Chapter 10: His Wedding Plan

Evie

“But I guess you have to get ready to call me Damien.”

I looked at him as my thoughts went all over the future. I was ready to be married to him — after all, that was the condition in exchange for my safety. But I didn’t imagine anything else than marriage.

I didn’t imagine the thrill. I failed to think what I would be going through if I do that — how hard would it be to not fall for this bastard.

He sighed and took a step back. “I’ve thought about it for a while but all the plans I made seem to fail.”

I looked at him.

“I don’t think I have much of a choice anymore. I will set the wedding day soon. All the preparations will be done. To avoid any backlashes, the wedding will be done as a grand one.”

I slowly nodded my head. “But—”

He walked to his room, cutting my words in between. It was hard understanding him and it was even harder to make sense of the words he said.

_______________

Trevor

“One single girl and you can’t find her?” My voice was filled with rage.

“We know where she must be but it is out of our range, boss. We can’t force her out of there and apparently she isn’t in the mood to come out on her own.”

I scoffed in frustration and ran my hand through my hair. “You’ve got to be kidding me. I will talk to him myself.”

Everyone nodded and fear was evident in their eyes. They didn’t want to see me and Damien against each other — but if fate wants it, I am not going to stop it.

I picked up my phone and dialled his number. He picked it up at first beep.

“What’s up Trev?” He said in a normal voice.

I exhaled sharply. “I need Evie.”

“That’s my future wife you are talking about!” he exclaimed and I scoffed.

“You? And marriage? It is not an option. You are never going to settle down.”

He stayed silent for a moment. “I will soon send you the invitation to our marriage. That way, your doubts will disappear and probably you’ll stop hunting her.”

“Why are you even on her side?” I finally asked, “She betrayed you!”

“That is the point. She didn’t. She wanted to, but—”

“Exactly! A few days ago, you would have shot someone who even thought of going against you. And now, she — who worked for Lucifer and probably helped him against you — is going to be your wife? And you are actually okay with that? What happened to your senses, Damien!?”

My words seemed to have a little effect. He stayed silent for another minute before replying: “I don’t care what you believe in. I believe her and that’s it.”

“Dami—”

The call ended and I sighed heavily. What should I even do now?

“I think it is unsafe to plan the wedding in America,” I heard Damien as he entered my room. I looked up from the bed I was sitting on.

“Huh?”

“Yes.” He sat down on the couch. “Everyone must have their bases and plans ready here. I think we should take a secret passage out of the country. Somewhere safe.”

I shrugged. “It is your wish.”

“How about Russia?”

“Too many mafias!” I exclaimed.

He raised his eyebrow. “How do you know?”

“Have we met?” I replied and he chuckled.

“Right. I am not used to people having the same knowledge about this stuff as me.”

I smirked, “Well. I am not used to being around people who have any knowledge about this.”

He sighed. “France?”

“Too cliche!”

He tilted his head to the side and rolled his eyes. “Vietnam?”

“Are you randomly picking them?”

“Of course. Do you think I have the time to think and plan? Idiot.”

I got up and sighed. “Then choose any. Really, apart from Russia, Italy and France. The first too are dangerous and France is overrated. So?”

He got up too. “Well, Vietnam is good for me.”

“Then it is set.”

I nodded with a small smile before walking over to the bathroom for a shower. I had to think a lot of things through — while trying to understand why he’d want to take me to Asia — this far from here, instead of any other countries nearby.

He was so secretive about everything and I have just so much to figure out.

_____

I came out of the shower after fifteen minutes, wrapping a towel around my body. As I was picking up my clothes, I heard a phone ring. Coincidentally, I knew that it was Damien’s — because it definitely wasn’t mine.

I left the clothes on the bed and walked over to the table.

‘Amara’

I was confused by the name. Of course I wouldn’t pick it up, but I was so curious to know who it was.

“Is it mi—”

I heard Damien’s voice and I turned around towards the door. His eyes landed on me and I felt his deep gaze checking me out.

He eyed me from up to down for a good minute and the phone stopped ringing.

“I-I should wear—” I wanted to escape his penetrating gaze but he took a few dominating steps towards me, which made me freeze in my position.

I looked at him: “W-What are you doing?”

He came closer and looked into my eyes. I looked back into those beautiful orbs, the ones that had always fascinated me.

He tucked a hair strand behind my ears and his touch gave me goosebumps. My cheeks were red and hot.

“B-Boss—”

“It is Damien from now.”

I took a few deep breaths as I processed that. Damien. I should call him by his name?

I looked down.

His hand reached out to my jaw and he made me look at him again. “So?” He said in a deep voice.

“D-Damien, I should—”

“You shouldn’t.”

I gulped down. He was intimidating. Even to me.

“But—”

“Shh,” He kept a finger on my lips and I shut up immediately. He leaned in and kissed the side of my mouth, making my skin crawl.

I couldn’t say or do anything because it took all of my concentration to breathe evenly — and I was constantly failing.

His hot breath lingered on the nape of my neck for a few seconds before he took a step back and looked away. “Yeah, you should dress up.”

I hurriedly picked up my clothes and went to the bathroom, while I think he was on the phone.

What does he want with me? Why does he behave so strangely when he’s near me? And who is Amara?
