Hell no

Cara

The first few drops made me jump fully alert. He was up already looking at me grudgingly. I couldn't help but look smug. I knew he was expecting the, 'I told you so'. Instead, I just kept the smug look fired at him full throttle. The last thing I'd want was to be seen as predictable. He looked away trying to hide his shame.

The rain tore ferociously hammering down at us. It got so heavy fast. I was having trouble standing as the ground got slippery. Twice I almost landed on my ass. Mud had formed where we stood. He looked like he was enjoying the rain and the bonus of my misery. My sandals had little hope of surviving the island but I watched as the mud and rain washed away every hope.

He looked at me screaming something. I tried to listen but the sound of the heavy drops slamming hard on the wet earth made it highly impossible. I gestured for him to repeat and he did. I didn't get anything at all. I threw my hands out in defeat. I could barely see him as my hair was now plastered to my face. The drops stung my eyes badly making visibility low.

I had no idea till he was right in front of me. He got so close I could smell his cologne mix with the scent of the wet jungle. He whispered in my ear saying, "We should probably keep each other warm, eh?"

"Fuck off." I shoved him hard with my elbow.

He shrugged and moved to where he had just come from. It was nice to know one of us could move freely regardless of the slippery jungle floor. As if reading my mind and trying to taunt me, he started dancing in the rain. Asshole!

I was so wet now that my full breasts were visible through the bikini top I wore. My hard nipples bulged to the touch of the cold and raindrops. He noticed it too, staring till I ended the show by folding my hands. He shrugged again, resuming his whacky rain dance. I secretly prayed his rain dance would help stop the rain and not do the opposite because of how terrible his dancing was.

Very slowly, my teeth began to clatter, vibrating my whole body. I stiffened my bones. I had to do everything to stop him from noticing the cold slowly hitting my core. The shiver racked my jaws as I accidentally slipped. A yawn. Lucky for me, he was too engrossed in his dance to notice.

As if by a magical spell, the rain ceased without warning.

"Wow. It works!" he yelled, pumping his fist in the air like a child.

"Wait. Don't tell me you think you are... Wait. Dude, for real?" I found it hard to believe he thought his stupid dance had stopped the rain.

He ignored me continuing his victory dance as if my existence there was as a specter. Finally, when he was done, he walked up to me with his stupid smile.

"I stayed with the Mojave tribe for 7 months. Of course, that was a legit rain dance. I've just never done it in reverse before to stop the rain." He sounded like he meant every word.

I burst into a cynical laugh. He couldn't be serious. This over pampered rich snub stayed with a native American tribe. Nahhhhhhh. Hell no.

He watched my reaction looking hurt. There's no way I was ever going to believe that.
