Chapter Twenty three

The next day before I head downstairs to say goodbye to Bunny, I rummage through my closet. I set eyes on a maroon dress adorned with pearls.

Good enough. I put it on and I open the door to find her standing in the doorway, tightly holding her suitcase.

"I wish I could stay a few more days, but I have to get back to my cat. I get anxious if I stay away from her for too long," she explained.

"I understand. It was great having you here," Adam responded.

She smiles, turning to me. "I'm glad I got to meet you, Payton," she addressed.

"I'm happy I got to meet you too, Bunny. You're welcome back anytime you want," I offered sincerely.

Sure, I know she's got good days and bad days, but she's family, and family always sticks together.

"That's very sweet of you, dear. Thank you!"
