The guards followed Alessio’s command. Grabbing Liam by his arms, they dragged him out of the room after snatching the weapon out of his hand. He did not put up a fight nor say a word. It was like I had ripped his soul out of him.

They were out of the door, and as soon as the door shut behind them, a heavy breath left my lips as I fell forward, clutching my head with my hands, my whole body shaking. I knew I would feel bad for doing this to him, but I had not realised the extent of it until this very moment. I just betrayed my childhood best friend. My heart was in pain, my eyes trying to push back the tears that threatened to fall.

I had to clench my eyes shut tightly to keep the tears from falling. The look in his eyes was haunting me. He trusted me blindly. I had betrayed his trust. He must think I am the most worthless, worst person to ever come in his life. He must be cursing me. He must be cursing himself for ever putting his trust in me.
