chapter four

'No, how could he- Was it really her?'

Young-Jae was fucked in bold capital letters that were stamped across his forehead.

He had to be a fool to not know his own boss' name or even face. Minjae's face was literally the least he could've known about his boss considering that he had been working here for over a whole month. The easiest shift of one to six at first since it mostly had a few customers who wanted a simple order of Iced Americano and some random dessert while they sat in the expensive cafe with their laptops and glasses out.

Two weeks later, Seok-Min told him that the rest of the time was too busy and he needed help considering he worked full time so there Jae had stood, wearing his work shirt and apron as he placed orders on different tables, sweating profusely.

"Where'd you go, Min? Too flustered to clap back now?", Minjae laughed loud and obnoxious, obviously amused by his shocked state as she did.

The boy's cheeks flushed red as he frowned looking down at her with an embarrassed expression. She just laughed in response, this time more genuinely than from the objective of mocking Jae and the beautiful sound took him by surprise. He found himself taking a step back to bow at her respectfully with his eyes closed in fear, only opening when he heard another hoarse chuckle erupt from behind him, slightly familiar but he couldn't put his finger on it.

"Are you bullying our little Jae?", Joon questioned, playfully patting the said boy's back which had him stumbling forward for a second but he cleared his throat standing upright with his hands intertwined at his back again.

"Oh No! In fact, your 'little Jae' was bullying me not even a minute ago," she protested only for Jae to grow embarrassed again. He mumbled apologies again and again scolding himself for being so disrespectful without even knowing her. Minjae watched him bow at her, eyes refusing to meet her stern gaze. It made her insides tingle in excitement.

Where in the world had he been all this time?

"It's alright, just remember to wear your name tag and keep your shirt buttoned up tomorrow onwards. Now, get me a nice cup of cappuccino," she hopped down from the table and threw herself on the lush chair of the coffee shop while Young-Jae's left slapped against his bare chest which was exposed to the girl opposite him due to his constant bowing. His lips were sealed together and his cheeks were burning with red dusting them.

God, was he flustered, His boss, the girl he just threatened was gorgeous and as angry as he was in that moment his heart still fluttered his chest when she giggled and touched the place of the name tag. It was almost unbearable to be aware of the fact that she was now aware of his name too.

Quietly he let his fingers poke at the thumping area where Minjae's fingers had brushed him before he suddenly snapped out of it, the realization that this was still a public place striking him when he twirled onto his toes to look back at her.

He watched her chuckle softly at something Joon had said, her hair shining slightly as the light hit them. Jae sighed, the embarrassment still not gone as he brewed a delicious cup of coffee for her. A slow smile crept on his face when he caught her stealing glances at him but he didn't let her see it, immediately facing down to sprinkle brown sugar over coffee in the shape of a smile.

It was unprofessional of course, but it wasn't too professional to be so rude to your boss either so maybe he could make up with this? He shrugged to himself finally deciding to just take it to her regardless of what her reaction might be. After ensuring that his buttons were done all the way up, he rolled his shoulders back and carried the cup of coffee in his hands, settling it right in front of her.

"Thank you, Mr. Min," she voiced out, the air of giggles in her voice still present and he swore his knees bucked when she looked up at him with the same smile she was tossing around to the unbeknownst boy sitting in front of her which Yoongi had already assumed to be her assistant.

"You're welcome," he voiced out politely turning around to leave and hide comfortably behind his counter so he could shamelessly stare at her again.

"I'm just saying a boy like him wouldn't be suitable for you," Joon advised softly taking the seat in front of her. She just sighed moving back in her seat and carelessly tossing her glasses onto the paperwork in front of her.

"I'm not gonna date him Joon, I was just asking if he was pretty enough for a hookup," she mumbled shyly even though her tone didn't seem shy to the other at all.

"Just find yourself a call boy like the one you called a few days ago, you should think about your reputation Jae. He's a waiter at your coffee shop, what if someone finds out?" Even though Minjae was completely fired up at the classist comment made by her assistant, she just sighed shaking her head. He was correct after all, she wasn't some random rich girl, she was the owner of a country spread chain of restaurants and coffee shops and if the word spread around? It would be her worst nightmare. "Very unprofessional," he continued.

"You're not wrong Joon but maybe I could be friends with him- You know what? Maybe you are right, I should just ask for another escort. They keep things confidential at least plus he wouldn't know who I am," she mumbled sliding the bunch of surfed papers to Joon who picked them up in a moment, arranging them messily before stalking to the door to forward them to their Gangnam branch.

He turned around and rested his elbow on the handle of the door as he eyed Minjae suspiciously. "You're not going to leave him alone," he stated, proud of his judgment. "I can feel it, you know? That aura of yours when you're about to do something you shouldn't."

Minjae tried to scoff at her best friend's statement but her grin gave her away so she nodded at him, pressing her lips together to match his serious expressions. "Absolutely not."

"You're shameless Jae, completely and utterly shameless," he accused standing at the doorframe while she grinned in response. "Also, very stubborn."

"Fuck off," she announced in a sing-song voice, flipping Joon off with her middle fingers held up in the air. He shook his head, apparently both fond and done with her antics.

Minjae huffed loud a slight laugh when he stepped outside the room and slammed the door behind himself like he always did. The girl fished out her phone, letting out an 'ooh' at the notification she had received of him following her back.

She really was shameless but did she care?

"Let's see," she whispered to herself, propping her feet on top of the desk and rocking her chair back and forth very softly to avoid falling back and hitting her head as she scrolled through the waiter's Twitter, finding a few pictures and a couple of tweets about random things. She scoffed tossing her phone onto the table. Why couldn't he post something interesting? Is what she thought but then again, she had literally no pictures or videos on her account either.

Minjae stepped out of her heels that made her feet ache like hell and locked her door before she flopped down on her couch, done with work for the day and only waiting for evening to come.

It was when she was twirling around her office waiting for the next meeting when an idea flashed into her mind. She excitedly hopped back to her seat and unlocked her phone. Immediately sliding into the waiter boy's messages. There was no other way to talk to him without their status being an obstacle so she sent him a 'hello' and a 'would you like to be my friend?' not quite aware that this isn't how you make friends over the internet but she didn't know any better.

~

The boy on the other hand was about to record a mini-clip for his twitter account but stopped when he had received a notification for his other account, barely having 50 followers and he frowned only to let out a rather loud 'ahh' when he realized who had texted him.

It was the girl with the weird username.

She had sent him a 'hello' and a 'would you like to be my friend?' which he found weird but also cute so he chuckled lowly while replying to her with a greeting of his own and answering positively to her question. She had only ten followers, no pictures on her account, just a few tweets about her obsession with plushies which had him giggling again.
