A New Life

[Chance’s POV]

My eyes rake the crowd in front of me that is going crazy with excitement until I find Gale’s pale and shocked face between the bodies. Immediately, I begin to move, realizing that something isn’t quite right.

When I manage to reach, all my eyes can focus on is the excess amount of blood that is dripping from beneath Gale as our friends try to do something to stop it.

"What’s going on?" I demand, kneeling in front of Gale and placing my hands on her cheeks. "Hey, look at me!"

"We need to get her back." Elleric snaps, pulling my hands away from his sister. "Can’t you see that she is barely hanging on?"

"I’m aware." I growl.

Standing, I scoop Gale into my arms and begin to move. By now, the entire courtroom has taken notice of what is happening and is watching us with curiosity and worry.

"Move!" I growl, shoving the gawkers aside. "Can’t you fucking see that she needs medical attention?"

Looking down, I take in Gale’s much too pale complexion and the sweat that is beginn
