I try to compose myself as I head back to my office. I don’t know what my grandfather’s deal is. In my early twenties, he was pressuring me to marry and have kids continuing the family line. I even found someone I thought I could spend my life with, my grandfather actually liked her, then all hell broke loose four years ago and I haven’t been able to be with anyone and my grandfather hasn’t pressed the issue.

“What the hell was that all about?” I ask barely making it through the door. He’s sitting behind my desk, again. This has also been a new habit of his, like he is trying to remind me who is the head of the family.

“You failed to inform me of your new fling and I wanted to see what she is made of, that is all.” He’s rifling through papers on my desk, like he knows what he is looking at.

“Since when do I need to inform you of my personal life? You have never really cared about anything I do since Dominique.” I say pulling the papers out of his hands and
