55. Dinner Date

MEGHAN

'Put this on and meet me at the foyer,' the little note said. It was attached to an evening gown wrapped in plastic.

I ripped out the note into tiny pieces and then threw it at the stone-faced man in front of me. I expected him to react or say something, but he didn't even flinch. Maybe he was used to people throwing tantrums.

"Tell Chase to kiss my ass and throw this dress at him," I said again.

"I'm afraid I can't do that."

"Then get me a lighter so I can burn this dress. Then, film it and send it to him," I declared.

"I recommend against it," the man said dryly.

I squinted my eyes at him. "What's your name?"

"Charlie."
