Chapter 16.Gabby and Tan were going out to dinner tonight.Tan stood at the entrance to her apartment looking dapper as always. Gabby was trying to make some toast for breakfast when she heard the doorbell ring. It was Sunday morning and she was hoping to sit in and rest. It didn't matter that she'd been doing that all weekend, what mattered was that she wasn't expecting anyone this morning. She was supposed to meet up with Laila later in the afternoon and it was too early for her to be here. Besides, she expected that they'll meet each other in a café for some coffee. Tan stared down into the glass of whiskey he had in his hand. No matter how deep or how long he stared into the brown liquid, he couldn't get the image of Gabby's face, the last time he saw her, out of his mind. He really messed this one up big time. The memory of Gabby flipping free his hand was engraved in his mind. At what point would the alcohol stop the memories from intruding his thoughts, he often wondered and even after downing shot after shot. Even if he ever survived this phase of his life where he felt like his heart was ripped out of his cage whenever he was sober, his liver might have a hard time catching up.He hurt her. Gabby stared at the numbers on the elevator as they contend, tapping her foot impatiently. It took forever until the elevator finally gave a ting and let her out. She felt so anxious and needed to keep her mind off anything that concerned the Lees; including Tan.
