MEGHAN
I was so stunned by his words that I couldn't speak the entire time.
I just stood there, frozen while he said those nasty words to me. I couldn't even shed a tear.
I watched him slam the door on his way out and then burst into tears. My body shook as I attempted to choke back my sobs, but I couldn't stop. I have never felt so humiliated, so small.
So I made one mistake a year ago? Don't I deserve a chance to explain myself? And what was that about him 'almost not making it?' What did he even mean by that? I was so confused.
I didn't know how I would go back to the party and have a good time after he made me feel like shit, so I decided to look for Luke. He promised to drive me home after all.
I went to the living room and looked around, my eyes frantically searching for Luke. Maybe I should call the rideshare company again.
"There you are, Maggie. I was looking for you."
I released a sigh of relief. Luke found me again. "Did you find Adrian?"
"Yes," I said meekly. I had wiped my tears already, but new ones streamed down my cheeks.
"Oh shit, Maggie! What's wrong?" Luke exclaimed. He quickly went back inside and then came back with a box of tissue in his hands. "What's going on? Did something happen with Adrian?"
"You said you could take me home, right?" I sniffled. I couldn't stand to be here for another minute.
"Are you trying to leave? I am not letting you until you tell me what the hell is going on. Do I need to kick Adrian's ass?" Luke tried to laugh but stopped as he saw the serious look on my face. "Seriously, Maggie. You can talk to me."
I exhaled slowly to calm myself down. "Adrian and I are just dealing with some personal issues. It's nothing."
"It's not nothing. You are crying your eyes out," Luke said grimly.
I managed to smile. I didn't want to ruin Luke's day because I was being sensitive. "I am fine. I will work things out with him later, don't worry."
"Then, will you stay?" Luke's eyes were hopeful.
Should I stay? My initial urge was to run home, jump in bed, and cry myself to sleep. Pathetic, I know.
But then again, my mom and Steve weren't expecting me home until later, so if I went now, they would know something was wrong and ask me a hundred questions. I was not ready for that either. "I will stay," I said quietly.
"Great. I will cheer you up. I won't pressure you to say anything else but just know that I'm here for you." Luke smiled.
"Why are you so nice to me?" I asked. I expected him to side with Adrian.
"I don't know what Adrian's problem is. But I will find out, don't worry. Let's just forget about him and try to have fun," Luke said and smiled encouragingly.
Easier said than done.
But I listened to Luke's kind words and then returned to the party. "Let's dance, shall we?" Luke offered his hand.
I've always loved dancing. Back in Boston, I used to meet my friends at the club all the time.
And with Chase...
Shoot, I should probably call him. He asked me to call him as soon as I got home, but I never did. I was secretly hoping to break things off with him as I didn't think I wanted this long-distance relationship. But now, it seems like it's a bad idea. I really needed someone to talk to, someone who could lift me up and not pull me down as Adrian does.
"I'd love to dance," I said, forcing a smile. Dancing will cheer me up, that's for sure.
I was right. It didn't take me long before feeling better as Luke, and I moved with the music. It was a fast-paced song, so once I got into the rhythm with Luke, we were both having a good time. Although, I had to admit. He was a great dancer.
I giggled as he twirled me around and ended the dance with a dramatic dip. "Hey, you aren't half bad!" Luke chuckled.
"You are pretty good yourself. Where did you learn how to dance twinkle toes?" I teased.
"Lots and lots of club visiting." Luke laughed. He had his arms still wrapped around my waist, but I didn't mind.
"I love going to the clubs too!"
"Do you? Then maybe we should go together this weekend?" Luke asked and looked at me expectantly.
I hesitated. "I don't know....I mean... Adrian..." I stopped. I almost told Luke I was worried about what Adrian would think, but why should I think about him at all?
Luke suddenly let go of me. "Hey, would you mind if I go help a friend real quick? I won't take long, I promise," he said.
"Sure, no problem. I need to go to the bathroom to freshen up anyway," I let him know.
"Okay! I'll be five minutes tops." With that, Luke ran upstairs.
I walked around, looking for the bathroom. Tiffany's house was huge. Judging from the size of the rooms and expensive furniture, she seems to be pretty well off. And she is beautiful. I imagined Adrian thinking she was a much better catch than I was.
"Looking for something?"
I looked at the boy talking to me. He was staring directly into my eyes, but I could tell he was having a hard time focusing on me. As he moved closer, I smelled a pungent stench of pot, and it made me scrunch my nose.
"Do you know where the bathroom is?" I asked him. However, I wasn't sure if he knew it himself since he was baked out of his mind.
"Keep going down that hall, and it's by the stairs. Hey, do you want to come smoke? We can do it under the stairs."
"No thanks. I'm going now. Thanks for the direction," I said and hurried off.
