Are you here yet? Gabriel sent to Axel and Megan. He, Sara, and Marcus were just now coming up on the old witch clearing. They referred to that clearing by that name because centuries ago a coven of dark witches used to meet here and perform rituals that required sacrifices, typically human or some form of magical creature. The Witch's Council that came into power 500 or so years ago, had since outlawed the use of black magic. They had spells set to monitor if anyone uses black magic. If you were caught you could be stripped of your powers.
Yes. We will be there in three minutes. We got here a little early and did some scouting around Rotterford’s. We might have overheard something interesting. Megan replied.
Is it about Sebastian?
I know this was a short chapter. Chapter 10 will be much longer. My plan is for both parts to finally merge. If chapter 10 is too long, I may have to split it.
He’s gaining on you. Hurry. Faster. Faster. You need to run faster, Emily repeated to herself as she ran through the woods. She was running as fast as her legs would carry her. Emily was leaping over fallen trees, ducking low branches, dodging dense areas of underbrush, but she could still hear him chasing her. The faster she ran the closer he sounded. Emily was too scared to turn around. She swore that she could feel him breathing on her neck. Just as she felt like she could not run anymore and her legs were giving out, Emily tripped over a log that she tried to leap over. As her foot caught on the log she stretched her arms out to catch herself. As the ground was rushing up to meet her, Emily braced herself for the hard impact that she knew was coming.Gasping, Emily sat up quickly with her arms stretched out in front of her. It had just been a dream, she realized. Sighing, Emily lea
Looking at the clock, Emily saw that it was 6:15. She was starting to wonder if Mr. Kingsley had forgotten to tell her that she was supposed to meet everyone downstairs. He had not seemed to like her at all. Maybe he is trying to get her in trouble with Lord Rotterford on the very first day before she even really meets him. Emily stood up and was heading toward the door when it was flung open. She quickly stumbled back to avoid being hit by the door. In the doorway stood a large, older heavier set man that was dressed in a suit. His face was red, and he was breathing heavily. Emily had a bad feeling that she was about to meet Lord Rotterford, and she did not make a good first impression. Emily went to speak when he cut her off yelling.“WHY ARE YOU JUST STANDING AROUND UP HERE? WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE PLAYING AT,” he yelled at her. Stepping into the room he leaned down and yelled in
Night was falling and Gabriel and the others were still no closer to finding Sebastian. Gabriel could tell that Sarah was becoming more and more worried the longer that it took for them to find him, but he also knew that they were all exhausted. This would be the second night that Sebastian has been with the hunters, no one had slept or eaten in over forty eight hours. They had been too busy running, driving, or searching during all of that time. It seemed they were going to have to search closer to Rotterford’s estate and possibly in the estate, but Gabriel knew that they needed to rest and eat first. If he and conri were struggling with exhaustion and hunger, he knew the others had to really be struggling. Gabriel knew that they could not chance making simple mistakes at this point due to exhaustion and hunger. He sent out a message for everyone to meet back at the SUV that Axel and Megan had brought down.
Emily was just starting to worry about Mrs. Kingsley when she heard the knob of her bedroom door starting to turn. Tensing Emily held her breath scared to see who might come through the door. Had Mrs. Kingsley told Lord Rotterford about her trying to leave? Had Lord Rotterford decided to come up here and see if she was following his directions? The door opened, and Mrs. Kingsley hurried and slipped in. She made sure to close the door quietly behind her. Emily let out the breath that she had been holding in a huge woosh and put her hand over her racing heart. “I know you said that you would be back, but you scared me,” Emily said a little breathlessly. ‘I was worried that Lord Rotterford had decided to come up and see if I was following his directions.” Emily wasn’t going to admit
Emily was exhausted. She had been running most of the night. She would slow down and walk a few times to catch her breath and rest, but she was too scared to stop completely. Her legs were now to the point that they were shaking and felt like jelly, but Emily knew if she stopped that she might not get back up again. Everything on her body was hurting. She could feel the bruising and swelling from Lord Rotterford hitting and grabbing her.Emily had heard the baying of the hounds about an hour after she left the mansion. Mrs. Kingsely had been right. She had heard them most of the night as she continued to run. It had scared her more though when she quit hearing the baying about an hour ago. Emily could only hope that meant that the hounds had led everyone in a different direction far from her. She was abl
Once Breanna got everyone to the clearing, Gabriel updated them on what they heard. “The good news is that Sebastian is alive and he is somewhere in the woods. We either missed where they have him somehow or he is closer to the estate. We do have an added complication though. The forest surrounding the estate is crawling with hunters. The girl that Rotterford wanted so badly was apparently not a willing guest. She has run and is presumed to be in the woods surrounding the estate somewhere. Rotterford really seems to want this girl for some reason. I do not know if she has any powers, special abilities, is armed, or what. If you see her, try to stay away if possible. We do not know if she poses a threat.”“I think the fact that she ran from him shows that we stand a higher chance of her siding with us,” Marcus observed.&lsquo
Gabriel and Sarah had been looking for Sebastian most of the day. Gabriel could tell that Sarah was getting more and more anxious as the day went on and they still had not found Sebastian. He saw that it was slowly getting a little darker too. The sun would be setting soon. Just as Gabriel was about to check in with Axel and Megan again they heard the hounds that had been baying for the last couple of hours get louder. I hate to say this, Gabriel sent to Sarah, but maybe we should try heading toward the hounds. Maybe they are looking for Sebastian. We will just keep careful and keep a good distance between them and us. Okay.
What did you do to our mate! Conri yelled, as Gabriel felt like he looked at his mate from far away. He almost felt like he was seeing her from the far end of a tunnel. Gabriel could now feel that his bond with Conri was fully back. He could also feel memories of the pain and suffering that Conri had been protecting him from by blocking their connection. Conri had put up so many barriers to try to protect Gabriel that it took a while for Conri to even recognize their mate. Conri had given up on the thought of them finding their mate. He had accepted the fact that he was going to go feral, but had wanted to spare Gabriel for as long as possible. Gabriel now looked at the delicate woman that he knocked over and he felt like his heart was being squeezed in his chest. Normally a single look or smell would alert you th
