I sat down next to Erin, but she didn't even bother to look up.

So I cleared my throat.

I let out a nervous laugh. "Of course, it is," I said.

"No, it's not," she shook her head.

"Why would you say that?" I blinked a few times. This wasn't going well so far.

"This is the middle of the semester. Why would you join us in the middle?" Erin asked.

"Maybe I transferred." I shrugged.

"You are not very convincing."
