CHAPTER 3

Celeztine’s Point of View

“What’s happening here?” My eyes shifted immediately from Zeus to the woman I talked to earlier she seems the manager or owner of the restaurant based on her authority.

“I-I’m sorry Ma’am, it’s all my fault.” I apologized and bowed my head. This is my first-day training and it shouldn’t go this way.

“It’s your first day and you already caused troubles!” The woman grunted.

“Are you dumb? This asshole is sexually harassing your waitress and you still put the blame on her?” The coldness of his voice made me look at him, was he defending me? I tried my best not to show my small smiles even my butterflies were celebrating inside.

“Customers are always right! Apologized Celeztine !” The woman insisted glaring heavily at me.

I nodded and look at the men.

“I-I’m..”

Before I finish my sentence.

“No,”  Zeus uttered firmly before grabbing my arms as he drags me outside.

“W-wait Zeus.” I protested but he doesn’t seem to hear it.

“Don’t ever come back here!” I heard the woman exclaim on top of her lungs.

“I-I’m sorry,”  I screamed before Zeus finally dragged me out of the restaurant.

I don’t know why I followed him until we reach a park.

“Don’t ever come back to that place.”

I look at him, how does he have to be this so perfect? His aristocrat's nose was so proud and kissable small lips, his green eyes were so tantalizing. I gulped.

“Don’t stare at me.”

I immediately removed my gaze at him and look at the children playing instead.

“I-I’m sorry, you shouldn’t have defended me,” I mumbled breaking the silence. I don’t know why my heart was beating so fast, was it because he was sitting beside me?

“You’re unbelievable.” He growled.

“I need that job.”

“Then go on. Go back there and let those people harass you.”  He said coldly before standing up.

“W-wait are you going home?”  I asked as I stands up too.

“It’s none of your business.” He uttered before starting to walk out.

“T-thank you!” I tried to exclaim yet it seems he didn’t hear it.

But I was stunned when he stopped for a moment.

“Go home.” He stated before he vanish from my vision.

Small lips formed on my lips as I started walking on my way home.

I just lost a job but here I am smiling like an idiot, if someone sees me right now they’ll think that I am crazy.

Then I remembered I am still jobless, I’m doomed.

I tried to look for a job vacancy but it seems like it’s not my lucky day today.

My phone rang, I frowned when an unknown number flashed on my screen.

I swipe to the left to answer it.

“Hello?”

“Is this Miss Celeztine Dior?” A voice of a woman on the other line.

“Y-yes?”

“Congratulations Miss Dior, you’re qualified to assist Governor Guevarra on his flight to France. Please let us know now if you’re interested.”

My eyes widened.

Is this for real?

“Y-yes of course I’m interested!” I replied without thinking twice, I need this.

“Great, then you may now proceed to our office today if you’re available and we’ll let you know about the other details.” The woman added.

I nodded even she can’t see it.

“Yes, I will. Thank you.” I replied full of excitement.

She already ended the call and yet I still feel grateful.

I immediately walk my way home and change my clothes. Maybe I’ll just call Emily later. I wore a simple long-sleeve white polo and high-waisted black jeans, I also wear two inches black heels even though I’m tall enough already. I also let my long hair down and just put on light makeup.

The staff who called me earlier texted me the exact address of the office that’s why I didn’t have a hard time finding it.

I heaved a deep breath before entering the building, my jaw almost drops when I saw its interior, it doesn’t seem like a Governor's office, it looks like a five-star hotel.

I pull into an elevator because it’s a five-floor building and I didn’t expect this to be this huge, elegant, and expensive-looking office compare to the other government offices.

I press the doorbell button and it automatically opens. The technology here is unbelievable too, the gossips are true, Governor Guevarra is a billionaire.

I saw a woman in her mid-20s I guess wearing business attire shifts her gaze from her laptop to me.

“Good afternoon Ma’am.” I greeted.

“Hi, there are you Miss Dior?” She asked.

