On the bed in the examination room, Mateo was stretched out on his back as Doc and Amy franticly tried to help him. If Adina hadn’t known that the person on the bed was Mateo, it would have been hard to guess.

It looked like some explosive had gone off in his mouth, his jaw was dislocated, and he had what looked like burns all over his face but more concentrated around his mouth.
