Chapter four

Pain lacerated through me as Alpha Lucian's teeth sank into my neck and I let out a painful scream. It hurt so badly and I tried to pull away, but he held me tighter until I could barely move an inch.

"Please stop!" I screamed as tears filled my eyes and I clenched my fist in pain. I felt him release a liquid into my skin. The marking. He had marked me as his.

"Please stop!"

I cried harder at the pain that travelled through my body and even he pulled away licking the wound. He pulled my face to meet his eyes and guilt sat in those bright green eyes.

"It's over. I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to do that." He said and I staggered backwards, leaving his embrace and suddenly wishing I could go back in his arms. But I was too scared, fear blinded my vision and I reached for my neck, the wound had mostly healed but I knew there was a mark there.

I looked up at the Alpha. "Don't come near me, please." I whispered fearfully and I noticed something flash in his eyes before he transformed into his wolf form and ran out of the woods.

I collapsed to the floor, suddenly feeling weak to my bones and sobbed loudly.

"Raina!"

"Raina!"

I hear my name being called and groaned as I manage to open my eyes. A throbbing headache threatened to split my head open and I was almost blinded by the lights that assaulted my eyes.

I looked around to see I was in a room, with the bright flower designs on the ceiling, I knew it was Wren's. I sat up quickly looking around expecting him to come out but I heard the shower running in the bathroom and swung my legs from the bed and my eyes on the room door.

"Stop Rain." I sigh, slumping back to the bed and giving up on escaping when Wren had a good sense of hearing.

"What?" I grumbled and heard him chuckle at the end of the room. I rolled my eyes, reaching for my neck as what had happened resurfaced in my mind. The feeling of the Alpha's teeth in my neck, marking me, claiming me as his.

"Who is he?" A deep voice asked from beside me and I turned to see Wren in a brown short. His muscles, chest and biceps dripped with water and flexed as he wiped his black curly hair with a towel. I cleared my throat, looking away from him.

Anger filled me. Of course I knew what he was asking about, I dropped my hand from my neck. Wren and I hadn't spoken in years and suddenly he wanted to know who my mate was.

"I'm sorry sir, but I don't think it is any of your business." I say making sure to hide my irritation to avoid punishment.

He took a threatening step towards me and I shot to my feet, backing away from him. He smiled at my uneasiness and he stopped. A devious smile on his lips.

"I'm concerned Rain. Who did this to you?" He asks again

"No one." I replied as my eyes stung with tears as the memory of my neck being bitten by an Alpha who was my mate.

"Was it one of the alphas?" He asks, this time I noticed the anger in his voice and I stepped away from him fearfully.

"Can I go now, sir?"

"It's Wren to you Rain, you don't need to address me as Sir. I care about you and I need to know who did this to you." He said softly and this time the tears rolled down my cheeks, unable to hold it any longer, I sniffed.

I hated myself for feeling this way, to appear weak in front of the enemy. He's your friend, I heard a tiny voice inside of me and I shook my head. No. Wren became the enemy after what he did to me.

"It's not your business. You do not care about me because I am just a slave and I should know my place in this pack. Those were your words years ago. Why do you suddenly care?" I screamed at him and ran out of his room, slamming the door on my way out.

On getting to my room, I lay on the bed and let my tears fall freely. All other omegas were absent meaning they were working right now. I wanted to go work too but I was a mess and I would only anger Taryn.

"Raina!" I heard Logan's voice outside the room and I shot to my feet, fear creeping up my spine as he pushed the door open, his dark eyes glaring silently at me.

"Alpha." I answered.

"Wren made it known to me that an Alpha overstepped last night." He said and a gasp of surprise escaped my lips but I stayed quiet.

"Am I right, Raina?" And this time I nodded shamefully, bowing my head in respect.

"Talk. I'm only here because my brother is concerned about you and as Alpha, I am also worried." He says impatiently.

"Yes Alpha."

"Who was it that marked you?" He asks, his eyes trailing up my neck and I shifted uncomfortably, reaching my neck to shield the mark from him.

"Alpha Lucian." I gulped at the sound of his name in my lips.

"Lucian? Are you sure? He's a friend and I don't think he would mark someone who is not his mate." Logan said, sounding disappointed and doubtful and I nodded inwardly, of course. They were friends and he would never believe the words of a slave.

"I don't know Alpha. I don't remember the face." I lied, not wanting to come between those two.

"Ok then. If you remember anything make sure to let me know." Logan said, looking around nervously.

"Thank you, Alpha." I said, bowing down in gratitude.

"I'm sorry this happened to you. I would ask Lucian about this."

"No, please. He didn't do anything!" I said a little too quickly and Logan smirked.

"He is your mate."

"Yes." I said softly.

"You knew he did this and refused to tell me the truth. Why did he mark you without your permission?" Logan asked and I shook my head.

"I don't know Alpha. May I leave now, please?" I ask. He nods and I bow and he leaves.

I went to the bathroom, washing away the filth from the woods and getting dressed before leaving for the kitchen.

Unfortunately, Taryn is there and I could see that she is angry as she barks orders to the slaves.

"I saw Alpha Wren take her in yesterday." A short blonde said to Taryn.

Great, they were talking about me.

"There you are." Taryn smiled deviously when I walked in.

"Good morning." I greeted and joined the rest of the girls who lined up in front of her. I avoided their suspicious gaze.

"What's so good about this morning? Where were you?" Taryn asks, as she looks down at her nails absentmindedly.

"I had a little accident last night."

"I was just told Wren took you into his room yesterday, why was that?" She asked again, this time she pinned her gaze on mine, silently threatening me to lie once more.

"I passed out and he decided to help me." I replied and she scoffed before taking a step towards me.

"I don't want a repeat of what happened with Alpha Lucian. Do you understand?" She said, smirking in my face. My jaw ticked my jaw at the thought of her already knowing what happened but said nothing as I nodded.

"Good. Now let's get to work. I am regrouping you all and you will all have new jobs in the pack."
