~Escape ~

Beth awoke slowly with confusion. She wasn't exactly sure what had happened to her, if it was a nightmare or she actually went through all she had in the past hours and was still breathing.

The event of having her bare back mutilated in the hands of that dark eyes monster flooded back to her and she heard herself gasped and made to jerk upright but was immediately greeted by an immense amount of pain, shooting across her back.

Whatever was left of her shredded piece of clothing was still attached to her body but her back was left bare, from top to waist.

Beth was forced to lay back down on the cold hard floor even though it smell like the damn sewage from hell. Her back ache with untold pain as she lay on it still. It feel as though it has glue on it and was stuck to the surface of the floor. Moving abruptly could cause her more pain, she was certain of that.

Not withstanding the pain, she roll over on her side and gave a muffled scream into the floor, baring her back into the dark cell that was covered in red patchy sores and thoroughly mutilated.

The crack on the wall told her it was still dark in the night as she lay on the floor gasping for air. Plotting an escape out of that hell could be deadly if not worst than what she has already been put through but she rather die trying to escape than allow herself be torture till death.

More pain shot through her as she managed to pull herself into a seating position, her teeth clenched together to keep from screaming into the night and attracting their attention.

With her last bit of strength, she struggled up on her feet and tried to pick at the locks but found it secured safely from the outside. Moving towards the window, she began to push at it, seeing that the wood holding it together wasn't exactly strong anymore. Half of its holding had already being devoured by canker worms.

Once it cracked and gave in, she quickly pushed herself up and over the window with her legs dangling over to the ground. Without giving it a second thought, she took a leap of faith through the air and landed on her feet before she dropped to her knees on the solid ground.

She quickly bite down against her lower lip, suppressing a grunt from escaping her mouth before slumping to the floor completely. Still lying on the ground, a little sigh couldn't help but slip out of her mouth as she gazed up at the full moon. It was shining like never before with a bit of mockery at her.

Did the moon know something that she didn't? She wondered as she continued to stare at it with teary gaze.

Maybe the moon knew all about her story, more than she did. Heck, it has been existing long before her story even began and has seen and heard tales unknown to man. Beth only hoped, her story wouldn't be one of condemnation and pain and there was still a silver lining in the mist of all her storms in life.

There has to be. She refused to die without anyone finding out whatever had happened to her. Despite all her pains, getting out was still a must.

Grinding her teeth stubbornly, she struggled back on her feet and began to push through the darkness, willing her feet to go faster once she crawl past the security lights and into the open field at the other end, leading into the tree lines.

The more she pushed herself, the more the ache on her back was starting to weigh down on her, thwarting her effort even more as she was suddenly hit with dizziness and blurred vision.

Fueled with the desire to escape her captors against all odds, Beth continued to force her legs to keep up, not paying attention to the throbbing ache in her head.

she stumbled a few times unable to see where she was headed as she finally made it through the field and into the surrounding forest and continued to creep along. At the back of her mind, she just needed to cover a few more distance before they wake up and discovered she was gone and go after her.

Branches of trees slap and wiped against her bare shoulders as she struggled through the forest. Just when she thought she has already covered enough distance, she heard a growl behind her, followed by a nasty snarl not far from her position.

Scared to her marrow, Beth paused in her next hasty step when she came face to face with a dark figure standing directly in her path, even worst, he was butt naked.

Her whole body became immovable under his eyes as she stood like a little deer caught under a bright headlight. She tried not to look at anywhere else other than his face but still couldn't get past his glaring eyes.

Still caught between the figure and turning back towards the same direction she came, she began to beg as she inch her way backward, hoping it will get whoever it was to let her go rather than be forced to go back towards hell.

"Please, just let me go" She begged and he took a step out of the dark and further into the moon light, exposing himself before her eyes which also prompted her to look away abruptly before taking more steps away from him as well.

She recognized him as the same guy with Asher earlier in the car and to top it off, he was just as mean towards her.

The naked man saw the irritated look on her face and only scoffed at her reaction towards him. "How far do you think you can run before the whole pack catches up with you and tear you apart into shreds"

He took another step closer with a snarl."You really have no idea what you are up against, do you?"

He tried to reached for her and she quickly back away but instead of meeting a solid surface, her feet caught on a dry log behind her, sending her tumbling to the floor but he caught her right before she could land on her injured back.

The impact of his grip around her mid rib made her yelp in pain as though she has been attacked. Cursing under his breath, he quickly let go but not before turning her around to stare at her cut filled back.

"Damn" She heard him cursed under his breath once more.

Beth couldn't help but feel dizzy under his grip but before she could sway, he caught her arm and steadied her back on the ground yet again but that gesture was enough to get her to kick and trash to be let go of.

"Hey, stop struggling and let me help you" She heard his deep voice growling at her. Only when she finally relaxed was she able to get a better glimpse of his face and her brow immediately furrowed in confusion.

"Why are you helping me?" She asked in panic realizing that he was no different from the rest of them yet he only gave a careless shrug in reply.

"That should be the least of your worries right now.  If you still wish to escape from here than you have to allow me tend to your wound before you either die from infection or high fever"

"No, just let me go. I don't need your help" She managed to breath out and he quickly let her go.

Beth knew he was probably right about her wounds. It true she needed help as her breath was starting to come out shallow and extremely warm but could she couldn't trust that he really wanted to help her. It's possible she was being tricked by his kindness like Asher did.

She has to get away from him and every single one of his kind and she wanted to do it at that very point. She staggered a few steps but her feet gave in due to too much fatigue and she went crashing to the floor.

Still dazed from her fall, Beth heard him sigh before she felt his shadow hovering over her on the ground. Beth whimpered in protest as he lifted her off the ground and into his arms bridal style before he began to carry her away against her will back to camp.

Feeling overwhelmed with the pain in her head, she couldn't help but press her face into the stranger's chest in a bit to find some sort of relief briefly before passing out once more.