I nodded and walk toward her.

“I’m Yvonne, Governor Guevarra’s Secretary. Alright before anything else I would like to congratulate you for passing the interview and being one of the lucky students chosen.”

“Thank you, Ma’am,” I replied and smiled at her.

“So here are your responsibilities and task during the flight, I wrote it down already. You’ll be the one who’ll assist the Governor and it’s an opportunity my dear, who knows the Governor, might like your service and hire you as one of his staff. By the way, here is your salary. And the recommendation letter of the Governor for your internship on one of the famous airlines in the country will be given to you on the last day of the flight as well as the bonus salary.” Miss Yvonne explained as she hands me the white envelope.

“Thank you, Ma’am, I’m so grateful for this opportunity,” I exclaimed.

“That’s because our Governor wants everyone to be happy.” Miss Yvonne replied.

After our conversation, I went out of that building with a heart full of hope.

Don’t worry Dad, I’ll make everything for your operation. You’ll be fine.

While I’m inside the cab, I can’t help to think about the white envelope that MIss Yvonne handed me. That’s why I immediately open which made my eyes automatically widen to see hundreds of bluebills inside. This is a huge amount.

I was taken aback when my phone rang.

“H-hello?”  I answered without looking at the phone screen, I was still stunned at the huge amount of money on my hands.

“Is this Miss Dior, your father had a heart attack earlier and the doctor told me to let you know that we have to proceed to the operation as soon as possible.”

My smile slowly fades with what I’ve heard.

“How's my dad Ma’am?”  I asked nervously.

“He’s fine now, but we can’t assure you how long his condition will be stable, he might get a heart attack again.”

“T-thank you, I’m on my way.”

After the call, I stop by in front of the bank and withdraw all the money left, I think this will be enough as a downpayment.

When I reach the hospital I immediately went to the nurse to plead for the downpayment first but unfortunately…

“We’re very sorry Ma’am, we can’t accept downpayment for a big operation, it has to be paid full or atleast 75% to avoid such circumstances.”

With heavy shoulders, I went to Dad’s room but I didn’t go inside, I stayed outside for a couple of minutes watching him with the glass door that divides us.

I’m sorry Dad, but don’t worry I’ll do my best, I’m sure once I got the bonus after the flight then we don’t have to worry about your operation. Tears started to flow down my eyes, I smiled bitterly. Just keep on hanging Dad, we can get through all of this, just hold on tight still.

Days passed so fast and today is the day of our flight. I’m nervous and excited at the same time, this is my first time on a job as a flight attendant though my only passenger is the Governor, the other two chosen students were my classmates Calvin and Cara, they’re coupled and they’ll stay in the cabin room to assist the pilot if needed while I’ll be the one assigned to the Governor.

My phone rang and smiles automatically formed on my lips to see Emily’s name.

“Hi, Emily.”

“Oh my God girl good luck on your flight, I envy you! But of course, you need it more than I do so give your best shot to the Governor, remember you’re also carrying our school’s name and reputation alright, take care.”

“Thank you, Emily,” I mumbled before ending the call.

I was wearing a dark business jacket dress and thick bottom heels, this uniform looks elegant and classy. The fit is perfectly fine on me. I smiled, it feels like I am already floating in my dreams. I heaved a deep breath and calm myself before I step myself on the private plane of the Governor.

Be professional Celeztine, and apply what you’ve learned.

The Governor finally came inside the plane as his eyes automatically settled on me.

“Your uniform looks good on you.” His baritone voice echoed inside the plane before he started to walk to his seat. He only has two guards in the black suit with him.

My heart was pumping so fast. Probably because I’m a bit intimidated with Governor’s aura, he’s well-known and has a big name not just in Politics but also in the field of business, I think feeling this way is just normal for such a starter like me.

“Do you want anything, Sir?” I asked, trying my best not to stutter or sound nervous.

“No, just stay beside me.”