"Hey my name is Rya-..." the boy yelled behind me, but I kept walking. I couldn't imagine how my face looked after I had been crying and rubbing my eyes. My makeup was most likely smeared all over my cheeks, giving me the Raccoon effect.
I stopped walking as I found the bathroom and to my relief, it was empty.
"Hey you!"
I stopped in my tracks, then turned around. A girl with long black hair and glasses was glaring at me.
"Um...sorry. I got here first, so do you mind if I use the restroom? I won't take long, I promise," I said.
"Who the fuck do you think you?" she roared.
I looked at her with confusion. I'd never seen this girl in my life. Behind her was another girl with blonde hair I'd never seen either.
"What the hell were you doing with MY man?"
"Yeah, there are so many other guys here, but you just HAD to go after him," the blonde girl sneered.
"I am sorry, who are you?" I asked. I wondered if they were talking about Adrian. Someone must've seen us arguing outside.
"My name is Rita, and I am with Luke," the black-haired girl replied.
Oh, I see. She must have the wrong idea about Luke and me. "Luke and I are just friends."
"I saw you getting chummy with Luke. I won't let you have him. He's mine," Rita raged.
So the girl thinks I was planning on stealing her man and now charging at me like an angry bull. Great...as if this night hasn't already gone to shit.
"I wasn't getting chummy with him. As I said, I am new in town and Luke is my stepbrother's best friend, so we were just hanging out," I explained.
"You are Adrian's sister? I heard about you. You are kind of a slut, aren't you? So you think you can just come back to Miami and get your grubby hands on my man?" Rita hissed.
I've had enough of this nonsense. Who do these people think I am? Do they think I am some poor innocent girl they can push around and I will take everything lying down? I don't think so.
"For the love of God, don't get your thong in a twist." I sighed. "What the hell is your issue, Rita? Luke didn't mention having a girlfriend. And even if he did, is he not allowed to talk to or make friends with other girls?"
"He's mine. I won't allow some little nobody to walk in and take what I've worked on for months. Luke is mine only," Rita snapped.
"Then you have him. I am not interested in him," I told her and tried to push past, but the blonde shoved me back.
"You aren't going anywhere until you promised to never speak to him again."
"Hearing apparently is not your thing. I've already told you he's yours." I felt anger rising inside me again.
Rita suddenly grabbed my shoulder and pushed me inside the bathroom. The blonde-haired girl came in behind her, then slammed the door shut. Rita's breath reeked of alcohol. She must've been heavily drinking before coming to me.
"Hey! What gives?" I protested.
"You are going to pay for stepping out of line, little girl," Rita hissed.
ADRIANTiffany had been waiting right at the foot of the stairs with a drink in hand for me when I got through the door. The smile on her face promised me more than a good buzz; I wanted to kiss her until I forgot all about Meghan. She was willing to oblige, too. We made out at the foot of the stairs until she had a leg hooked over my hip, grinding her groin against mine as she panted cherry-scented breaths against my lips. "Come up to my room? Please? I swear I'm not a tease. I'll let you do anything you want. Just come with me?" What made Tiff so hot for me? If I had been less drunk, I might have spent more time thinking about it, but all I could care about was how she made my dick hard enough to drive nails. We were in her house, at her party, and talking about going to her room so I could get my hands on her body---as far as I was concerned, Tiffany was the only one whose interests mattered under the circumstances. Meghan could find her own fun. Who really cared if she got w
MEGHANHow was this fair?I was being ganged up by two other girls who looked older and possibly stronger than me. This was such a fucked up situation, I thought. Even if I knew how to fight, which I didn't...I couldn't fight them off both as I was outnumbered. And what are we even fighting about anyway? For a guy I didn't even like?"This is stupid," I said. I shook my head as they were gaining on me."Are you calling me dumb? You slut?" Rita snapped."No, I am not calling you dumb. I am saying this whole thing is dumb. This is a big misunderstanding, that's all. I don't want Luke. I already told you this a thousand times," I said."We don't fucking believe you," Rita's minion barked.Twirling her hair on her finger, Rita stepped even closer to me. So close that I had a hard time breathing as the stench of alcohol in her breath overwhelmed my senses. "I think a lesson needs to be learned. What do you think?" She placed her indexed finger on my chest and then poked it hard, making me
ADRIANFucking Luke.Maggie looked rough from the smackdown she'd evidently gotten herself into in the bathroom. Her eye was swollen, turning dark already, and even her cheek looked puffy on that side. I knew it would be an ugly shiner by morning; I had zero idea what our parents would have to say about it.They'd probably blame me.As if it was my fault my best friend was a manwhore who attracted crazy chicks the way moths swarmed a flame. I couldn't wait get to college. I wasn't ever coming home to these people again.I had to carry her all the way to the bathroom. Luckily, our parents were dead asleep and didn't hear the door. I couldn't wait to get my own place so I didn't have to worry about things like this."Natasha is going to have my head for this, you know that right? You better tell her you took yourself to the party. I'm not getting my ass handed to me because you don't know to stay away from where you aren't wanted.""I was invited!" Maggie protested sharply.I was angry
