Prank gone wrong

CHAPTER ONE

Alexa

"Stacey. Do we have everything we need?" I asked.

"Yes. We do." Stacey replied.

"Let's do a double check."

"Okay."

When I was sure we had everything we needed, I dragged Stacey through the door. Letting ourselves into the car, we both drove off.

Oh, Nick was so gonna get it this time. How dare he, cancel our date night. And no, I wasn't being a drama queen. We both had taken a while without spending time with each other, football practices and everything that came with it.

As far as I knew, the football coach had given the team a week off, after they had led the state to championship this year. Like every good girlfriend, I had come up with an idea to spend time with my boyfriend, make out with him or something, but of course, I'm the only one that thought that way. Apparently.

Having persistently asked him if he would make it this weekend, and him assuring me he would show up, I thought it was a done deal, only for Karma to bitch slap me in the face. 15 minutes to the time he was to pick me up, I received a text, saying that he wouldn't make it. The audacity of this guy.

After all the time I had spent getting ready...ugh...I could only fantasize about rolling him into a marshmello and roasting him over a camp fire.

Seriously, is that all I could think about?

Apparently, yes. Despite all my other flaws, I wasn't a violent person. I didn't ponder the matter anymore than necessary, not wanting to risk Stacey and I's lives because of my blurred angry vision.

Twenty minutes later, we got to the pub that Nick's probably celebrating with his guy friends. I managed to track him through his phone, and I was quite gleeful that we got him.

I parked a good distance away from the pub. Making sure our escape would be smooth if we needed it. I turned to Stacey, "You ready?"

Her fingers twirled the little pearl in her necklace, letting me know she was nervous. "You sure about this, Alexa?"

"Of course, I'm. I wouldn't be here if I wasn't." I replied, a duh tone in my voice. "But it's okay if you don't wanna come. I'll do this alone."

"No. No. I'll come with you, but please, let's hurry. I have a bad feeling about this."

"Relax, Stacey. Nothing's gonna happen. It's only a little prank to get revenge on my boyfriend." I assured her.

We left the car, sneakly heading to the parking lot. Nick's parents had got him a new bike that he had wanted for a while, presenting it to him as a gift for leading the state to championship by this year. A source had told me he would ride it out today, and I was so gonna have fun turning into a hot pink bubbly bike.

Only problem , there's a chink in my armor, trying to ruin my plans. There's about five bikes in the parking lot, and I had a hard time finding out which was Nick's.

Three of them looked brand new, but that didn't solve my problem at all. I wished I had listened to Nick's blubbering about his bike. Maybe, I would have spotted it now.

"Do you know which one it is?" Stacey asked.

"I'm not sure." I said, but I wasn't giving up. "I'm gonna do a guessing game. Which one do you think looks more expensive?"

Stacey and I both examine the bikes, and when we come to the same conclusion, we adorn our masks, and get to work.

45 minutes later, I stare at our handiwork, especially admiring the Hello Kitty cat I managed to draw on the seat. It really looks amazing. I giggle as I imagine the sight on Nick's face when he got a look of his bike.

He would get red in the face, the muscles in his shoulders tense, making him look like a kangaroo ready to do battle. No offense boyfriend, kangaroos are adorable. It's not long before Stacey and I were a giggling fit.

"Hey."

A shout that didn't sound anything like Nick's voice interrupted us.

We both froze, and I watched as Stacey's blue eyes widen. Oh, oh. We were in so much trouble.

"Run."

Our legs took up the command, and soon, Stacey and I were racing across the parking lot to my car. Whoever that guy was' foot stumps could be heard, and I urged Stacey on as we ran faster. Clearly, he was running after us, and not so far behind. We got to the car, let ourselves in before I locked all the doors.

I started up the engine, and before I could speed away, said guy jumped on my hood. His dark gaze connected with mine, and for a moment, I was lost in it.

"What are you waiting for? Get him off." Stacey yelled, breaking me out of my staring stupor.

I started the car, driving it at a high speed before hitting the brakes so suddenly, throwing the guy off. If it hadn't been for our seatbelts, Stacey and I would have been flung through the windshield too.

I watched him roll away, hoping that he wouldn't get any serious injuries. I started the car again, before driving off with Stacey.

Phew. That was close.

✴✴✴✴

It's Monday again, meaning I was currently at school. I was still pissed off at Nick and since he hadn't apologized yet, he wasn't in my best books.

I hadn't seen Stacey yet after that saga or more accurately, the little adventure we had. She had left my house after giving me an earful of what had happened and how we had risked our lives, and freedom if we had been caught. I, on the other hand thought she was dramatic, secretly of course.

I aimlessly wondered the halls, not in the mood of returning to my English class yet. Much as I loved Pride and Prejudice, I had reread the book a thousand times, I was afraid I would go insane if I did it again.

Having found nothing else to do, I decided to return to class, but Mrs. Sheffield's voice, our principal, interrupted me.

"Mrs. Anderson, can I have you for a few minutes?"

The woman asked so politely, I couldn't help but smile at her, which she returned.

"Mrs. Sheffield, how may I help you?" I asked.

"There's a new student, and I would like if you could show him to his first class, please. Perhaps his other classes too, later in the day."

"Sure, Mrs. Sheffield. But it's the middle of the term. how can a new student join?"

"Well, I'm afraid dire circumstances call for emergency decisions. Wait here, and I'll fetch him from my office."

Mrs. Sheffield walked away, and I kept outside her door, waiting. The sound of a door creaking reached my ears, and since I had been looking down, a pair of leather biker boots greeted my sight.

I looked up, finding long legs clad in dark jeans, a black shirt and a killer leather jacket. Slowly, I lifted my head and met his face, and all color drained from mine.

No. it couldn't be. Why did it have to be me? I stare at the new student, but to be more specific, the guy from yesterday.

I'm left repeating a mantra in my head, praying that he couldn't recognize me. Afterall, I hadn't taken off my mask yet before he had come charging toward us.

My hopes were cast out the window as his dark gaze narrowed on me, and he stepped closer. Too close. His lips moved, and that one word left his mouth in a whisper.

"You."
