07 * Wait a Few Days Little Witch

Damian’s Pov

“Hey what’s wrong?” I ask holding her face in my palms. Instead of answering, she shifts her gaze away from me as she struggled to get her face away from my grip.

“Are you okay? Is there anything you want?” I ask looking intently at her but she still doesn’t.

Running out of options, I got out the car and came to her. Opening the door, I turned her to face me yet she won’t look at me. “Did I do something wrong?” I ask and she shakes her head.

Not knowing what else to do, I pull her into my arms letting her cry as much as she needed.

“I’m sorry about your shirt”, she said pointing at her tears which had soaked my shirt.

“Sorry doesn’t always solve everything little witch” I say making her look at me with wide eyes.

“I didn’t mean to” she argued

“Yeah, but you did so you have to pay for it” I reply, closing her door.

Getting into the driver’s seat, I find her staring at me again. “I know am handsome little witch but it’s unfair to eye rape someone you know”

“Get over yourself” she replied

“I will after you pay me for my shirt”

“Excuse me?”

“It’s just dinner Devika, plus you won’t be afford the shirt”

“I guess so” she replied gloomily and I mentally slapped myself for saying something so stupid and absurd.

“So, what has been keeping you busy lately?” she asked as I parked in front of my favorite restaurant.

“Why do you care?” I ask as I extend my hand for her to take. As our skin touch, she looks down at our hands then back up at me and I smile. It’s good to know she’s feeling the bond but since I overstepped my boundaries, I’ll just have to keep my distance until she says otherwise.

“I don’t care, get over yourself already” she replied haughtily.

“Yes ma’am, I will” I reply sarcastically, making her pout. As we wait for our order, she had her index finger and thumb at her lower lip. It looked like she was biting, or pinching herself.

“Penny for your thoughts?” I say making her hands drop by her sides as she sat up on her seat.

“It’s nothing” she replied after a moment of hesitation.

“You suck at lying” I tease with a smile

“Tell me” I encourage with a smile but she says nothing in return.

She picked up the glass cup and took a sip of water. Looking at me, she held on tightly on the cup with both of her hands. Her breath was ragged and her heart was beating faster as she asked “Is it because of me?”

Her voice was so low that I might have missed it if I wasn’t a vampire, her eyes were fixed on me like I was a criminal of some sort and I just had trouble understanding what was going on in her head.

“I don’t understand” I reply

“Don’t act dumb Damian, did you leave your house because of me?” she asked as a drop of tear fell off her left eye.

I was about to answer when the waitress dropped our food, looking from her to me. The look she gave me was that of disgust and I know she must have misread the situation.

“Thank you” I reply, her clue to leave and thankfully, she did.

“Wipe your tears and eat” I say looking at her with the softest gaze I could come up with. I’m very terrible at being nice and now I’m paying the price for it.

“Answer me first” she said stubbornly

“Yes, I left because I didn’t want to make you uncomfortable” I reply, hoping it would give her a peace of mind but instead, she cried more gathering the attention of a few people.

“Why?” she asked in between sobs, “Why would you do that?” she asked again looking at me with her teary red eyes.

“It was my duty as your host to make sure you were comfortable” I replied as casually as I could.

“Really?” she asked furiously

“A host leaves his home for the guest and that makes you think it’s going to make the guest comfortable. How do you expect me to sleep, eat, ride your car and be comfy when you are saying am the reason you had to leave your house?”

“Do you think that low of me?” she asked looking at me and for the 1st time in my entire life, I was lost for words. I had no idea what to say or do in a situation like this but knowing I had to say something, I said the 1st thing that came to mind.

“No, I don’t but am fulfilling my promise to Mrs. Fell”

She nodded in response and began to eat but each bite she took was like knife stabbing into my dead heart. Throughout the ride home, we both said nothing and I had no idea what to think of feel.

As I parked the car, she opened the car door but I held her hand before she could leave. “I didn’t mean to make you sad or angry little witch, I just want you to have a comfortable and joyful stay” I say looking at her eyes hoping she would understand how sincere I am.

“I understand Mr. young but I can’t just enjoy my stay knowing that I drove you out of your house” she replied, and tried to ger down but I pulled her again.

“You didn’t, I did” I reply, hoping she would stop blaming herself.

“Then comeback” she says looking me in the eye.

“It’s your duty as the host to take care of your guest, right? So why are you running away from it now?” she asks looking at me with a hurt expression.

I just have this deep urge to hug her, kiss her and claim her as mine but I can’t do that yet. I moved way too fast in the beginning and I can’t risk doing that again and maybe, push her away for good. I’m meant to be happy to know that she misses me but all it does is make me more anxious. I don’t want to make another mistake, I can’t take the risk or else, I might lose her for good so I have to be very careful.

“Good night Devika” I say hoping she has a goodnight

“Good night, Mr. Young” she replies before hurrying into the house.

Just wait a few days little witch and I will back.
