Chapter Thirty Four: A Betrayal Like No Other

The saddest thing about betrayal was that it never really came from our enemies, rather from people whom we thought we could really trust the most.

"I repeat. Did you do this to him, Mr. Chevalier?" Zoey asked once more and she even pulled the poor inmate beside her and Zamantha. That action alone triggered Dionysus' raging anger once more. He was currently squinting his eyes at the way Zoey's hands were holding the inmate's arm as if it was the most grievous sin for Zoey to ever commit. "Answer me, Dionysus Chevalier. Are you deaf? Or, your arrogance made you a mute as well?"

Dionysus kept staring at Zoey for a good few seconds, hoping that she would take back all the things she had just said. But, Zoey stood her ground. And, that made Dionysus to chuckle once more. The kind of laughter everyone would notice immediately because it sounded so lifeless and insincere.
