Chapter 2

CHAPTER TWO

“You left in hurry yesterday,” Alex commented as we hurried to class the following morning. We had to arrive early enough so we could get the front seats. The fifty something old lecturer was not loud so unless you were close enough to her, you’d end up with nothing for the entire semester. I had to graduate with an Honors and not just because my parents were strict about my grades but because I wanted that. It was the one thing that could get me giddy with excitement.

“I was just feeling tired,” I said, shrugging.

“That’s a bummer. You missed the most epic moment of the fight,” Her voice dropped down as we entered the class. A few students were present so we managed to acquire the two front seats.

“I wasn’t even enjoying it,” I admitted pulling out my notebook from my brown leather duffel bag.

“I never enjoyed any of it either,”

“But you were screaming pretty loud yesterday,” I could have sworn her voice had been at its highest peak.

“Well, a girl has gotta do what she gotta do to get a hot guy’s attention,” She shrugged, smiling. I chuckled at her statement on realizing just how ridiculous it sounded.

“That literarily makes no sense. How does screaming your lungs out in such a crowded place get you hot guys?”

“There are few things you don’t know Holly but you will learn all of them soon. For starters that place is where you get to see all the kinds of hot guys. From rugged hot to clean hot,”

“Clean hot? And what kind of hot is that supposed to be?”

“You know, the hot guys who polish too well. Mostly it’s the rich spoilt brats who like to show off with their neatly styled hair, golden watches and new clothes. Most of them are part of the elites and the stinking rich people, well, like you. For example-Joon,”

“Joon?” I muttered in surprise. Who the hell was Joon? Was he some celebrity I was supposed to know?

“He is standing right beside you,” I turned to my side and sure enough there was a six point something feet tall Korean Greek God looking down at me with a million-dollar smile tagging on his bottom lip.

“Holly?” I raised my gaze to meet his dark brown eyes, looking down at me.

“Joon,” I muttered in recognition.

“I didn’t know we were in the same class,” he said.

For some reason the entire lecture hall fell silent and I could feel everyone’s hard gaze digging holes all over my body. Ugh! I hated attention. It gave me nerves and despite being someone from a popular family, I still couldn’t stand too much attention.

“Maybe if you had been attending the class for the past one week you would have seen me,” I reiterated.

“Well, what can I say? I pretty much like to explore more than sitting in a class for God knows how many hours,” he smiled.

“I should report you to Sarah about this,” I teased.

“Good luck with that,”

I chuckled pretty much happy. The only thing that had changed was his looks. He looked much hunkier now and his hair was a bit shorter than I last remembered it. It was blonde, very much different from its original black color and I had to admit it suited him quite well.

“Well, I’ll catch you after class,” I nodded watching as he raced to the back of the class.

When I turned around Alex was looking at me as though I had just survived a dragon’s fire breath without a single scratch on my face.

“What?” I questioned.

“Joon?” she whisper-asked, completely shocked.

“What about him?”

“Why was he talking to you?” She questioned again.

“His twin sister Sarah was my friend in Eastern Washington University. During my freshman year Joon took us to a three day-road trip on holiday. It’s no big deal,” I shrugged to emphasize my point.

“Wow! You spent three days with Lee Joon,” Her voice held disbelief.

“Yes,” why did it seem like such a big deal to her? It was just a road trip and besides, Joon was one of those rare, rich, very good-looking guys that were super friendly to girls rather than trying to get into their panties. Maybe he was an occasional flirt but he knew his boundaries and who exactly to flirt with.

Thankfully the lecturer tottered in. Twenty minutes later the second page of my notebook was half way full of notes that I would have to G****e later to make sure what I had written was actually correct.

“Mr. Park this is starting to become a habit,” I looked up from notebook straight into Tan’s silhouette frame walking past the lecturer.

“And I’m not in a fucking high school,” his reply was curt and subtle, making me flinch at the coldness in his voice.

He was dressed in a faded blue jeans under a dark blue shirt emphasizing on his well-defined upper body. Complimenting the entire look was the black leather jacket and white converse shoes. As he got closer to where I was sitting, his gaze found mine and for a moment it just lingered there until I looked down, hating how my heart was beating wildly. He walked past me and knowing that Tan was sitting in the same lecture hall with me, I grew uneasy. My concentration was sidetracked and it was taking every ounce of my will power not to turn around and steal a quick glance at him. The moment the class was over, I stuffed the notebook inside my bag and stood up, ready to storm out of the goddamn class.

“Holly,” I heard Joon’s voice call me from somewhere behind me but I didn’t want to turn back. I didn’t want to see Tan.

“Hello, Joon is calling you,” Alex said tagging at my arm as we joined the mass of students in the crowded hall way. Some were rushing to class and the others were coming out of classes pouring into the hallway.

“I know,” I answered trying to push through the increasing crowd.

“Then why are you rushing away?”

“Because I just remembered I have a really important call to make and I left my phone in the room,” Lame excuse.

“Okay,” I was glad she didn’t push it.

The moment I got inside the room, I fell on my bed with a deep sigh of relief. I heard Alex close the door behind us with a slight bang.

“Was it really an important call or were you just avoiding Joon?” Nope, I was avoiding Tan but she didn’t need to know that of course.

“Why would I avoid Joon?”

“You know with his popular star quarter back thing, I thought you got intimidated,” she said sitting down.

“Popular star quarterback thing?” I always thought that was just Sarah bragging or just exaggerating.

“Yeah, their whole squad is,” she sat down on her bed, shrugging.

“He has a squad?” Why didn’t Sarah tell me any of this? I mean, it would make sense. It was a typical thing for the rich, popular guys to have some sort of squad.

“Yeah. There is Vincent the fighter. Too bad you left early. You should have seen him kick the crap out of that hot guy whose name I don’t really remember. He is probably looking less hot now but who cares? I could lick gin off Vincent’s abs any day. The last one in the squad is just trouble; Lee Tan. He is the Captain of the basketball team. Please I know Joon is your friend but you gotta steer clear of Tan. He will never resist making a move on that pretty face of yours,” she warned.
