SIXTY SIX

“Wait” Lucian called after. I ignored his call as I hastened my steps but who was I kidding. I knew how fast he was. He grabbed my arm making me stop.

“Hey, hey. Hey. Didn’t you hear me call you?” He asked with a frown.

“Ahem_ sorry about that. I honestly did not hear you” I lied.

“OK” he replied.

Breaking the silence I asked “So why did you come after me?”

“Yeah about that, I wanted to know why you decided to leave the table early”

“Oh I’m sorry. I’m I supposed to leave last as part of my duty?” Mind you I was being very sarcastic. Why else did he want from me. Everything was already beginning to tire me.

“No, no. not that Raina. I just thought you were upset” Now he sounded upset.

“No I’m not. Why would you think that?” I asked.

“Nothing” I gave me a ‘really’ look. Did I really think that I was going to fall for that?

“Ok, fine. You leave the gathering whenever you get upset and sometimes you do not even say anything at all.” He defended.

“True but I’m good” I lied again.
