Chapter 12, Ugly fight

Lucas

Lucas met Derrick at lake Maine at exactly 5:58pm. Derrick was already there sitting on a plank of wood and waiting for him. Lucas walked into the cleared circle at the centre of the bushy lake Maine. To their right, there was a river. This was where Lucas and his friends used to swim when they were little. It was also where Derrick and him had had their first fight.

Derrick stood up immediately when he saw Lucas.

"I was beginning to think you had chickened out," Derrick said, sneering. Lucas said nothing. He knew that Derrick was trying to get him riled up but he wasn't going to take the bait . He was obviously early and there was no reason for Derrick to think he was going to chicken out except to get under his skin.

"I want us to make a deal" Lucas said

"Wow," Derrick laughed. "He's even making demands. You must think this is a kind of friendly match" Derrick said

"If I win, you have to promise to stay away from the girl," Lucas said.
