Chapter 9

She couldn't believe that the fool even dared to call and chat her up after everything that happened. Yet, he did because he was that shameless.

There was no conscience in him. He was a complete asshole!

In Anger, Aria threw her phone on her desk and reclined her back into her comfortable chair. She had a lot of work to do that and thinking about that cheat was not going to help her out in any way.

A large pile of files was waiting for her to start working on but Aria was tired. Her mind was weak. She has gone through major heartbreak and still suffered the aftermath effect of a reckless night at the Vouge Bar.

Just then, thoughts of the unknown man she had slept with flooded her mind. She remembered the way his tongue had tasted every portion of her body like she was the sweetest meal ever. Her core tightened, as her wild thoughts started to drive her crazy just like they had done last night when she was still at the mercy of that strange man.

Her phone rang and she jolted out of her sinful thoughts, fearing it might be her boss, she picked it up without checking the caller.

"Hello, Aria?"

Aria's eyes went wide in shock as the brain recognized the voice. A wave of maddening anger boiled from deep within her core as she put a face to the voice.

How dare the bastard call her after everything that happened? Why was he intent on breaking her into pieces?

Not wanting to speak with him, Aria ended the call and tossed the phone back on the desk with a click of her tongue.

He must be insane!

He had been cheating on her throughout their relationship and she had been stupid enough to hope he will change. But he never did! It only got worst and she couldn't take it anymore. The last one was the final stroke, she was done with him!

He was her first love and she loved him unconditionally. She gave him her all and she promised to make him her first and her last.

She never cared about his money. She truly loved him for who he was, but he broke her heart over and over again.

He was from a very rich background but that never showed in his personality. He was caring and very humble, those were the qualities she thought she'd die for.

They had been together since high school and because of his understanding and lovable personally, most girls could jump off a cliff to gain his attention but he had chosen her back then. A simple girl who didn't care about material things. A girl who only wanted to know what true love really felt like.

Having been together for that long, Aria knew he was cheating on her with other girls but this time around he went too far. He slept with her best friend!

Fucking bastard!

She closed her eyes again and tried to ease out her mind from the guy who was supposed to love her like no other, but as she did, a different man came into her mind again.

The unknown man.

She could not understand why her head kept bringing him up. His words, his touches, his kisses, and best of all the lovemaking. It was all so tempting her mind refused to let it go. It became more like a coping mechanism. Each time she got stressed and closed her eyes, he was there, showing her things she never thought she could feel.

"Focus, Aria! Get it out of your head!" She snapped at herself. "Men are nothing but assholes! All of them!"

She forces her mind on the long pile of files on her desk and started sorting them out. She summarised the ones that needed summarising and took note of those that didn't.

She had to find a way to distract her mind from that strange man. If she continued thinking about him, it would become too risky, even dangerous depending on the case. She didn't know anything about him nor was she planning to go back to that bar ever again. That was a mistake too costly to repeat.

As she focuses on her workload, her phone rings again, and checks the caller. It's her ex-fiancé once again.

Aria wished she could strangle him to death! Why was he disturbing her life?

She would just have to tell him off, refusing his calls wouldn't stop him. She pressed the accept key and held the phone to her ear.

"Baby, please do not hang up!" He rushed as fast as he could.

"I am listening, speak!" Aria said in a cold voice.

"Ah, thank you so much for hearing me out. Baby, I am sorry. Please forgive me, I don't know what came over me! Please we can still sort this out. You and I are meant to be!" He begged but Aria only felt hatred for him at this point.

She had been nothing but the best of partner to him and how did he pay her back? He cheated.

"Baby, I know you're angry but I need you Aria. Please, you are everything to me-"

"But you have Sofia..." Aria trailed reminding him of her supposed best friend.

"Aria she is just like the rest. There is nothing special about her. There is no spark. You are my spark, Aria. You are the only thing I want."

There was a time when these words melted her heart and she found herself in his arms again. But not anymore. She wasn't going back to that life.

"Baby, please when do you close from work? I'll come to pick you up," he says.

"I don't need a private taxi, Ethan. I can get a regular cab, thank you, "

Aria answered rejecting his offer.

"Baby, I will be anything you want me to be. Just tell me when you finish work, I will take you to the best restaurant in town and we can talk over dinner, please!"

"Ethan, there is nothing to talk about. Whatever you think we still have, is over. It has been over since the day you decided to sleep with Sofia a few days after proposing to me!" Aria snapped.

"And now you have the guts to call me? Do you think I am stupid or what? Look, if you don't want me to call the police on you, stay away from me. Do not call me and stay out of my life!"

"Aria, you don't mean that. That's not you. You are a very sweet girl." He tried to convince her but Aria's mind was made up.

"You made that sweet girl cruel Ethan, and I hope your reasons were worth it!" Not wanting to hear him anymore, Aria ended the conversation and switched off her phone. Her boss could call bet through the office landline.

Ethan was sick if he thought he could get me back into his filthy life! I'll rather die single than allow such a man close to me anymore. She hadn't even realized her best friend, Sofia was one of his girlfriends.

Ethan was a sick man! He thought he could keep playing her, well, the jokes on him, because he thought wrong!
