Chapter 4

My Forever Man

King Delmor of Strophan

My army were making their border patrol this morning when several caught a new scent. When I was informed, I had them get close without getting noticed. I got mind link reports of a young brown-haired women in strange clothing. But they reported her just sitting in a grassy area playing with flowers. They said occasionally, she would talk to herself, but it didn’t make any since to my wolves. I told them to keep this stranger under surveillance and I was on my way to see her for myself. No one ever crossed my borders without permission. All the other kingdoms knew I killed strangers on the spot, especially any travelers with no identification.

When I got met up with one of my wolves, they took me to this stranger. As I got closer, I did see a strange woman with long brown hair. She had on a peculiar blouse. It seemed to glow when the sun hit it sending red sparkles everywhere. I had never seen such material. The flowers she played with were made into a crown which she had on her head. She was beautiful and intriguing. She must have been a witch, or maybe a fairy. We knew she wasn’t a wolf; I could tell from her scent. But she smelled sweet and enticing; like vanilla and honey. But she also had the lingering smell of alcohol on her. Perhaps she got drunk and passed out on my land.

We quietly watched her all day. She never left the grassy area in which she played with the flowers. She did talk to herself. She had no idea she was being watched. Even as night fell, she didn’t try to leave. She just put on a coat and leaned on a tree to sleep. If she was a witch maybe, we could provoke her into reveling herself. I ordered my wolves to slowly circle her and make sounds to scare her. If she was a witch, she could cast a spell to light up the area or even place a protective field around herself. If she was a fairy, she could just take flight and leave. When she woke up at our howls she didn’t run or cast any spells. She just froze. I had to find out who this peculiar woman was. We tormented her until dawn. I decided to reveal ourselves to her and see what would happen.

When she spotted me, she still didn’t move? I didn’t even smell fear on her. Maybe she could mask her scent. But if that’s the case, why didn’t she mask her sweetness. Even after she saw the other two wolves to her sides she still didn’t startle. After a long while she spoke.

“Are you Saint Peter? Coming to collect my soul?” She asked. I was puzzled who is Saint Peter? I didn’t know that title. Why would I specifically want her soul?

“What do you want.” She asked me. Did she know who I was? Why were her questions directed to me only?

“Look if you’re going to eat me, just do it already.” This time she yelled at me. I rolled my eyes at her insinuation. I’m not going to eat her, maybe kill her after I find out who she was but not eat her. I decided If I was going to talk with her, I needed to shift back to my human form and not my large black wolf. Of course, we keep clothes hidden in my forest. I quickly found a tree with a stash and changed to a man and put on a pair of sweatpants. I walked out from behind the trees and towards her. She had the audacity to gawk at me and blush.

“You’re a werewolf. I must have died, and now I’m in hell.”  She spoke. Well at least she knew what I was.

“I can assure you that you are very much alive, and this is not hell. But why are you on my land?” I asked her. My wolves moved closer to her side to intimidate her.

“No, I died. I must have died in that car accident last night, and now I’m in hell or purgatory or somewhere else now. And there is no way that you can be real. Werewolves only exist in fiction books.” She said to us. I took several steps closer to her.

“Who are you? And where did you come from?” I asked her with authority. She quickly said, “My name is Emma. I’m from Ohio.”. I raised my eyebrow and looked at each one of my wolves. What is a car I thought and where is Ohio? She must not be from our lands.

“Look I don’t understand what’s going on but last night I was in a car accident a bad one. I must have died. How else would you explain me being here? I don’t even know where here is.” She said in frustration.

So, I told her where she was, “You are in Strophan. That’s the name of my territory. I have never heard of Ohio, and I don’t know what a car is.” I clearly stated to her. I could see the look of confusion in her eyes. I asked her, “You are not a werewolf. What are you, some type of fairy, or witch?” Then she started to laugh at me. This puzzled me, why does she think this is so funny, I could kill her in a second if I wasn’t so intrigued by her.

“You’re kidding, right?” She asked me. I shook my head. She stopped laughing, and she started to cry. Like dirty sobbing crying. I was feeling sorry for her now. Just a little bit.

“I’m not dead and I’m not in hell, but I’m in a world I’ve never heard of, and you think I’m a witch or a fairy? But I’m just a human.” She mumbled out while crying. Human, we don’t have any humans here. I can change into a human but I’m not pure human. They don’t exist anymore.

“There are no Humans here anymore.” I told her. I decided to tell her who I was. “My name is Delmor, King Delmor and this is my land, and you are now my prisoner.” I’m going to take her as a prisoner, I won’t put her in the Dungeon, but I needed to keep her close. I had to figure out what she is and where she came from.

“Prisoner? Are you going to kill me? I don’t want to die!” She sobbed hysterically.

“No, I have decided that you intrigue me, so I am going to keep you until I figured out what you are and where you came from.” I told her. “You are lucky that I find you so interesting, you would never have lived this long otherwise.”

