Chapter 13: Mrs. Wright

Damien

We reached the airport in a few minutes and sat down in our private plane. I looked over to her and she was quite amazed.

“What? Never seen a private plane before?” I couldn’t help but ask, smirking.

She rolled her eyes before looking around again, her beautiful eyes glistening with amazement. “Not really.”

“Well, you should get used to this. Now that you’re going to be Mrs. Wright.”

Her eyes flickered for a second and she looked at me, thinking about something. I could share the same emotions because the same feelings erupted inside me.

Mrs. Wright.

My wife.

I smiled to myself. Even though the consequences leading up to right now weren’t pretty, I couldn't think how this could be anything bad. I didn’t have any problems with her — and for some reason, I thought that it was only good since I might never find someone like her again.

Her sarcasm.

Her cute smile.

Her eye-rolls.

Her comebacks.

Mostly, her carefree yet caring nature.

Who else could fit the description of being my perfect wife when she herself is the description I never knew I had?

“You seem to be more lost in thoughts than me, considering I am the one to board a private plane for the first time.”

Her voice interrupted my thoughts. I looked at her and didn’t say anything. I smiled.

I looked at him and he seemed to be still lost in his thoughts. He didn’t even reply to me, just kept on smiling.

I looked down. I was overwhelming myself with my thoughts. Can you believe that I actually think he likes me?

I mean, I don’t know. I haven’t noticed his foot facing me or his pupils growing when he thinks about me!

And me?

Any other day, I would have fallen head over heels for him. But I can’t, not when I know that this all means nothing to him — it is just because of his dad.

So, why bother getting hurt?

I smiled to myself, sadly, which seemed to be eerily similar to his. I wonder what he was thinking.

I wonder what will happen after I marry him.

His phone rang after a while. “Thanks. We’ll reach there by tomorrow night.” He kept the phone down and gave me a small smile.

I raised my eyebrow.

“Nothing. They were confirming our arrival.” He answered my unasked question.

I looked at him confused again. “Why are you being so nice to me?”

“What did I even do?” He shared a similar confusion.

“Well, you didn’t say any snarky comments and you answered me in a way human answers another human.”

He chuckled.

“I am a human, Evie.”

“Well, I know that. You don’t behave like one sometimes.”

He made a ‘done’ face and I laughed. “What?” I asked.

“You are going to regret marrying me so much.”

“Am I?” I laughed. “Well, that makes the two of us.”

“Oh, I won’t regret anything, trust me.”

He looked at me with an intense gaze and then looked at my lips. I stopped laughing. He checked me out from top to bottom and then looked at me again, biting his lip.

My cheeks turned red and I looked down. The temperature in the airplane suddenly rose and we became quiet.

Anyway, it was going to be a long flight. Almost 17 hours. So, I needed to sleep. “Good night,” I whispered to avoid the awkwardness, even though it was day.

“Night.”

______________

After a long time, asleep and a long time awake, we reached Vietnam.

I followed him out. He had a car ready and we were taken to an amazing hotel.

"Thank you so much for trusting us, Mr. Wright," the hotel manager said with a big smile as he welcomed us, and then he noticed me. "And…"

"Mrs. Wright. To be Mrs. Wright, anyway." Damien introduced me and a small smile appeared on my lips.

The man smiled widely. “Thank you so much for coming, Mrs. Wright.”

I hadn’t married him yet but still, I was being called Mrs. Wright.

It felt so good.

“Thank you,” I replied and smiled. Then, he gave us our room key — a single presidential suite.

I bit my lip imagining being alone with him again. After that night, I had tried to keep my distance from him but now that was impossible, right?

We entered the lift and it closed up. I looked at him and he smirked.

“I can’t imagine how dirty your thoughts would be right now.”

I looked down while heat rushed to my cheeks. He suddenly pushed me against the lift wall and I gasped. He kissed me and I kissed him back, breathing heavily.

The lift beeped, pointing that it had come to a stop and he got away quickly. I couldn’t even react well before he walked out.

I exhaled and butterflies erupted in my stomach.

Damn. He was so fast.

I followed him and we entered the suite. It was huge — and I was not exaggerating at all. It was like three or four rooms combined.

“Woah. How much did this cost?” I asked while looking around.

“Less than what it will cost you.”

I looked at him and raised my eyebrow. “What?”

He removed his tie and untied the first two buttons of his shirt, showing his muscular chest. I bit my lower lip and tried to look away.

“I mean,” his voice was suddenly deep. “How long do you think can you control yourself around me?”
