chapter seven : stranded

Chapter 7

The car suddenly came to an abrupt halt.

" did you hear that Ivy?" Mark asked as he tried to put the car into drive but rather it revised.

" Something happened in the engine," he said as he stopped the car from going backwards.

" let me go and check," he said as he got out of the car.

I sighed as I swayed my gaze to my surroundings.

" it's going to be a long day," I remarked to myself. I stared at the angry sky, I cursed myself that had gone out without checking the weather first. I always check the weather.

I got out of the car and headed toward him. his muscles flexing as he touched from part of the engine to the other.

" Find anything?" I asked as stared at what he was doing and those canal images flashed in my mind. I gawked at his hands wondering how they would feel on my skin, wondering how it would feel to trace those thick gains that were protruding on his arms.

" I need to go back inside if you don't mind" I mumbled lowly. he only nodded at me. Going back inside was the safest idea I have probably came out with since this entire god forsaken trip.

I sighed in relief as I darted into the car.

things were changing fast and I didn't like the way I felt when I was around him. he is my uncle, my blood, my relation and for a second I wondered if there weren't any relations that bind us, would l have let in on my feelings. People have disregarded relations in the past, I would not be the one to start it. I sighed to myself.

" well that settles it then," he said as he banged the car door. I flinched at the unexpected noise.

" When did you get in?" I asked.

I watched as he mumbled something under his breath. his hands were smeared with lubricants, and some were on his face.

"To heck with the weather and car. it's going to rain soon and the damned car just had to break down now." he hissed under his breath.

" What happened to the car?" I asked as I drank in his features. his sharp jawline, his thinned lips, his crocked nose and those eyes, ohh those eyes. They are dreamy.

" I don't know, I called the mechanic and he is half an hour away," he said as he adjusted his seat.

" Ohh," was the only response I could gather.

" We are stuck here for a while," he said as he closed his eyes. he was comfortable with this, with whatever that was going on unless he was affected like I do. Or he was immune to feelings.

" sure," I said.

I stared at him, at his rhythmic breathing,

" curses on him, how can he sleep at this hour." I stared at him

" stk" I clicked my tongue as I poked his Limb.

" woman let me sleep," he said as he turned around to face the other direction.

" the mechanic is here", I remarked.

" Finally," he said

I nodded as well.

I watched as they interacted, I watched him sigh in pure frustration.

". get out of the car, they are going to pull the car to their garage. the drive shaft is broken, we will have to spend the night at an inn or something" he said,

I nodded I trailed him like a puppy.

" So how are we going to get there?" I said. the sky suddenly rumbled and a flash of lightning smeared the sky, illuminating dark clouds that hang low.

" For the love of God," he cursed.

" Mark?" I called out to him.

" hmm" he stopped to look at me

" How are we going to find an inn, it's Easter and most. places would be full." he nodded

" I get that, so let's hurry" he was getting my idea, we would probably sleep outside or be like baby Jesus and spend the night in the manger. I laughed at myself, I had I lost my sense of humour along with my body heat. I groaned at his arrogance. Wealthy people have a way of disregarding poor’s ideas like he was doing mine even though I had not voiced it out yet.

we stepped into the inn, the warmth of it enclosing us. it had been exactly two hours we had been walking to get here and two more hours to get to the nearest inn. if we don't find shelter here I was going to pass out from hunger and cold.

" Evening sir |Miss" the Receptionist called out.

" evening, we would like two rooms please," Mark said, his height towering over the receptionist.

" let me check if we still have any rooms left," she said as she looked at her desktop.

" mmm we don't have two rooms, we have only one," she said.

" we will take it" I announced. I need a bath, a hot bath. I did not care for the outcome of my decision

" and food if possible" she nodded and handed the keys to Mark.
