

"They're coming," shifting his awareness to the front, he informed his bodyguard in his usual serene voice.

"Fucking bastards!" Venom clasped and drove at full speed.

Killian inclined on his seat. With amusement sent him a side glimpse, he jested, "It would be convenient if you simply hand me to them. The bribe is hella tempting."

Venom bestowed him a short glare. "Nothing came out good when you open your mouth. Are you suicidal?"

The prince chuckled and went on with his fun with his sluggish regard turning intense. "What if I am? Want to die with me?"

Venom huffed. A grim expression clouded his face before he disputed, "Die with a crazy whimp? You're kidding me."
