Chapter Two

Lillie was determined to find a lover for Jennifer. She had provided her with Steve, a wealthy man with prestige in the community. Jennifer was not interested in him. She had already turned him down for a date. She still had her eyes on Paul. Lillie knew she had to find someone that would appeal to Jennifer. A man with money did not work. Lillie had to find someone that would catch the eye of Jennifer. But what would she do with the spell on Steve? She walked into the coffee shop and Steve was having a cup of coffee sitting alone at the bar. Lillie noticed an older lady, Mary, looking at the newspaper in the coffee shop, also sitting alone. She suddenly had the idea of finding a woman for Steve.

Lillie sat with Mary and talked for a while. Mary was in her late sixty’s and had been widowed for many years. When Mary left the coffee shop, Lillie took the cup she had been drinking out of and rubbed her finger around the rim of the cup while chanting. She had placed a love spell on Mary. As Mary was walking on the sidewalk, she noticed Steve and began talking to him. The spell had begun to work. Mary was now in love with Steve. Steve still had the spell on him to love Jennifer. Lillie had to transform the spell of Steve to Mary instead of Jennifer. She also had to find a new lover for Jennifer so she could have Paul to herself.

When Mary looked into the eyes of Steve, it filled her body with passion that was burning deep inside. She had not felt that way in years. She became weak in the knees. His eyes were the masterpiece she could not stop staring at. The smell of his cologne was intoxicating. Every time she thought of Steve, it filled her with butterflies. Steve walked away, but he never left her mind. Suddenly, every love song she heard was about Steve. She went to sleep that night, yearning to be with him. She woke up the next morning with a desire to see him, talk to him, just be in his presence. She went to the Coffee Shop hoping she would see him again.

Lillie went to the Coffee Shop to see Steve. She had to transfer his spell from Jennifer to Mary. Steve was sitting in the shop, drinking a cup of coffee. She sits at the table behind him. Mary walks in and sits at the table with Steve. The two enjoy a cup of coffee together. Mary asks Steve to come over for dinner. Steve politely told her he had other plans, but another day. Mary wrote her telephone number on a napkin and gave it to him.

Mary left the Coffee Shop wishing to receive a call from Steve. Steve left the Coffee Shop and walked across the street to the Art Gallery to see Jennifer. Lillie moved over to the table they were sitting at. Mary and Steve were drinking from cups that she took. She then placed the cups on top of each other, rim to rim. She held the cups in her hand and chanted a spell. At that moment, it would join the two hearts as one.

As Steve was at the Art Galley standing in front of the painting of the young maiden. Jennifer walks over to attempt to sell the painting to him. He looked at her and said, “I may not get to see you as often as I like. I may not get to show you how I really feel. But deep in my heart I truly know you are the one I love, and do not want to let you go. Will you please join me for dinner tonight?” Jennifer once again turned him down for the date. She had made plans to see Paul. Suddenly, all the feeling that Steve had toward Jennifer were gone. He reached into his pocket and retrieved the napkin with Mary’s telephone number. He telephoned Mary, but she did not answer the telephone.

Jennifer heard that Paul had been seeing Lillie when she was at the hospital with her sister. Jennifer became angry and filled with joyously. She saw Steve walk into the coffee shop. She knew he would come to the Art Gallery just like he did every day. Steve walked into the Gallery and stood gazing into the painting of the beautiful young maiden in the flowing red dress. Jennifer walked over to him and started talking. For the first time, Steve did not ask her for a date. Jennifer asked Steve to have lunch with her at the coffee shop. He hesitated for a moment and accepted her invitation. He had asked her so many times. He did not want to hurt her feeling. Jennifer only wanted to date Steve to make Paul jealous.

It was the coldest day of Winter and time for Lillie to slaughter her pigs on slaughter hill for the freezer. She would process the pigs into meats to be eaten during the year. The buttocks were salted to produce ham. She would eat the ham for breakfast and on special occasions. The ribcage was salted, smoked, and produced bacon. The bulk of the meat was cut and ground to produce sausages. Some of the skin and fat were fried to produce cracklings and lard. She would use the head of the pig to make souse. The pig was used to eat. She saved the pig blood to use in spells. She would put it in the freezer and use it as she needed.