MEGHAN I rolled to my side and groaned as the entire side of my face hurt. I tried to open my eyes, but it was too painful to open my right eye, so I closed them again. Why does it hurt so much? I touched my aching face and the memories from last night came flooding back. Then, thinking about the party, I laughed bitterly to myself. Oh right. How could I forget the beatdown from Luke's number one fan already? Damn Rita and her temper. Maybe I better stay away from him for a while. I had enough problems of my own already. I needed to figure out how to fix things with Adrian. He was still too angry at me, and I wanted him to stop hating me. "Maggie! Are you up?" I jolted up into a sitting position as I heard my mother's voice. Shit...I wasn't ready for her to see my battered face. I knew she would be disappointed once she saw how her daughter was getting into trouble already. I didn't want her to regret inviting me here to live with her again. "Y...yes, mom," I replied. "It's a
ADRIANI didn't mean to eavesdrop on Maggie's phone call, but I heard everything through the walls. I mean, the walls were pretty thin. I remember she used to yell at me to turn my T.V. down when she was trying to study. My blood boiled when I realized she was talking to another guy. At first, Luke's name came to mind. Had they exchanged numbers already? I didn't think they would move that fast. But then, I heard the name Chase. So she had a boyfriend this whole time, huh?I wanted to confront her, so I waited until Natasha left. I was right when I assumed I would be blamed for everything. Fucking Maggie couldn't stop making me miserable."Chase, huh? So much for Luke's chances---or are you into group activities? You think Luke and Chase would be willing to go for you together?" I sneered at her when I finally got to see her. She had finally hung up on her 'boyfriend' and was lying in bed when I barged in on her."Please, Adrian. Not now. I am not in the mood for your verbal abuse. I'v
ADRIAN"What the hell, Maggie? I told you I was going to sneak in," I cried. Is this girl dumb or what? I specifically told her my plan, but here she was, getting me in even more trouble."S...sorry. It was a reflex. I didn't mean---" Meghan started, but the door burst open, interrupting her mid-sentence.Natasha and my dad both burst into the room -Dad was holding a golf club- while I was holding my hands out to show I wasn't a threat to Maggie."Woah, woah, woah! It's just me!" I cried out."Adrian!" Dad yelled at me, "Why didn't you use the doorbell? I have told you: I will not tolerate you sneaking around the house. While you live under my roof, you'll come in and out through the doors like a civilized person.""The doors were locked," I pointed out, rolling my eyes at his overreaction. Getting yelled at by dad like I was still in high school wasn't exactly on the agenda today. Why did it matter if I used the window instead of the door? I was going to the same place. I lived here,
MEGHANI couldn't make him stay. He wouldn't listen. Was Adrian always this stubborn? He was so full of anger, hatred dripped down his eyes when he looked at me. I was sick of dealing with it as I didn't know how to fix things between us.And I still had Chase to think about. After I watched Adrian storming out of the house, I called Chase back in panic. I wanted to make sure he wasn't serious about coming down here. What will it solve anyway? To my knowledge, all it would do is piss Adrian off even more. The phone went straight to voicemail when I called Chase. He was ignoring me on purpose, most likely because he knew I would tell him not to come.Good thing I didn't tell him my address, but I didn't know if that mattered since he figured out my phone number anyway. What if he somehow found out my address too. Which was kind of stalkerish to be honest. I didn't think Chase was the type.In the morning, my mom dropped me off at campus. I still didn't have a car and Adrian was M.I.A.
ADRIAN"I miss you too, Maggie," I admitted against every instinct in me screaming to keep my big, fat mouth shut. Turning my hand over, I threaded my fingers together with hers; I couldn't help remembering the night we had spent together before she'd left for Boston. My heart beat too fast in my chest and my dick twitched in my pants and I guess I lost my mind."Maggie," I breathed, leaning down---and she didn't stop me.Our lips met softly with a breath being shared between us as I breathed out and Maggie gasped, breathing in. Even if it was only the air I breathed, I loved the idea of any part of me being inside her. Maggie didn't push me away after a full minute of gentle kissing so I lightly traced the seam of her lips with my tongue. She opened her mouth at my request -a door being opened after someone knocked- and her tongue came out to play with mine. We both strained in a way. I wanted to kiss her deeper, harder, more. I thrust my tongue in and out of her mouth as if I we
