Chapter Ten

I got up on the bed when I heard the baby crying; I didn't know who he was at first, so I just picked him up and tried to make him stop crying. Later, I realized it was Loki who was crying.

"Why is the baby crying?" I asked, swaying my body slowly.

When Eugene returned to my room, he looked at us with worry. He started to walk closer to us to check on Loki, but Thor's loud cry startled him, and he dashed to the other crib.

"Hey... what happened, hm? Daddy is here," he said sweetly as he carefully lifted Thor.

"We'll need to clean their bodies later so they can sleep comfortably," I said, noticing the twins' loaded diapers.

He approached me while holding Thor in his arms. We're now facing each other, holding the twins. I smiled when I noticed he couldn't take his eyes off Loki. He can't decide who is going to look first.

"I think they're starving," Eugene stated. While still holding Loki in my arms, I nodded and walked over to the milk formula and bottle on the other side of the bed.

However, because I can only use one hand, we must both assist one another. We might still be confused and lacking in knowledge if we hadn't decided to learn how to take care of a baby.

We even hired a personal instructor to help us deal with a situation like this.

"Done!" he exclaimed happily after the two baby milks. We sat on the bed and placed the two squirrels on the bed with a baby pillow.

"Oh, he's too hungry haha," I laughed as I watched Thor eagerly sucking the milk from the bottle. I looked over at Loki, who was doing the same.

"I feel bad, I think we starve them," he chuckled, happily watching the two.

"I hope this is enough for them; we don't have breast milk here," I worried, remembering that babies should drink milk from their mothers.

"It'll be fine, don't worry too much," he said, but I know he's worried as well.

We let them rest for a few minutes after they finish the milk before preparing the bath.

"It's fine, the water temperature is now good," I said as I dipped my hand in the water.

"How?" Eugene asked.

"How, what?"

"How can we bathe them at the same time? I don't think I can do it alone, what if I let them go? the soap is slippery," he worriedly asked.

"Let's put one of them in the crib first," I said, lifting Loki to be laid in the crib, but when I landed, he immediately began crying, so I lifted him as well.

"Shh, okay..."

"Thor, let's go," Eugene said as he attempted to place Thor in the crib, but it cried as well.

We were both shaken as we looked at each other. We tried putting them in the crib a few more times, but the twins were being particularly mischievous, so we did nothing but wipe them down and thoroughly clean them with wipes and warm water on a towel. They fell asleep immediately after we cleaned them.

"It's finally done," Uge said as he slid onto the bed.

"It's a little exhausting, but it's also a lot of fun," I said as I lay beside him.

I turned to look at his face; I saw him nod and yawn, which made me smile, but it was quickly replaced by a shocked reaction due to his sudden look at me.

When our eyes met, I was at a loss for words... Now that I'm looking into his eyes, I can feel a loud and painful throb in my chest. When he gets so close to me, I gasp.

"Hey, w-what are you doing?" I lightly push his chest, but my hand stops pushing him as soon as I feel the hardness of this man's chest.

It's as solid as a rock and kinda... squezy. I was terrified when I realized he was already sleeping.

I quickly sat down and covered my face out of shame. Eugene is sleeping, but I thought he was flirting with me! I even caress his chest!

"Gosh, Laura, the hell is already burning for you..." I said to myself before throwing myself back on the bed and covering myself with a blanket.

I was deep asleep when I heard a loud cry. I got up lazily, trying to figure out what the noise was.

"What's that noise?" I ask, terrified, wondering whose cry it is.

"Why?"

Eugene got up in the bed beside me, which surprised me. Oh, we share the same bed... and,

When I realize the noise is coming from the twins, I immediately jump out of bed. What the hell, I'm still not used to hearing cries in the middle of the night.

Eugene also stood up and went straight to Thor, who was now crying.

I began to prepare milk for them. I should not fall asleep. What if I didn't wake up quickly? They'd be hungry all night.

We fed them right away after we finished making the milk.

Eugene and I were sitting next to each other, holding the twins in our arms and feeding them. I yawned as I looked at the clock, four o'clock in the morning...

"Sleep baby," Eugene hummed tiredly trying to put Thor to sleep.

Later on, the twins finally sleeping so soundly. We carefully place them in their crib.

When sunlight enters the room through the glass window, I close my eyes.

"It's already morning," I pointed out.

I approached the glass window and pulled back the curtain, revealing the city view to us.

"Let's take a nap for a while, Laura," he suggested, but I ended up staring at the ceiling, unable to sleep.

I look at the clock, then at the twins.

"It's already six o'clock in the morning, he must be in the office by eight," I murmured, looking at Eugene, who was finally asleep.

I got into bed slowly so he wouldn't wake up. I fix their blankets before leaving the bedroom.

I begin by making fried rice, bacon and egg, and stewed cornbeef. Eugene is a big eater, so he usually eats a lot in the morning. I sipped coffee before returning to the room to wake him up.

"Eugene, wake up..." I gently wake him up so that the twins do not wake up. I don't want to disturb them while they are still sleeping.

"Laura..." he called out lazily, and I helped him in getting up. "What time is it?" he asks.

"Six forty, don't worry, you still have a lot of time, go to the dining room first and have breakfast. I'll just prepare your clothes," I said quietly.

"Hm, thank you," he says as he walks out of the room, still drowsy.

I suddenly smiled as I was deciding what Eugene should wear. It seems that I was his real wife, preparing breakfast for him and choosing his outfits... I sigh.

"Stop thinking nonsense," I said to myself, slapping my lips.

I leave Eugene's room after I prepare his clothes. I went into my room before going to the kitchen to check for the twins. I smiled when I saw the twins were still asleep.

"You have a meeting today and warehouses to visit, as well as an investor meeting at 3 p.m. and a dinner meeting for the new product that you discussed with Mr. Sandler Mindragon last time."

While looking at my small notebook, I continued reminding him of his schedule for today.

I noticed that my boss had no reaction to what I was saying so I closed it and sipped my coffee before starting to eat. Besides, he didn't have to memorize his schedule because that was the secretary's responsibility.

"W-wait—"

When I remembered I was his secretary, my eyes widened in shock.

"Hey!" I yelled, pointing at him with my fork.

"W-what?" he gasped, wiping his mouth from the coffee spill caused by my sudden outburst.

"What are you going to do now? I can't come with you; I'm your secretary, but I have to take care of the twins! How are you going to survive without me?" I panic.
