Chapter 2: Katrina

MY STOMACH LURCHED when I opened my eyes, and my vision was still spinning. I drank way too much last night, and I couldn’t remember anything from the moment that disgusting Perv had started grinding on me. Had I blacked out afterward? I felt towards the edge of my bed, looking for my nightstand with my phone; instead, my hand met flesh, very muscular flesh, meaning I hadn’t crashed with Jack or Grace. I cringed inwardly. Had I gone home with the Perv? Surely Grace and Jack would have stopped me unless I was so far gone; they thought I was enjoying his attention. I removed my hand from the muscular flesh when I felt his hand grip mine.

“Ah kitten, you’re awake,” Purred the Handsome Stranger, Miles.

I felt my core heat at the sound of his groggy morning voice. If Miles had taken me home, no wonder Grace or Jack didn’t try to stop me; they would have considered that sacrilege.

I used my free hand to feel myself, trying to determine if I had any clothes on, I felt fabric covering me, but it didn’t feel like the material of my black dress. I managed to free my hand from Miles and push myself up from the bed. I cringed again. I was wearing an overly large T-shirt, a shirt big enough to fit Miles and large enough to cover me like a dress, a dress longer than the one I was wearing last night. I sighed with disappointment; if I had slept with Miles, I would have at least liked to have remembered it.

“We didn’t sleep together,” Miles responded, pulling himself into a sitting position and looking over at me. I glanced in his direction and noticed he was shirtless. My eyes glanced longer than necessary at his hardened chest, trailing down to his six-pack and wandering down the trail of hair that led into his gym shorts, forcing myself to look up before they trailed down lower. “We can fix that, though, if you want,” Miles responded, smiling at me cockily.

“If we didn’t have sex, why am I here?” I asked, gesturing around, “And why are you in bed with me?”

“Well, you passed out on my club floor, and your friends were nowhere in sight, so I felt like it was my responsibility to take care of you since I let you drink for free, and secondly, you’re in my bed, and I was not going to sleep on the couch or the floor.”

I blushed profusely. Of course, I was in his bed; he had every right to sleep in it too. “Well, thank you for rescuing me,” I responded sheepishly, looking down at the blanket I was wrapped in.

“Trust me; if you hadn’t been passed out, I would have ravished you,” Miles replied, causing me to jerk up and look at him, seeing the hunger burning his eyes. “Your body looked amazing in that dress; it looks ten times better, completely naked.”

“Ughh, thanks,” I responded, looking down again, trying to hide my blush. Of course, he had seen me naked; I was wearing his shirt. “I didn’t do anything stupid, did I?” I asked, feeling nervous.

“Define stupid.” He laughed. “Only kidding,” He replied after seeing my distressed look, “Tell me what you remember about last night?”

“Uhh, not much,” I replied, trying to recall last night. “At least nothing that has a logical explanation.”

“Try me,” Miles responded.

“Well, my friends and I smoked a bowl of that X-Static Shisha, and we downed five shots of tequila each, then we headed to the dance floor. Shortly after that, so creepy ass dude came up behind me grinding his erection into me and started trying to get me to go home with him.” I paused at the pure hatred on Miles’s face, his eyes reflecting what looked like burning embers, but that couldn’t be possible. His eyes were an emerald amber hazel color. “Uhhh…” I stumbled, trying to recall where I had been in my recollection before his look distracted me. “I pushed the creep away from me, and when I did….” I let my voice trail off, not wanting to give life to my imagination.

“And when you did?” Miles asked, urging me to continue, an expression I couldn’t quite place on his face.

“I… It’s ridiculous. I thought I saw a white light blast through my hands, and the creep flew into the wall. And then I passed out and woke up here in your bed.” I ran my hands through my tangled hair, waiting for Miles to laugh at me or call me crazy.

“Can I take you somewhere?” He asked, taking me by surprise before standing up from his bed, walking towards his closet, and grabbing a shirt.

“Uhh… I really should go back to my place and check on Grace and Jack and put on some clothes of my own.” I responded, gesturing down to myself.

“You look fine,” Miles responded, looking me up and down, before turning towards his dresser and grabbing one of his belts. “Here,” He said, tossing it at me. “Now you can wrap this around your waist, and it’ll look like you’re wearing one of those fashionable T-shirt dresses.” He laughed.

I couldn’t help but feel relaxed when I was around him. I cinched the belt around my waist and looked myself over in front of the mirror in front of his closet; I laughed when I noticed the mirror was positioned perfectly so you could see the bed. I let my hair out of the knotted mess and combed my fingers through it before putting it into a messy bun. I looked okay. “Are we going somewhere public?” I asked.

“Actually, no. We’re just going down the hall to the meeting room.”

Down the hall, meeting room? None of what he said made sense, but I shrugged my shoulders and went along with it. What’s the worst that could happen? If I embarrassed myself, it didn’t matter. I hardly knew Miles, and it wasn’t like I would see him again after today.

“Okay, I’m game,” I said, following him out the door; that’s when I realized we were inside a dormitory. Was Miles a college student?

“What college are we at?” I asked as we headed down the hall.

“Ugh, it’s more like an academy,” Miles replied, stopping in front of the door.

“Umm, Okay,” I responded, not sure what type of academy took adults over 18.

Miles opened the door and gestured for me to enter.

I adjusted the belt around my waist before entering the room. Sitting at the head of a long table was an elderly gentleman. He had a long pointed nose with a mole at the end, while his face looked old and long beyond his age, his eyes looked youthful with their piercing blue color, and his hair was a silky natural black, a color that couldn’t be obtained by dye.

“Damn. She’s fucking gorgeous.” Came a voice from the side of the room. I looked around the table and noticed three equally handsome men staring straight at me. The one talking had bright fire red hair that was shoulder length and wavy, his eyes were a piercing electric green, and he looked like he lifted weights at the gym daily.

“Did you have to fuck her?” Groaned out one of the other males; my gaze flickered over to him. He had short curly brown hair and beautiful cerulean blue eyes that reminded me of the sea. While I could tell he was fit and took pride in his appearance, his body had more of a lean physique, a build similar to that of a swimmer.

“So this is the one?” Asked the last man, his expression dark, hiding all his emotions. His beauty still enchanted me; his eyes were a unique deep purple coloring, his jet black hair was pulled back into a low ponytail, and I wanted to untie it and run my hands through it. His dark features stood out compared to his fair skin, and from what I could see, his was covered in tattoos. On his neck, he had an apple tattooed with a dagger going through it and wings spread out on each side of the apple; I wondered what it symbolized.

My mouth went dry when I noticed all three of them staring at me, and I could feel Miles’s warm presence behind me as he rested one of his hands on my lower hip, pulling my back flush against him.