Mary walked into the coffee shop and saw Steve and Jennifer having lunch together. Mary was hurt and ran out of the shop crying. She felt like someone had pushed a dagger through her heart and set it on fire. Became emotional and the tears just kept falling out of her eyes like someone broke a handle on a water faucet. It was so painful that she felt like if she died, everything would just stop and the pain would go away. She felt like the pain would never go away. She had not felt that way since her husband passed.

Lillie was in the Art Gallery and saw Mary running out of the coffee shop. She walked next door to the coffee shop and saw Steve and Jennifer having lunch. They were laughing and happy. She had now created a complicated situation with the spells she had already cast. Now she had to find a way to straighten things out. She did not want Steve or Mary to get hurt. All she wanted was Paul for herself. It would have been much easier if she could get some of Jennifer’s personal belonging. Then she could put a spell on Jennifer. But Jennifer would not let Lillie close enough to her. She would never see or agree to sit and talk with her over a cup of coffee.

Mary went to visit Lillie. Everybody knew she could cast spells. Mary wanted Steve to love her. She wanted Jennifer out of the picture. Lillie invited Mary inside to sit at the dining room table and have a hot cup of coffee with her. Mary began telling Lillie how much she loves Steve. She fell in love with Steve the first time she saw him. Mary asks Lillie to cast a spell on Steve that would make him see her in a new light, to see her as a potential romantic partner. She wanted him to feel drawn to her and see her best qualities.

Lillie stated, drawing a butterfly on a piece of paper. She told Mary to hold the paper tightly in her hand and repeat the words. Element of air, water, and earth. I would like Steve to see me at the coffee shop because he wants to. Help me send this message to Steve. I will be waiting for him in the morning at the coffee shop. Lillie then asked Mary to write Steve’s name on the paper. While saying I want to see you. Mary then held the paper in her hand while asking the elements to send the message. She then folded the paper in three parts and placed it under her hands on the table. Steve will be at the coffee shop in the morning to see you. Mary went home excited about seeing Steve in the morning.

Lillie went into her studio and started painting a picture of a beautiful woman sitting in a swing in the garden. She was wearing a red sun hat that Lillie painted with pig blood. She was wearing a beautiful white sun dress with flowers on it. She was wearing white sandals and reading a book. The garden was a field with flowers. She painted the roses with a rose perfume. The perfume filled the room with the aroma of roses. She finished the painting and took it to the Art Gallery.

When she arrived at the Art Gallery, Jennifer meet her at the door. Jennifer just stood there, standing at the painting. When she looked at the painting, she saw herself covered in blood. Jennifer panicked and ran out of the room. The owner of the Gallery looked at the painting and loved it. She put it on display in the middle of the Gallery. The owner asked Lillie to participate in a special show featuring her painting. Lillie did not know how to respond. She did not want anyone to know she was the painter. Every painting had a spell on it. No two people see the painting the same.

Jennifer went to the Coffee Shop and meet Paul. She explained to Paul that Lillie had a painting of her covered in blood. She was afraid that Lillie had put a spell on her to kill her. Paul assured Jennifer that was not the case. Lillie would never kill anybody. She only tries to scare people. The spell will not work if you do not believe in them. She only uses it to get her way.

As Jennifer was sitting at the table having dinner with Paul, she dropped the knife and it cut her leg. Blood started dripping now from her leg onto the shoe she was wearing. As she looked down at the shoe, it was ruby red with blood. She remembered the painting of the young maiden with the flowing red dress and the ruby shoes. She was certain that Lillie had put a spell on her to kill her and this was only the beginning. She was now determined to find someone that could reverse the spell.