“Get up and follow me back to my castle.” I told her and turned to walk away. After a few steps I turned to see her still sitting in the same place. “Now.” I yelled at her. She quickly got up and started to walk behind me. That made me half smirk at her. She didn’t appear scared, but she seems to know not to provoke me. My wolves knew to stay behind her and follow us. The rest of my wolves also followed us. Several tried to link to me and ask me questions. They were just intrigued about her as I was. But I quickly sent them all a link that she was mine. But I had to know more about her first.

We walked for about a mile in silence but just like any women I know they can’t ever stay quiet for long.

“Don’t your feet hurt you, you’re not wearing any shoes, I have boots on, and my feet are killing me. How much further? Can we take a break?” Goddess, she was whining!

“We don’t wear shoes; our feet are tough and its easier for shifting if we don’t have any on. I Have never seen boots like what you have on. Do you use them to make yourself taller?” I stopped and asked her, she had a puzzled look on her face.

“If you must know these boots cost me over a $100 and were of the latest fashion at the time.” She replied, putting her hands on her hips. Like that meant something.

“What are dollars?” I asked her.

“Its money.” She replied. “You know, a national currency?”

“We don’t have dollars we have gold and silver.” I informed her. Her eyebrows wrinkled in thought. I don’t think she’s from our world I thought to myself. We kept walking when my beta strolled up alongside of me.

“What do you make of her Roland?” I asked him.

“Sir if I’m honest she is either from another world or she is the best witch and liar I have ever seen, she makes up words and even different clothes to fool us.” Roland replied.

“Thank you, Roland your honesty is refreshing. For some reason I want to keep her, she intrigues me.” I told him.

“Sir, maybe she is your mate.” Roland suggested almost as if with a hopeful tone.

That’s ridiculous, it’s been over a one hundred years and I have never found my fated mate. Ever since I came of age, I have never found her. I gave up hope after the first twenty years. I don’t need a mate, I have consorts. Although I can’t have any children with them. I need a true mate for that.

“Look I know you guys are mind linking each other, can we just take a rest I’m tired. I drank way too much the night before and I haven’t had anything to eat or drink since.” Emma just blurted out and caused me and Roland to stop in our tracks and turn to look at her. She did look a little out of it.

“If you claim to not be from our lands then how do you know we were mind linking each other?” I asked her.

“Because I read a lot of books and 90% of them the werewolves can mind link. That’s how I know.” She blatantly said.

“In your world they write books about us?” I asked her.

“Yep, they are all fantasy, my favorite are the romance novels.” She said and blushed a deep red. I raised my eyebrows at her confession. How does a world have books about us, but they consider us a fantasy?

“Why did you drink so much? And what is a car and how did you get into an accident.” I asked her. I pointed to a large rock suggesting that she sit. I might as well let her talk and take a break. She looked frail.

“It was my birthday, so my two best friends took me out to celebrate. A car is a way to move about, transportation. It was snowing heavily, and the roads were slick. Our driver crashed into a truck.” She answered me.

“What is a truck?”

“Its like a car but like 100 times larger than a car.” She spoke. Exaggerating with her hands again.

“How old are you?” I questioned.

“Actually, I just turned twenty-two, my two-friend suggested to me that it was a magical birthday. I’m starting to wonder if they were right.” She started pondering. She was so young, only twenty-two. Why did she say her birthday was magical?

“Do you have horses here? And wagons?” She asked me. I nodded.

“Well, a car is like a wagon that takes you places but you don’t need the horses to move it. And a truck would be like the length of ten or fifteen wagons and very heavy, they are made out of plastic and metals.” She explained. I nodded trying to understand.

“So, they run off of magic.”  I spoke. And she laughed at me. I raised my eyebrow and gave her an irritated look.

“No, magic is not real it’s an illusion.” She said.

“Oh, but magic is very real in my world.” I said and she stopped laughing.

“Breaks over get up, you are still my prisoner.” I shot out in a stern voice and started to walk towards home again. This was taking too long; she was too slow.

Emma POV

This so-called king didn’t scare me. I’ve read too many books to know that he wanted to know more about me. I’m sure if I kept my answers and questions interesting, he wouldn’t kill me. He hasn’t even tried to hurt me yet. If he wanted to harm me, I’m sure he could have beaten me into submission already. Beside he was the best eye candy I have seen in a long time. The longer he walks in front of me the longer I get to watch his muscle ripple and flex as he walks. His tight ass looks so damn good in those sweatpants. When he turns to talk to me, they hang so low on his waist that I must stop myself from gawking at his V line.

If they thought I was a fairy, or a witch did that mean they existed in this world. Maybe I could meet some. I wonder what other fantastic creatures also lived here. If I ever make it back home, I could write this all down and have a best-selling book. But If I died in my world, could I go back? What happened to me during that crash? Did I die? Did I just disappear and magically make it to this world? That one fortune cookie did say I was going to go on a magical journey, is this what it meant? What if what I wished for comes true? Does my forever man live here in this world? Is he a creature?
