CHAPTER 2~

~ HYACINTH CLAUSEN ~

I gazed at that stranger who decided to make me his girlfriend without my consent. Bet, these men could never be different from one another. Their breed was born to swing their jewellery in front of any woman they find attractive. I scoffed when I took in his handsomeness. I must admit he was as tall as the Eiffel tower. I’m not a short woman but in front of him, I could never get an opportunity to say this.

He was not from around here. He didn't looked like someone from here, he must be from the Asian mainland. He was tall with an athlete's body, and everything about him was just sharp. His monolid eyes were the darkest set of brown that some would believe that they were black, however, I was not a mere human being, the blood in my veins was of werewolves, so I could see his eyes were dark brown and were sharp. His nose was high and straight and sharp. It was adding another charm to his inevitable personality, that was screaming, I’m the boss here.

Then my eyes travelled down to his jawline and as I said earlier, it was sharp. As the red-coloured lighting of the club hit on his face it made him the most fatal man walking alive on the earth.

His eyes were still on the man who was making me jump out of my skin and I noted how that man must be shrieking inside in front of that more than six feet tall giant. “You better leave.” His voice was dangerously thick but sweet deep like honey that would melt any girl’s heart. Not mine though. I was born differently. I was immune to the charms of any man who wanted to get in my pants.

That man and his group of drunk friends didn’t leave right away, so that stranger dropped his voice when he opened his mouth again to rehearse his words, and I swear on the list of my favourite songs, I felt the temperature around me abruptly dropped ten degrees. My smirk disappeared as I noticed the anticipation. I peeped around and saw that some humans had noticed the stranger’s presence. He could never go unnoticed, credit to his height and destructive aura. They too had felt the chill.

“Fuck, it was the last thing I want…” I uttered profanity under my breath, all I wanted was to get myself a drink and to get out of this shithole without making any spectacles. Guess, it was not going to happen now.

I slammed my hand on the countertop and the loud noise attracted unnecessary attention. I could feel every eye on me, it only slithered my anger. I got up and walked toward that man, my biker boots hitting the floor as I walked. I stood in between that stranger and that fucking dork. “You better leave while I’m being nice.” I jerked the collar of his denim jacket and pretended that there was some dust as I caressed his shoulder. He attempted to grab my hand but halted when my eyes turned to Fire-y red. He stumbled backwards and without any utterance, he flew out of there.

I sneered and turned to go sit on my bar stool. The stranger’s eyes never left me. I could sense it running all over my body. But I preferred to ignore it, I was done for the day., anyway. That Asian guy sat beside me. His long-limbed frame slithered next to me. I looked at him from the corner of my eyes as he straightened his suit.”I find it impressive and insulting. Impressive for the way you stood up in front of that bastard and insulting for you thought I could not deal with that tad short of a dick.” I rolled my eyes. I glanced at him and fuck, the man was hot - smooth-skinned with beautiful full lips.

“You should be grateful I saved your ass.” The man next to me scowled but turned to the bartender to get himself a cocktail and a scotch. His order was soon served as I was playing with my phone and scanning the crowd to see if I could find Rachel but I couldn’t.

The guy slipped the cocktail in front of me. “No, thanks.” I politely denied his offer. He didn’t pay any attention so I didn’t touch the cocktail and said, “You know, a drink could do magic on days like today…” he appreciated the translucent gold colour as he swirled it.

I looked at him briefly before I picked up the cocktail, “Yeah, a drink can do.” I swallowed it down greedily in one shot and it burned my throat. “But that doesn’t mean I would let you get in my pants,” I said with a smug smile. It was not hard for me to read men’s minds. They all want the same thing.

“I’m not expecting anything whatsoever, you know. Not trying to get you to raise my kids.” He said with a wide smile. And I caught sight of his fangs but he was not a vampire, his fangs were of the size of the werewolves.

A werewolf?

“Guess, you’ve mastered hiding your scent,” I said, half a smile on my face, and neither of us looked away as our gazes met.

“And you still managed to notice. Miss…?” He lifted his thick arched brow and I extended my hand with my name, but a fake one, “Hana…” His smirk only got more prominent at my name, “King…” he shook my hand lightly and I noticed his hand was large, warm, with impossibly long fingers and of course the veins.

“King is your real name?” I raised a question.

“Hana is not your real name, is it?” he asked back. As he picked up a tissue paper and started folding it. My eyes curiously stuck on his hands moment as he made a paper plane with it. He was sharp, he noticed that I faked the name.

He didn’t say anything much after that when I stayed silent. However, his eyes…his eyes were telling me something.

Some people expressed their feelings and emotions through their talk. Some people don’t pour sweetness into their words but their touch and their actions demonstrate what they were feeling. Then, there was this man, sitting beside me, who revealed his emotions only by his eyes. And his eyes were telling me that he wanted me at that moment. I was going insane to witness how his eyes were changing emotions and everything was clear when he inhaled the hand that he shook with me and an ocean of lust coated his brown eyes.

“Hana…” He nearly growled when he pronounced my name, and oh how much it felt so real to hear my fake name by this man whose name was not King.

“Yeah…” I responded as if I was called by my real name, it felt so habitual when he called me by my fake name.

“I’ve decided to take you tonight as my dinner. Would you care to join me?” Oh, so gentleman was he. He meant that he WANTS ME, yet he played that gentleman part so effortlessly.

I didn’t respond. I didn’t know how to respond. My mind was still filtering what he said. I never thought I could fall for a man’s charms whom I met just now, accidentally, because he decided to be my saviour when I didn’t need it the most.

His eyes looked straight into my soul and my soul danced at the heat of his eyes. I never felt that way. But again, I never found a werewolf like him. He felt like he was out of the league. And I didn’t know if I ever remember when was the last time I felt self-conscious. He was the Greek god.

“If you can’t say it in words. I could give you another way to choose.” He broke the trail of my wild thoughts.

“And what’s that…?” I asked. It was a small whisper. I could never know if he heard that because of the loud music. But he did. He leaned toward me and placed that paper plane on the countertop, beside my phone. “ As…I don’t like to force people most of the time because it affects my reputation…especially… a girl like you..” A girl like me? What does he mean by that?

“- I would like you to choose between a night where I will make you forget everything until you will scream nothing but my name or you stay here, among these humans, and get frustrated to the degree where you can’t suppress your inner wolf and make yourself turn in front of them into the monster they like to kill without any hesitation.”

His offer was irresistible, I currently didn’t want to sit here and get more angered, along with the fact of my mom’s marriage.

I glanced at him then at the paper plane, he tapped his finger on it before sliding it more toward me and I picked it up, without a second thought. I needed the type of distraction he was about to give me.
