(Leigh’s POV)
Before Alex could explain himself, I had already hit his hand on my thigh with my cellphone, making him roar with laughter. He raises his hands after ending the call and still laughing.
“Chase won’t accept any of my explanations anyway,” he says, picking his cup and sipping coffee. “He likes you,” he continued as his smile disappeared.
I almost choked at what he said.
He heaves a deep sigh and leans on the backrest of the chair. “So, tell me about your family before we go there.” He clucks his tongue and shakes his head, surprising me. “I don’t want to go in a war without knowing anything, Leigh.”
I frown at him. “You’re not going into a war, husband,” I utter, twitching my lips and squinting my eyes. “But come to think of it,
(Alexander’s POV)“When you said home, I didn’t expect this long travel, Leigh,” I didn’t mean to complain, but three hours of driving was not a joke. “Where do I turn?” I asked as we entered a rough road.“Do you see those string lights ahead?” She pointed with her finger. “And do you see that house? You can stop the car there.”“I need a massage later,” I groan, massaging the back of my neck. Should I have known the long drive, I have asked my driver this morning.“I’ll give you a full massage later if we survive this one,” Leigh said, struggling to unfasten her seatbelt. She cursed under her breathe, causing me to shake my head.“Let me do it,” I shake my head, unbuckling my seatbelt to help her with hers. Her hands are
(Leigh’s POV) “Alexander Hearst, what have you done?” I ask furiously as I watch him roam around my tiny bedroom as if he is in a museum. I am crying in a panic, but my crazy husband seems to be amused with my artwork and the cleanliness of my room. “A week delayed?” I yelled, growling at him.He turns to me. “It was taking you too long to think. If you’re not pregnant, then it’s easier to file the divorce.” He pulls the chair on my study table and pulls me to him, sitting me on his lap.I bit my lower lip to stop myself from crying, but the back of my legs was swollen after my father paddled me five times that I could not help myself from yelping. I grip his arm, stopping myself from screaming.Alex’s forehead knitted, and he seem
(Leigh’s POV)Not breaking the kiss, I hold the hem of his shirt, hoping to take it off, but I am only putting myself in an embarrassing situation because my hands fidget, not knowing what to do. I groan, making him chuckle in between our kisses. He helps me pull off his shirt and toss it somewhere in my bedroom. When his lips parted my mouth and glided to my jaw, we both heard the ringing of my cellphone.No. Not just mine, but also his.Alex reaches for my cellphone and reads the screen but returns it on the table, and he bites my earlobe before whispering into my ears. “Leigh, baby, it’s Seb.”“Who?” I ask, trying to remember the name which seems familiar. His burning kisses had impaired my hearing and affected my brain.I felt him smiling as his lips brushed the skin of my neck. “Seb... Sebastian,
(Leigh’s POV)When Alex and I enter the dining room, my nostrils get excited smelling my mother has prepared all my favorite food. My eyes give Alex a quick look, and he seems to be amazed at the long table. I hold his hand and tug him to the two vacant seats. We are like in a traditional classroom, always having the same seating arrangement. Papa is seated on the head seat of the table, while Mama is in his right while Granny is on his left. The following would be according to our birth order, and being the youngest, I would be on the farthest end of the table. We usually have dinner outside when we are all together since we do not fit at the long table now that my brothers and sisters have their own family and children, but today, only the adults are in the dining room. Suddenly, I want to join my nephews and nieces in the backyard, enjoying their dinner.
(Leigh’s POV)Our first dinner was a success, but I had to excuse myself from everyone when my phone rang. When I saw Seb’s name on my cellphone’s screen, Alex told me I had to answer it, reminding me I could not avoid Sebastian forever.I walked back to my room and directly went inside the bathroom. I sat inside the bathtub, and for a while, I stared at my phone screen before accepting the call.“Seb,” was the only word I could say. My hands are trembling, and I feel like choking after making such an impulsive decision. An intelligent person would not opt for that irresponsible choice.“Sweetheart, finally,” Seb said as soon as he heard my voice. The worry, instead of anger, in his voice, melted my heart away. “I met Alfie this morning, and he explained to me everything.”I started to bawl like a child. When
(Leigh’s POV)“Stop it, Leigh,” complains Alex as he squats immediately, holding my thighs tighter, but when I start wriggling and screaming, we both fall on the ground. He rolled and caught me before my bottom could hit the ground, holding my hips tighter, but we stopped moving and perhaps even breathing when the lights turned on.“Kayleigh!” yelled my Papa after seeing Alex and me in a very awkward position. The hem of my skirt landed gracefully on Alex’s face, making me look like sitting on his face. I have completely forgotten the slimy thing I touched on the tree branch. With his tight grip on my hips, I think he planned to place me safely on his side, but we could not move because we were caught on the wrong foot.I stand up, helping Alex get up. He massages his arm after steadying himself before my father.“S
(Leigh’s POV)“What?” I ask, swallowing hard as I look shocked in front of Alex.“Oh!” Alex mumbles and smiles sheepishly. “I should have been clear, Leigh. What I want to say is let’s stay married for a month, and then we can have the divorce.”I sigh in relief, nodding at him, then I stop and furrow my forehead. “One month? Why?” My eyes went round again.“Because it’s easier to tell your parents we want a divorce after finding out you’re not really pregnant.” His eyebrows knitted. “I overdid the act, telling them you’re delayed, so they’ll be expecting.”I nod, agreeing with him. “You’re right, but it’s a better excuse because he planned to place me in the sack and hang it in the kitchen.”“That’s
(Leigh’s POV)My eyes close when Alex brushes his soft lips into my mouth. I expect a quick kiss, a good night kiss, but he starts nipping, playfully biting my lower lip, cascading down a tingling sensation to my core. This has never happened to me before, but marrying Alex, my body seemed to tell me I have needs. His huge hand glides slowly on my nape, making my hair in my arms and legs rise, while his other hand caresses my face.“You’re driving me crazy, Leigh,” he breathes, and when I part my lips, his tongue enters my mouth, challenging my tongue to duel with him. I know I am not a good kisser, but I accept his challenge, but as I duel with his tongue, a moan of pleasure escapes my mouth, drowning me in a pool of awaiting bliss. He kisses me deeply and passionately, burning my skin as his fingers brush the strands of my hair away from my face and glide his hand, traili
