I hummed, eyes bright and lips quirked up into a shadow of a smile as I looked at Alpha Axel. He kept mum the entire time, quietly chewing his plain omelette and a piece of toast. That was all his breakfast, I guessed from the lack of beans or grilled tomatoes or any other meat on his plate. How could the Alpha stomach that?

After a few minutes, my mother in law excused herself, wanting to hurry in the preparations for the day. The more she said it, the more I could feel dread about upcoming events. What did I get myself into?

"Make it quicker. I don't have all day, you know."

I froze at his icy tone, my hand clutching the juice glass in mid-air. Something settled in the pit of my stomach that felt akin to irritation and annoyance.
