Natasha POV
I was shocked when I saw Kevin standing on the door with a beautiful bouquet of hundred yellow roses in the morning. There was a smile on his lips that reached his hazel eyes. The locks of his chocolate brown hair were neatly combed back. Wearing white pants and a black formal shirt, Kevin looked pleasant.
I took the flowers from him and my cheeks heated a little. “Thank you,” I said in a low voice, feeling flustered. How did he manage to come when he was supposed to stay there for two months straight? “Where are aunt and uncle?” I asked, smelling the bouquet in my hands.
“They couldn’t come. One of us had to stay back and they said that you were very upset when they left. So, I came,” he said, still smiling.
When Kevin asked me to have dinner with his parents, I never thought that I would be standing with him and his parents in front of Rita Clark’s house. Apparently, his parents, Robert and Emily were very close friends of Rita’s parents. Rita lived in a huge mansion. Her father controlled a port in the south and had numerous connections in the human world as well. The building was made from imported marble from Italy. There were large gardens all around that were carefully taken care of by the gardeners. A fountain right in front of the portico gurgled as I stepped out of the car with a pale face. “I really wanted Kevin’s engagement to be announced along with Rita’s,” said Emily, Kevin’s mother, excitedly. She clasped her hands and looked at her husband Robert who had a shine in his eyes. She held my hand and tugged me inside. Kevin had come to pick me up and got me straight to Rita’s house. To say that I was stunned was an understatement. I was shocked, dumbfounded, numb. He intro
A faint voice could be heard from somewhere. It tried to pierce my chain of thoughts, but all I could do was stay glued to my tormentor. I didn’t know for how long we remained like it but when his gaze didn’t falter, beads of sweat broke on my temple and a tremor shot down my body. “Apolloo!” Rita shouted from the top of the stairs all over again. And this time I snapped my head in her direction. Wearing a red off-shoulders dress, Rita looked like she had painted red all over her body. Red lipstick, red eyeshadows, red rouge and complete with red stilettos, she appeared to a be a walking red flag. No. A slut. Sorry for my assessment, but that’s what I felt! Rita slowly came down the stairs with a wide smile. She watched Apollo as she took each step down, but she must have followed his gaze because she started looking at me, her smile vanishing. Her eyes widened and jaws clenched so hard that it was a wonder her molars hadn’t broken. She opened her mouth to say something when I felt
I moved as Kevin’s face whipped to the right and he slammed against his father. I heard women shrieking, men gasping audibly and me—I watched it all in stunned silence, shock blasting through me. My head hit the wooden armrest of the sofa and I felt dizzy. Something warm trickled down my ear. Alpha Jacob and Artemis rushed forward. Before Kevin could recover, Apollo lunged at him again and fisted on the other side of his jaw. I had never seen this wild side of Apollo. It was as if his beast had taken over, because I could hear him growling. He looked so out of control. He staggered back to his feet and gave one look to me. I started shivering. This time Kevin got up too. He wiped the blood from his lips and punched back Apollo. His lip split and blood exploded. All the women now stood on the side and watched them both in numbed silence. I wondered if any of them were breathing. Hell, I wasn’t breathing. “Kevin! Apollo!” Alpha Jacob’s voice boomed in the room, but Apollo was on
Nicole shrugged. “The rumor has it that his father had gone to save him and was brutally injured while doing so. But the interesting part is that they all shoved the whole episode under the rug.” She exhaled heavily. “We were told that they both met with a terrible accident. When they returned, both were healing at the same time in the hospital.” She lowered her voice as if someone would listen to her in the car. “I think Alpha Jacob murdered lots of wolves to save him and he went alone to save him.” Gods! “And where’s his friend who he visited?” “Dead.” I gulped and rubbed my chest feeling a chill settle in my heart. Apollo went through a harrowing experience so early in his life. He must be so distressed. My parents died when I was five and I missed them terribly. Nicole stopped the car outside my home. When I stepped out, she said, “I have to go to see Gabe. I am helping him at the bakery. He has less staff today.” “Sure!” I waved a bye-bye. “And thank you.” “You will be fine
His cock rested on my rear over the towel. Its heat traveled through the towel, into my body. For a long time, we were both silent as he didn’t move his finger and stayed there. We both stood frozen in that position for what seemed like eternity. I should have felt the pain when he thrust his finger, but all I felt was… full. I think I should have taken psychology as one of my subjects so that I could understand my own. He hissed, “You are so fucking wet for me, aren’t you?” And then he moved his finger a little. I gasped, reveling in the motion. He started slowly at first and then increased his pace. “Ah!” I groaned even though I didn’t want to. I pursed my lips but boy did that help me? I started making sounds through my pursed lips at every thrust of his finger. My whole body became a putty in his hands. No, with his finger. What if Nicole came here along with Gabe? What if she discovered me in this position with one man, she knew I hated? My cheeks heated all the more and I
My cellphone chimed again but I didn’t look at it. I was sure it was a text from Apollo and I was damn sure that it was dirty. How could I read that in front of Nicole? And just as I thought it would be, two more texts came after which my phone started ringing. “Who is that?” Nicole asked me as she winked and removed her arms around my waist. “Must be aunt Paula,” I lied. “She is very worried about me.” “Then pick up her phone!” Nicole said. “Aren't you being rude?” She jabbed a finger in my chest and then left. I pursed my lips tight. And I didn’t pick up the phone. I needed space. Space rocket. I wanted to sit in it and go to Mars or maybe Saturn or perhaps a different galaxy. Determined not to read his texts or pick up his phone, I sat down at the table and started reading the menu. Gabe’s bakery was a cute little place. There were several tables on the inside and a few under the alfresco on the outside. Harry Styles, Falling, played in the background. I chose to sit by the tin
I ignored Apollo’s calls and texts for the next two days. The wedding was round the corner and the last thing I wanted was to get distracted. It was different that I was at the edge. There was not a single free moment when I didn’t think of him and that awareness sliced my guts. His thoughts elicited tingles in my lower belly. Nicole had bought an iced cantaloupe bridesmaid dress for me but it was pretty huge. We had to give it back for alterations. Since the wedding was at the packhouse which John had insisted upon as a venue, Gabe, Nicole and I were rushing around everywhere to fix things. Gabe had arranged for decorations, food and drinks beforehand, yet it was important that we oversaw all the preparations. Nicole had asked her father to keep the guest list to a minimum, but John said, “It’s not every day that your daughter gets married!” He had to show it off to the entire pack. Still, Nicole managed to slash half the invites. In the morning of wedding, Nicole was dressing up.
Releasing a ragged breath, I walked back to the wedding venue. I couldn’t make the head or tail of what Artemis just said, but it left me wondering why he would say that about his brother. The thought stirred something inside me and I staggered a little. it was as if that thing touched the surface of my body. I pressed my hand against my chest as beads of sweat broke on my brows. I felt a strange tug inside, as if something or someone awakened from deep sleep. The feeling lasted for only a minute. Sucking in a sharp breath, I tried to gather my wits. When I entered the main hall, I saw John giving a speech of fatherly love and Gabe was busy kissing his bride behind his back. Gabe just couldn’t keep his hands off her. He had lifted her off her feet and carried her to the center where people had already started cheering them for a dance. There was complete mayhem and John had to cut short his speech after muttering threats that he would see them all while training. He had prepared it m