Jennifer went to a small little house in the country to see the Voodoo Doctor Ellen. Ellen was known as being the best in the county. Jennifer explained to Ellen that Lillie, the witch, had used black magic put a spell on her. She thought it was to kill her. Ellen agreed to help Jennifer and explained to her while protection spells and rituals are the best way to prevent hexes, jinxes, and other malevolent magic from sticking to you in the first place, reversals are the best way to shake it off. A reversal would have to be performed.

Reversing magic spell takes the spell off you and sends it back to the person who put it on you in the first place. Ellen believes that it is safer to reverse a spell than attempting to get revenge on someone. Ellen placed a red and black candle on the table. She cut seven divots on the top of the candles with a knife. She then placed a reversible oil on each candle. Jennifer took a nail and wrote, Lillie, I return the spell back to you on the candle. The candle slowly flickered, and the wax began to burn. Jennifer felt relieved because the spell was reversed. Ellen gave Jennifer a candle and instructed her to light it every night in front of a mirror and let it burn for five minutes the first day. Decrease the time for the next four days. If the candle does not flicker, start over.

Jennifer left Ellen’s feeling safe. She went home and was sitting in the study reading a book. The wind started blowing hard. The rain was pounding on the tin roof and the thunder was shaking the windowpanes. She heard a glass scatter on the floor. When she turned around, a picture of herself had fallen off the mantle and broken. She reached down to pick up the glass from the floor and her finger started bleeding. As she walked across the floor to put the glass in the trash, the floor began to shake. She immediately went to the bedroom and light the candle and stood looking into the mirror. The candle blew out. She was consumed with fear. The reverse spell did not work.

Lillie was at home sitting on her front porch watching the sky become dark as the clouds rolled in. The branches of the trees swayed with the blowing of the wind. The lightning cast white flashes of light in the dark sky. The lightning lit up the sky as nature provided a light show to be seen for miles away. The loud sound to the thunder shook the windowpanes of the house. The rain was falling heavily on the metal roof. Hail began to fall from the sky with a great force. The hail bounced off the ground onto the porch where she was sitting. Suddenly, a bolt of lightning struck the tree beside the porch. Lillie heard the tree cracking and falling to the ground. She ran inside and fear filled her body. She knew the night had turned dark and evil was displayed in the air. Someone had tampered with the spell. She was now forced to show her strength and power.

Lillie went into the bedroom and sit on her bed looking into in small glass ball that transformed into a mirror of all the spells she had cast. She saw Jennifer with Ellen. Anger filled her body as her eyes began to twitch. She began grinding her teeth and her hands began to shake. Now Jennifer and Ellen would both have to pay. Nobody interferes with her spells. Lillie never put a spell on Jennifer. Now Jennifer had Ellen to put a spell on her. The spell she cast was only to make Steve fall in love with her in hopes that she would leave Paul alone.

Lillie walked out into the thunderstorm with lightning flashing, thunder rolling, window blowing, and the ground shaking. She picked up a stick and drew a heart on the ground with an arrow across the middle. On one side of heart, she wrote Jennifer and on the other side of the heart she wrote Paul. The arrow was a sword that separated the heart into two pieces. Jennifer would pay for being a home wrecker.

She went inside and gathered a group of candles, oil, perfume, powder, incense, crystals, roots, herbs, dried flowers and took them into the kitchen. The candles were placed on the kitchen table. She took a large cast iron Dutch Oven and placed in on the large eye of the stove. She filled the oven with roots, herbs, dried flowers, and oil. She threw a light match into the oven to burn the items. The items became ashes in the bottom of the oven. She sprinkled the perfume over the ashes, and they began to sizzle. A smoke filled the oven. She took the powder and poured it into the oven. The smoke disappeared into the air.

The candles and incenses were lit on the table to create a flicker in the breeze blowing through the kitchen. She placed the crystals in the oven. Red for blood, fire, violence, health and danger. Orange for change and yellow for mourning. Black for evil and dark. She began stirring the crystals in the oven with a wooden spoon as she chanted a spell. The oven became so hot the spoon began to catch fire. She reached over to the sink and filled a glass with water. She propelled the glass of water onto the fire. The steam spelled out Slaughter Hill. The spell was completed.
