Chapter Two (Anders)

My jaw clenched when Olympia entered the kitchen, and she launched herself at me kissing me. Before I could react, Isla had pulled her off of me with a growl and had her pinned to the floor by her neck.

“STAY THE HELL OFF MY MATE.” She growled, her fierceness causing my body to react.

“I love cat fights.” Alec smiled, enjoying himself as Thane and I frowned.

Olympia's eyes widened in surprise, then narrowed as she moved, flipping Isla onto her back and punched Isla in the face. Anger rose, and I wanted to have her punished, but I knew I had to let her handle this on her own. She was Luna, and they needed to learn to respect her.

Isla kicked Olympia off of her and sent her flying as she jumped up to her feet and got in a fighting stance. Olympia charged at her, but Isla dodged, kicking her in the stomach. Olympia grabbed a knife from the counter and lunged at her again.

“Are you going to stop this or stand there getting a woody?” Vilkas hissed angrily.

“I can’t and you know why. If I intervene, they will not respect her as Luna.” I thought back.

“Who the fuck are you, hybrid?” Olympia hissed as Isla barely dodged the blade, a small line of blood dripping down her arm. Isla ignored it and when Olympia lunged at her again, she let her stab her in the side, grabbing Olympia by the throat. She shoved her into the wall, her eyes flickering between violet, ice-blue and green.”

"Do you think she has made her point now?" Vilkas roared at me. "Now our mate is injured."

Olympia’s eyes were panicked.

“Stay… away… from him.” Isla bit out the command slowly. Blood trickled down Olympia’s neck as Isla’s hand squeezed it harder.

“Would she actually kill her?” I thought to myself.

“She has every right to.” Vilkas sneered. “I hate that little stalker, and after stabbing the Luna it would be justified."

“Doesn’t mean she should die.”

Isla’s eyes cleared, and she released Olympia, and the terrified woman fell to the floor.

“She is your Luna and my mate.” I informed Olympia once the fight had ended.

She looked at me, eyes filled with tears, “but we were supposed to be together.”

“It was one drunken night four years ago, and you have been gone for three years. I hardly call that a relationship.” I retorted coldly.

Her eyes filled with tears as she ran from the room, hopefully heading back to where ever the hell she had been the past few years.

I reached out my hand to Isla to pull her to me, but she refused. It shook her head and moved to stand beside Shaw. Her face remained emotionless, but I could tell by her eyes that she was hurting. That seeing me with Olympia had hurt her.

“You done fucked up Anders.” Vilkas warned.

“Yeah, I know.” I grumbled back.

“Well, that was awkward.” Shaw shared as he looked at Isla’s arm, “You, okay?” he asked before adding. "You should get those cuts looked at." Shaw stated when Isla grabbed a piece paper towel from the counter and wiped the blood off her arm before putting pressure on the stab wound in her side.

"It's fine, they will be healed soon." Isla retorted with an edge of anger in her voice. Her eyes turned blue and blue light emanated from her hand and when she moved the paper towel away, her wound was gone.

"Neat trick." Alec smirked.

"Zemira won't tell me how she does that." Isla shared with a shrug.

“I’m going back to the dining hall. Maybe Omen will be back early.” She spoke before heading to pour herself another cup of coffee and headed out of the kitchen, without a glance towards me. I went to follow, but Thane's arm stopped me.

“Don’t... whether you intended to or not, you hurt her, and she probably wants to be left alone.”

“I have to explain to her…”

“What’s there to explain you slept with miss clingy four years ago and now she thinks you're hers, it was explained quite clearly, no?” Alec interjected.

“That’s not the full story, it’s only a piece of it.” I defended.

“I don’t think she wants to hear it right now, bro.”

“Fine!” I snapped. Angry, I poured a cup of coffee.

“So, what will you do with Ashina?” Shaw asked me.

“I’m not sure, it depends on Isla, it was her she betrayed.” I spoke honestly.

Shaw nodded looking a little concerned, “How mad do you think she is at her?”

“Judging by the cup she smashed, very.” Alec smiled.

“Give her time to calm down, she may be angry now, but I am sure she sees both sides, the hurt of betrayal doesn’t exactly fade easily.” Thane noted.

Omen walked into the kitchen, “This is where you are hiding.” He stated before asking, “May I?” as he pointed to the coffeepot.

“Help yourself.” Alec answered.

“Why did you never answer my calls?” I asked him as he poured a cup of coffee.

“Your pack member kidnapped our Queen. It was a great inconvenience to us.”

“He never kidnapped anyone. She went willingly.”

He shrugged, “Her husband said otherwise.” He paused, “Speaking of which, where is our Queen?” he looked around the room.

“She’s in the dining hall waiting for us, I suppose.” Thane shared.

Omen nodded, I think we should join her.

“Wait, I have one more question, if you don’t mind.”

“Not at all, Alpha Anders, what can I help you with?”

"What are your laws regarding hybrids? Isla believed she would be executed if your coven ever found her."

“We don’t have laws regarding hybrids. We revere power among our kind and hybrids brings a new kind of power to the collective, so in a sense they would be celebrated, not feared.”

“So why would her mother run and not use her coven to protect both of them?”

“She was the blood heir, not her husband, so that wouldn’t have been an issue. Maybe there is another element we are unaware of.” Omen suggested.

“Great, another mystery to solve.” Thane frowned as we filled our cups and headed back to the dining hall.

When we walked in, Isla was being swarmed with pack members. All asking a million questions, "is it true you are the daughter of the moon goddess? Can you talk to her whenever you want? What’s she like? Are you part of the prophecy?"

Although she looked calm, her eyes were panicked as she backed away from the group, trying to escape.

“One at a time, please.” She stated, as they continued to bombard her with questions. She looked around and her eyes settled on me as she mouthed, “Please stop them.”

“OUT!” I roared to the room. Shocked faces turned to face me, as they looked down ashamed and went to leave.

“How dare you confront your Luna like that?” Alec scolded them as if they were small children a gleam in his eyes.
