“Esmeray Lui Colin!” I heard my name upon entering the school; I sighed; I didn’t even have to look who was it, there is only one person who have the guts to yell her name.

“Calliyah, I told you to tone down your voice, didn’t I?” she stopped running and acted as if zipping her lips and throwing the key; I rolled my eyes and held the strap of my bag pack, I resume walking again.

“Finally, you agreed this year,” she was walking happily, even skipping some steps; she clung her arms to mine, which did not bother me, we had known each other for twelve years, and she’s always like that, child-like. It sometimes annoys me, but being able to stand with her for years, it's like a natural routine of her day; Shouting, running, gossiping, being too excited. An optimistic girl.

“I have no other excuse to skip this year,” some of the students were greeting me with the same energy, but their aura said otherwise, these people; you won't see it on their face, good thing, I can figure who's a who, and who's a not.

“Are you with the same class as mine?” she excitedly asked; while unwrapping her chocolate bar, I grabbed it just before she could bite it, “What?!” she yelled again, with widden eyes, like I did something to betray her, that's her. Overreacting.

“You know you could die by overeating of this; stop killing yourself just because you’re broken-hearted, Liyah,” I said in a matter of fact tone, I don't have to look at her aura, I just have to look at her eyes, and observe her action. She can fool everyone; not me.

Her eyes widened, “Have you gained your line?! Can you read minds now?!” She shook me like there was no tomorrow.

“What the fuck, no! stop!” I’m removing her hands, clinging to my arms; I felt dizzy, this woman! She won't stop. Her and her crazy ideas. Damn it.

“Jeez, whatever, anyway, how’s Levi? I heard the runway again,” we reached our designated room, and we decided to sit in the middle; a few students, along with their peers, excitedly talking about their vacation.

Our uniform were a thumbs up, I'm not into skirt, but at least it's longer than the other schools from other cities.

“Just like the usual scene, he’ll be out for I don’t know how long, you know that guy, he’ll always do gain his position to his tribe, which he thinks is rightfully his,” I said, while tying my hair, my nape was sweating, I didn’t let mom give me a ride to the school, she was so persistent on riding me to school, but I don’t want to bother her, she’s working so hard. I just walk, like the usual thing to do.

Levi, mom brought him home when I was twelve years old; that guy must have been through a lot; I can see it in his eyes. His eyes always shout pain and insecurity; he promised himself that he would gain the position in the right way.

He came from a beta family; he was considered the black sheep of their family. He is far from his other siblings; Levi is stubborn; he will do what he wishes to do. However, I don’t see him as the black sheep; he is determined, persevering, and decisive; when he wants something, he will do everything to get that.

“But isn’t that too cruel?” I looked at her, “I mean being kicked out because you’re not strong enough, and your family won’t think of you as their own if you wouldn’t get strong, like them?”

“Isn’t that also what happened to your dad before she met your mom?” she looked at me like I hit the point, “

“Yes, but he wasn’t disowned; grandpa just sent him to a training school; it’s very different to Levi’s fam; he was completely disowned as if he wasn’t once part of that family,”

“Levi was a good guy; his family is just too preoccupied with the fact that they are well known in the field of being one of the strongest clans to our land; it’s a pressure to their name,”

I was writing in my workbook when I heard some footsteps near our barrier; it must be mom, but who was she with? There are two pairs of feet walking toward the house.

I stood up and held Liberty’s hand for us to greet mom. But she went home with a boy, who’s nearly our age, he seemed in pain, his eyes were bluer, his lips were firmed in a straight line, he’s just looking directly, not bothered by us.

“Kids, this is Levi; he will be staying with us in the meantime, be good to him, okay?” Liberty and I nodded.

“He’s like a statue; he’s creepy. Will he punch me?” my eyes widened when I heard Liberty speak; I immediately looked at her and covered her mouth; my mom’s eyes widened when she saw me doing that, “Li, you can’t say mean things to him, mom just said we have to be good to him,”

Mom’s forehead creased, “She wasn’t even speaking, Esmeray!” she shook her head.

“No, she’s-“I looked at my mom and the boy; I just sighed and mumbled my apology.

After a couple of months, Levi started to act like a brat. At first, I thought he was really some kind of delinquent kid outside, but I noticed that when he’s interacting with us, by softly bullying us, he’s shining, is that happiness?

He wasn’t hurting us, so I let him do what made him happy; mom would usually be out, working; I’m the eldest, so I’m responsible for them while mom is not around.

But one day, a few men went to our home and threatened to hurt us if Levi won’t come with them, but I remained standing and asked them to leave; that’s when I first met my wolf, Luna. The opposite of me, she’s hot-headed, impatient, and more. Good thing, our neighbors, came to ask if we were okay; they are mom’s friends who happen to be our neighbors.

Levi is not a black sheep; he is an achiever, but in his own way, his family is correct; he is far from his other siblings, they are puppets, and he is not. He knew what and when he wanted things.

“He said he would be back before we knew it, and I don’t have the right to stop him if that’s what he thinks will help him become strong,” the classroom was almost filled with students, and it started to get louder.

“Well, if-“ we both stopped when everyone stood up when a mid-fifties woman, the room magically became quiet, her heels were making a sound as she walked, while holding up her thick glasses, her arms clinging to a slim book.

“Good morning, class,”
