Forty-three

“Jane, we’re here.” Scarlett tapped me. I slowly opened my eyes, stretching my arms out a bit. When did I fall asleep again? “We’re here.” She repeated.

I glanced out the window at the two story building sitting right in front of the car. It had so many flowers and plants around it, on the walls, the rails, which added to its beauty. Behind the house, there was a forest that seemed farther than it looked. “It’s such a beautiful place.” I commented.

“Yes, let’s head inside.” She still sounded sulky.

We got out of the car and caught up with Alpha Keegan by the doorway.

He rang the doorbell and it didn't take a minute before the door flung open and Pam Anderson, Scarlett's Mother, came in view, grinning from ear to ear. Scarlett looked like a photocopy of her with the same blue eyes and short blonde hair.

“Alpha, Scarlett, I’m so glad you’re here! And you're together.” She grinned and pulled both of them into a joint hug before pulling away.
