Vladimir:

I watched as Eliana walked inside the hotel again.

Her eyes seemed drained of life and I had to fight back the urge of running toward her, cradling her in my arms.

She walked toward me, her lips quivering as I wrapped my arms around her, hugging her tightly. She laid her head on my chest as I laid mine on the crown of her head.

“Can we please leave?” Eliana asked. Her voice above a whisper, clearly not trusting it to speak out loud.

I nodded and wrapped an arm around her, guiding her to the door. I could tell that she was barely seeing in front of her. Her eyes looked around everyone around, but she wasn’t really seeing anything or anyone. Her mind elsewhere, and not knowing how it actually went; I didn’t know what he might have told her.

I ran my finger over her arm, assuring her, but I knew that nothing I was going to do was going to make a difference. The woman was shattered, inside and out, and I didn’t know how much she was going to handle before she collapsed again.
